Howard Dean for Health and Human Services
Now that Tom Daschle has dropped out of the running for the Health and Human Services position, in my opinion the next choice should be a no-brainer. Howard Dean is a Physician, as is his wife. Howard Dean has been an effective leader of our party, using his 50-state strategy at the DNC to help propel our huge victory last year when Blue-Dogs such as Rahm Emanuel called for his head on a platter.
This position is perfect for Howard Dean. The never-ending parade of Blue-Dogs, and even REPUBLICANS that are taking over in this new Administration we all fought so hard for are quite frankly starting to make me sick at my stomach.
So, why Howard Dean you ask?? Howard Dean has the GUTS and MOXY to stand up and fight the Republicans, the Insurance companies, and anyone else who will get in his way in taking us to Universal Healthcare. Howard Dean is a proud Progressive who doesn't shy away from what he believes, and actually thinks that when Democrats act like Democrats, and not cowards trying to be more Republican they can win on their ideas in the arena of public opinion.
But mainly, Howard Dean is a FIGHTER!! He knows bi-partisanship and all these warm and fuzzy feelings about it will only take us so far. As he showed at the DNC, he knows that eventually we will have to roll up our sleeves and FIGHT LIKE HELL for something millions of Americans desperately need.
Personally, as a Progressive it is getting very demoralizing watching the never-ending stream of Blue-Dogs and Republicans take over this government. We need a real Progressive with guts to let us know all our efforts last year were not in vain, and haven't been cast aside now that victory is attained. Howard Dean has demonstrated how effective he can be when fighting for our party, and those who need it most.
As an added bonus, I am sure he paid his taxes.

When someone closes a door on America, God opens a window. Superb suggestion Dillon, may I congradulate you on the proper suggestion for a qualified physician who knows the insurance company denials and "greedlock" in our healthcare system. Who else to stick it to them but the patients advocate, "the One and Only DOCTOR DEAN!

Great ideas come from group thinking and problem solving. I take back the vacancy comment, my apologies to anyone who felt a little uncomfortable with my disclosure of dissappointment when I didn't see, what others evidently did.
I spent the better part of the day yesterday, backing our president when they tried to pin this selection from PUMA and the Status Quo DLC, on Obama. He has taken a lot of guff this last 14 days and most of it reversing stuff in the last minutes of Bush's power. We still are uncovering and finally have a whistleblower on Madoff. Then Europe started threatening us and demanding par of our grandchildren's money on the stimulus before it was even passed, claiming free trade agreement.
It's true though. When Clinton signed it, there was a clause that any projects to be put forth may have foreign bidders or there will be fines. Now how do you fix the difference in the cost of living wages in US, compared to the ones in other cheaper labor countries?
I had a absolute fit over this yesterday. Threats and more threats. These clowns sold US laborer and working Americans to foreign investors, like we were on an auction block.
Global Slave Economy, with wages called by the elite, no consideration for the people (US) who can't afford to take that cheap a wage in a bid, unless illegals were hired to do the work, for the same price. That's not the worse of it. Yesterday they found that the same bailout banks were applying for H1b visas, to ship the financial counting of the money to overseas accountants and all our private information.
WTF! is all I could say. These are GAMBLERS OF THE WORST ADDICTION. They used others money, as collateral on their schemes, to pass off the bad loans to the investment and financially sound institutions sponsored by the government. The bate and switch bad assets game of the 70's and 50's.
I am just beyond words on this, and as Obama said in the campaign, some of this stuff in the free trade agreement, would have to go. They were b-ing about the "Buy American" clause. Said it was protectionism. Krugman said all the nations needed to get protectionist during the economy, or else they won't be able to build capital to use in the markets.
The neglect in the nations social fabric is enormous, with the past 8 years cuts. But most of the foreign nations didn't fall until we did. So if they are relying on OUR grandchilren's labor gdp, then we have to build American businesses that cover the needs and save on import tariffs. We can't afford to import oranges from other nations when we can grow them here.
We can't afford to take chances that because WE are beholden to these current trade laws, that they can call the shots. IF they want to get paid on the debt WE owe, then WE must be able to make the money without the loss of more jobs, but the creation of the jobs that left the country. I feel with 176 countries world wide, there is more than one leader to leech off. Otherwise, take the reigns and drive the economy yourself.
In short I told them to get off OUR tit. They didn't like it but I told them Slavery has been outlawed for almost two hundred years. We are Americans and NOBODY OWNS US.
WE ARE THE FREEDOM COUNTRY AND NOBODY OWNS US.
WE OWE A DEBT, NOT OUR CHILDRENS'S FUTURE.
GET OFF OUR DING PHAROAH'S BRATS.
THIS IS A WORKING CLASS JOB STIMULUS AND IT IS GOING TO OUR WORKING CLASS, WITH LIVING WAGES, UNTIL THE GREEN JOBS COME ON LINE.
