Why I am voting for Barack Obama

Although I always vote, I have not been this excited about voting since Bobby Kennedy ran for president.  Senator Obama understands that our middle class has been destroyed by the greed of those with largely ill gotten gains.  This includes but is not limited to: the no bid contracts in Iraq, the entire Iraq war which began with a lie by George Bush, the scourge of outsourcing, the corruption and greed in the health care industry, tax breaks for giant corrupt corporations and the very rich, offshore "headquarters" for "American" companies which consist of a post office box somewhere where they do not have to pay taxes and the fact that we don't really produce much in this country anymore that is worth buying.  This gives us little leverage in world economics and the corrupt and immoral actions of the Bush Administration in the middle east have taken away any leverage that was left.  I too marched against the Vietnam war and my father fought in two wars to defend this country.  I am thankful that he did not live to see such corrupt activities as outsourcing, sub prime lending, the collapse of the banking industry, health care that no one can afford, the Medicare donut hole and all of the other things in our country that are currently a disgrace.  I have supported Senator Obama since before he even announced his candidacy, I respect the fact he lives such a decent family life and I believe that his core decency, high intelligence, and background as "one of us" will enable him to focus his attentions on what is wrong with this country and how to fix it.  I can't wait to go to the polls on Tuesday morning.

Why I am voting for Barack Obama

As a grandmother, I worry about the future of my kids and grandkids. I want them to grow up in a country that is respected throughout the world, a country that cares for individuals and has a respect for the rights of its citizens. I have not seen such a natural, inspiring leader as Barack Obama for a long time. When I was a teenager I went door to door for Bobby Kennedy in a town in Nebraska. I was also fortunate enough to see Bobby Kennedy and shake his hand in my small town when he made a stop there. I have not seen a leader have such an effect on people since then. I have not been so excited to vote for a president for a long time. There is definitely something special about this young man, Barack Obama.

Why I have voted for Obama

I am 66 years old. I have had a full and interesting life. I have travelled extensively with my husband and lived in Saudi Arabia for five years while he was an ex-pat wopking for an American high tech company. I consider myself experienced enough with being out in the real woeld to say we are in two wars for absolutely no justifiable reason that I can understand.Like the fantastically intelligent Lilly Tomlin said so many years ago, I, too, am still looking intelligent life in the universe and am constantly finding my pursuit wanting.

So far no  intelligence of note in politics, religion or daily life. Mostly it's all bullshit. The closest I have come to recognizing a glimmer of hope for a REAL new beginning is Obama. No experience? That to me means he hasn't been around the Washington politicos long enough to have been putrified by their "Stinkin' Thinkin'"

Should Obama loose next Tuesday (November 4) then the Great Unwashed will have won again and the populace will have earned what it voted for AGAIN.

Anybody interested in starting mandatory courses in critical thinking before anyone is allowed to register to vote?

Why I am voting for Barack Obama

First, I should be honest & say that I'm very much a feminist & would have loved to see the first female president. I believe, however, that this country is just as ready to have an African American president. This country does need change, and I believe that Obama is the person to change things. I am so excited! It's long overdue!

Why I am voting for Obama

Because he is the best man for the job and I trust him.  I believe that he has what it takes to get the job done and will do right by all the people.  I know that it will take a great deal of time to clean up the mess the Bush Administration has gotten us in and I do not expect things to change over night.  I do believe that each and every day of his life he will do what is right for everyone.  I wish him well and will stand behind him every step of the way.  May God Bless him and his family and I thank him for being the person that he is and the direction he wants to take us.
