"Daybreak urgently reminds us that good political intentions are not sufficient to ensure the continuation of our democracy; informed vigilance is vital to that task."

I was in the first group that got to vote when the voting age dropped to 18. I always understood how important and precious my vote is. Since 1980 my vote seemed to be opposite of the national view. I have lost faith in my government. I have seen the people who were elected to run this country sell out to the special interests and huge corporations and industries. The United States is no longer the nation I thought it was or want it to be. The Republican control of all three branches of our government has been digusting, despicable and disgraceful. When Barack Obama wins on Tuesday next it will mark the beginning of a long road to recovery and the restoration of what this counrty is and should be.
