(Owensboro, KY) April 18 2009

Harry
Young, an 81 year old black farmer who has been protesting what he says
is an illegal and unconstitutional foreclosure of his western Kentucky
farm, has been arrested on allegations terroristic threatening. The
charges reportedly stem from a 5 year old incident where Young
allegedly threatened a federal marshal. Young says he has made no
terroristic threats.

The
incident stems from a disputed debt over a farm loan going back to the
late 1970s. Young claims that he never received the proceeds of the
loan in question, and has signed documents from the USDA's Farm Service
Agency proving the debt has been paid. The farm was auctioned in 2005.

Over
the last 2 years, he has received death threats via phone, vandals have
shot at his house, supremacists have allegedly tresspassed on his
rented fields and have reportedly conducted meetings in his fields,
after yanking down gates and cutting locks.

He will reportedly be arraigned in federal court in Owensboro, Kentucky Thursday (4-23-09) morning.

update

The actual indictment alleges that Young made a threat to an employee of the Farm Services Agency in Washington.

Anyone can say that someone

Anyone can say that someone threatened them.  Are there witnesses?  Recordings?  Anything to substantiate the charge?  If someone can be charged with a felony based on what someone claims to have heard them SAY, how free is anyone to speak?  Couldn't almost any form of disagreement be considered a threat if the one who disagreed decided to use police force as a trump card to settle the argument?

He said/she said

They have been after this for  years because he will not accept their illegal foreclosure and sale of his farm.  The enmity between them and this man is scary, and this agency does have a history of retaliation====unfortunately, that is  not known outside of those who have been targeted.  for further info see:
