Why are we signing the Boycott FOX news advertiser petition?

I signed my name to the Boycott FOX News advertisers, and then I got to thinking...

I was just complaining yesterday to a friend about how Big Corp owns us lock-stock-barrel.  I was complaining about how the CORPORATIONS stopped dissenting voices at both FOX news and MSNBC.

I complained that I thought there was something inherently WRONG with that!!!!!!

The day that big companies decide what news people see?  YIPES!

Why did I sign that petition again?

Somebody talk me down...

Why boycott FOX

I believe totally in free speech.  At the same time, no one is "entitled" to have a TV or radio show or to be on TV.  These guys are advocating violence against all of us and frequently target our president and elected officials.  It's not good for the country in my opinion.  And we have the free speech right to tell their advertisers what we think about the people they are supporting with their advertising dollars.  Shows are pulled because of ratings all the time.  Why shouldn't advertisers pull their ads if they think something is dangerous?  Look at how O'Reilly pumped up all the anti-abortion crazies and how they think it was okay to kill Dr. Tiller.  That is sick.  The level of discourse that Beck and his ilk are contributing to is not helping us solve any of our problems.  That's what boycotts are for - to exercise free speech in the light of corporate control of networks.

MSNBC,CNN HLN

I dont hear ANY of those stations reporting the TRUTH! FOX is the ONLY station that seems to be doing that, I feel totally helpless and Angry i wont even watch any of the other stations but FOX at least i feel like i have a voice with FOX. All you hear on MSNBC is praising Obama on his healthcare plan and they Agree that ordinarry American Citizens excercising their free speech right are Angry MOBS!!! Oh please, the same with CNN and HLN!! I have news for you they are ALL corporate controlled.

So now GE is using its control of NBC and MSNBC to ensure that there is no more reporting by Fox of its business activities in Iran or other embarrassing corporate activities, while News Corp. is ensuring that the lies spewed regularly by its top-rated commodity on Fox News are no longer reported by MSNBC. You don't have to agree with the reader's view of the value of this reporting to be highly disturbed that it is being censored.

FOX lies all the time - they

FOX lies all the time - they outright pass false information...

You must have hit your head

You must have hit your head recently...Fox news fair and telling the truth??? Glen Beck is one of the craziest people I have ever heard. If he doesn't take things out of context then he just outright lies. And Hannity is a Joke. If O'Reilly wasn't so Pompous I might be able to take him. Watch Oberman and Maddow and then you might hear some truth...at least they blast the dems when they are out of line.

....

If I'm honest, I've got to agree with you.

I'm all for free speech, but it appears that all news stations are definitely biased in their own way. We know Fox News is definitely conservative, but the rest of them are definitely liberal. The reports I see on Fox (actual reports, some often from the AP) never show up on ABC, NBC, or CBS. The Acorn videos, for example... barely made the news on any of these stations. To date, most of these stations never even bothered to air anything. I think if I remember, ABC showed something on their home page during the later part of the afternoon (after the second video), but after that, nothing.

My suggestion is that you watch both of them. ABC, CBS, and NBC are clearly in Obama's pocket. These guys would literally give body parts just to be apart of his "campaign".

On the other hand, Fox obviously frequently makes the extra initiative to show anything that would appear negatively towards the administration.

To get a clear picture, you really have to watch both. There's some real loonies on here that won't even speak the word "fox". But watch both, and you'll get a good unbiased viewpoint.

On a side note, the boycotting does very little for Fox. Fox News actually gets almost 60% of the news viewership. ABC, CBS, and NBC's nightly news ratings don't even add up to Fox News's viewership. I find it odd that many Democrats watch shows on Fox News, and many Republicans (it's been proven from time to time) watch ABC/CBS/NBC.

Where are the indpendant news channels?

Rapid Wash Gen Mgr replied they don't advertise on FOX News

Yesterday I sent individual "boycott" emails to those listed as advertisers on FOX news.  Today I received the following email reply from John Richard, Gen. Manager: "I don’t know where you got your information but I do not advertise on Fox or TV or Radio. I would appreciate you removing me from your list as well as investigating claims such as these before you commit to representing them as your own beliefs. Have a great day and thank you for your concern."  How can we confirm the information in the Democrats.com petitions are accurate and current? If Rapid Wash is not an advertiser, the name should be removed.  If they do advertise, could broadcast dates, times and affiliate station names be obtained for rebuttal?

Rapid Bath not Rapid Wash

FoxNewsBoycott.com has acknowledged that RAPID WASH is not an advertiser on FOX News.  RAPID BATH is the advertiser. FoxNewsBoycott.com has corrected the information.  Please change the erroneous listing on Democrats.com as it is unfair to Rapid Wash.  I've included the corrected advertiser's contact info here:

WHY ARE WE SIGNING THE BOYCOTT FOX NEW ADVERTISER PETITION?

We all know it works like this: advertisers are competing for air-time to reach audiences to sell goods. Yes, there are mega-companies, they own the news, the movies, the reviews of the forementioned, but there is a sense of integrity here: I personally enjoy the fact that I might be able to somewhat make people stop and think about where they are putting their money. Now, many folks don't have a sense of self, much less a sense of social responsibility. Many people, however, do have a sense of integrity. Where would you like to be in the end?

Signing boycott Fox news advertisers

In Response, Why are we signing? Because we too have freedom of speech. Boycotting is the American way for us to express our distaste for these companies integrity. Boycotting actually saves me money and I do like that.

LET'S RETURN THE FAVOR

What else can be done, while we contemplate horrified the extremes of violence and social turmoil that the extreme right is propitiating every day. I am afraid my signature may not be enough and this time I refuse to be sitting on the sidewalk of history allowing the same groups of interest digging their claws in the future of this Country.  We cannot descend to the use of their tactics, but we surely can hit them where it ‘all really hurt, their wallets.

In honor of the healthcare debate, we ALL should dedicate a week in August to our personal health care, If every one of us with health care coverage, specially if you are covered by United health Care, this is the time to make that long forgotten appointment, and at your doctor visit let’s scheduled every single Test you are covered for Mammograms, Prostate, Pap’s. If you hit your head while working on the garden do not take chances with your health, or got bitten by a mosquito, or just a severe case of nervous breakdown after watching the news, let’s regain control of our health present and future.

While the Insurance companies are taking over our City halls, let’s pay a visit to them at the emergency room

Why did you/we/I sign the FOX News Advertiser Boycott petition?

We can all point to various philosophical, moral and ethical altruisms, etc., and some or many of the reasons we might come up with could be argued against (defense of capitalism, etc.).  But I had to look at it very simply:

I signed the petition and am boycotting the advertisers because FOX "News" makes "jokes" about, plants the seeds of, encourages - and in some cases instigates, invokes and inflames - hatred and acts of violence (including murder) against people whose ideology they disagree with.

Because of the magnitude of these acts, any form of support of Fox "News" has to be considered support of their ideology and their incitement to violence.  Of which I want no part.

Why do we boycott?  So that

Why do we boycott?  So that our money isn't used to defeat the progressive causes dear to us!  Would you arm your enemy and then give him free ammunition?  Don't give Fox advertisers money.  Fox is crying fire in a crowded theatre, by calling President Obama a communist and racist.  I don't want to lose President Obama the way we lost JFK and RFK!  Don't finance their hate speech - hate speech inspires murderers.

False advertising

The First Amendment not with standing, FOX should drop the misnomer of news from their network and call it gossip, propaganda, or anything but news. I recall when it first slimed the air waves and it was propaganda then and nothing has changed. No other purveyor of information has had to claim their reporting was fair and balanced, but FOX does. It’s sort of like how the DPRK wants you to believe they are the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, while North Korea is a republic, their public is starving and they are hardly a democracy. We call it news, but we’ll tell you what we want you to believe. FOX pushes opinions but opinions are not news.

Don't get upset when things don't work, just be amazed when they do!

boycotting Fox

A boycott is one of the few weapons an average person has to combat the lies that are spread on Fox News. Fox is poisoning the air and needs to be stopped. And it occurred to me reading the list of advertisers that have already left is that most of the decent ones have pulled out. About all that is left are get rich schemes, rip-offs, and out and out scams. I doubt many of them will leave Fox. Birds of a feather and all that.
