If This Doesn’t Disgust You, You Are A Republican

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/02/08/AR200902...

After giving the package zero votes in the House, and with their counterparts in the Senate likely to provide in a crucial procedural vote today only the handful of votes needed to avoid a filibuster, Republicans are relishing the opportunity to make a big statement. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) suggested last week that the party is learning from the disruptive tactics of the Taliban, and the GOP these days does have the bravado of an insurgent band that has pulled together after a big defeat to carry off a quick, if not particularly damaging, raid on the powers that be.

Sessions is another far-right neoconservative Texan who believes that partisanship and fanaticism outweigh the needs of the American People. The Republican Party (and specifically the Dubya Republicans who caused this economic meltdown) is much worse than the Taliban and Al Qaeda when it comes to waging class war on their own people. They are nothing more than domestic terrorists, and should be prosecuted for treason.

The lost tribe of the republicans

Hey the corporate media could make it into reality tv.

Sen. Leahy proposes truth panel on Bush policies

Sen. Leahy proposes truth panel on Bush policies.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to launch a "truth commission" to investigate the Bush administration's anti-terror programs and other matters got a lukewarm response Monday from President Barack Obama, who said he would rather "get it right moving forward."

I think it is time for another letter writing campaign.

The healthcare reform issue is being used by the GOP to distrupt

Here it is seven months later and we see very clearly that Bill Harding is correct in his assertion that the GOP is using "the disruptive tactics of the Taliban" to promote their agenda. The GOP wants nothing more than to distrupt the thoughts of the American people and distract them. They do not want anything else from this debate.

The American people hopefully will realize the agenda of the GOP by educating themselves about the Healthcare Reform bill. Education is always key to receiving real facts. No one should be relying on myths and hear-say when they consider the healthcare reform policy. Please consider WHO you are getting your information from when listening and reading from various media. I find it quite stunning to hear people quote this healthcare bill when they have not read it at all.

For as long as I can remember, and even before I was born, people become afraid of large changes within government. People said the same negative things about implementing Social Security and Medicare. They were sure it would bring our country down and America would be a socialist government. Over half a century later, those policies have served to help people in all walks of life. Every one of us has at least one or more people in their family that have been served with Social Security and Medicare. My own Mom had to rely on Medicaid at one very low point in her life. Without it she would have died! These are the policies that were put into place with huge arguments about socialism and communism and everything else. Now America benefits from having it.

If we continue on this path of huge costs for medical benefits things can only get worse. The insurance corporations have taken over. We've seen our country turn into a corporate driven society during the last eight years or more. Do we want more of that? Do we want to turn into a Spartan Society?

I want healthcare reform WITH a public option whether or not the Repubs are on board. The Blue Dogs who are not with this thought need to get in line or not be relelected. They are holding up the show. We voted for President Obama and we voted for this type of change within a MAJORITY OF VOTERS.  Americans want change. We know the new healthcare plan won't be perfect at first, but that also can change for the better as time goes on as we see what the problems are.

The public option for the healthcare reform bill is an absolute. If that isn't there then why bother!

Yes, Bill was correct, PatriotMom.

The tactics used by the astroturf gangs do not promote debate or discussion
regarding healthcare reform. They try to oppress any opposing viewpoints, using
the Repugs favorite, scare tactics and downright lies, shouting them at a level so
no one else can speak.

It's disgusting that they are given so much media attention, as they don't know
what they are talking about.

And now, to top it off, some are showing up with loaded firearms at the meetings,
getting full press coverage also.

What in the hell is happening?

Since when is it OK to bring a loaded gun or assault rifle to a large crowded meeting?

Loaded guns displayed openly at a presidential meeting!

I agree with kwahlf.  Why was that OK?  Were those people at least investigated?  I mean, I got the message they were sending.  I was afraid for our President.  I'm sorry but I think this issue should be addressed alot more thoroughly than it has been.
