I voted for Barack because he represents the exact kind of leader I've been wanting to emerge ever since I began voting in 1964, right after graduating college. I wanted leaders from the Baby Boom era, like Clinton/Gore or Hillary, and now Barack to come along at the right time in our history. His and Michelle's story and lifetime achievements represent the best of what America offered to those born between the 1940s and 1970s if they took advantage of the opportunities, emerging after WW2, especially the educational and civil rights advantages.
Luckily my children, now in their late 30s and late 20s, were able to navigate well, too, but it was much more difficult and expensive than in my and my husband's time. The Reagan/Bush era rushed in with harsh economic and educational policies just at the time my growing family didn't need roadblocks to educational opportunities and employment.
Clinton had begun to restore all that, and I know Gore would have continued finishing Clinton's Bridge to the 21st Century. But in the last 8 years, George W. Bush has all but burnt that bridge down. We are retired now, and clearly see that Barack's plans include rebuilding that bridge for my children and grandchildren. I totally agree with his clearly stated economic, domestic, and foreign policy plans. All of my children (3) voted for him, too. We all also donated what money we could, and I volunteered at the grass roots level for Barack '08.
Education is a family value in our family, and a national security issue for America. I grew up in the Spunik Era saw first hand what making education a top priority did for America in the 50s, 60s, 70s to early 80s, when it seemed to became public enemy #1 under Reagan, along with unions.

DISENCHANTED AND DISGRUNTLED DEM, since the 2000 election was stolen. A 'political junkie' but armchair observer, with a 'give G the benefit of the doubt', up until after his 2001 Inauguration and my Layoff from a Fortune 500 Company after 10 years, when he came out promoting A Social Security Privitization/Ownership Society/Criminalization of Seniors for Crossing Our Borders for Cheaper Prescription Drug Costs/Schemes!!! Then came his 'Shock & Awe'/'Mission Accomplished' Campaigns for 'WMD', 'No Wait! Osama Dead or Alive O Never Mind'/ 'Democratization of Iraq'! Then, I BECAME REALLY STIRRED and kind of 'RAD' as I observed THE DESTABILIZTION OF AMERICA ON EVERY FRONT ~ FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC? I decided to join a Washington Protest March in Sept 2005 ~ a throng of hundreds of thousands of Americans of every Hue and Stripe ~ & after 'The Katrina'/'Atta Boy Brownie Debacle'! To see where Dubya& His Have More Constituents (The Military Industrial Complex, Pharmaceutical, Insurance and Banking Industries) have taken Our Country these last EIGHT YEARS? ON THE VERGE OF A DEPRESSION? I take little pleasure from having to tell their deluded led to the slaughter all the day long stalwarts, 'that we tried to tell them so', but FINALLY, maybe the rest of US WHO HAVE BEEN HOLDING OUR COLLECTIVE BLUE IN THE FACE BREATHS for the dawning of This New Day? Can BREATHE A WELL DESERVED SIGH OF RELIEF! Because when I made that first in my 52 years of life pilgrammage to Washington, and stood at President Abraham Lincoln's feet? First of all he is the best candidate of the current choices, far and away so. Secondly, he has not resorted to lies about ANY of his opponents, as has McCain. He has quite a few GREAT ideas, however I am not certain that our congress will let him proceed, since several ideas threaten their bribe money windfalls.
Last of all, electing Obama, or at least giving him more a simple token show of votes, would be a propaganda black eye for al Queda and its minions in the Klan: a black man who can out-think his white opponents, and gain a majority of votes across the political spectrum of this country. Al Queda, and KGB before them, have gained so much propaganda benefits from the Ku Klux Klan and its un-American activities, at such a low cost for them. (About three million dollars a year, according to defectors from both groups.)
Look at South Africa after the end of Apartheid. That country did not fall apart with the election of Nelson Mandela; they actually improved their financial status! One more reason to disregard the racial slurs of Republicans, albeit not from McCain himself.
Finally, McCain is running/allowing the sort of campaign that turns me off! Why lie? If his peolpe lie this much before election, what lies and deceits await us later?
