Why I am voting for Obama
There was a lot of fear about the beginning of 2000 as being the
"end" due to Y2K. My fear that the end was coming was because of
who we got in the White House - GWB! And I was right. He
has practically destroyed this country. I live in a rural, poor
state (WV) that is predominantly registered Democrats, but for the last
two elections, it has become a red state due to lack of education, and
driven by GW's and the rest of the repug's fear tactics. I feel
as if I've been holding my breath since 2000 and now with Barack Obama,
I may finally be able to catch my breath. He's INTELLIGENT, calm,
assertive, young, and knows what it is like to be "different" which
gives him empathy for others who are different. He also opposed
the war in Iraq which I also did (I grew up in the Viet Nam era and as
result am a pacificist.) I don't agree with everything Obama
stands for, BUT he is the only hope for change at a time when this
country is so ready for change.

Why I am voting for Obama
For all of the reasons mentioned above I am voting for Obama; and as I walk into my polling place I will think back to a small restaurant in GA where I worked in the 90's. About 2/3 of my fellow employees were Afro-Americans. As I push that button to make history I will think of Munro who worked at the restaurant before the Civil Rights Act; he could serve food to customers but because he was not white he was not permitted to eat with them; Clo who, if she did get a seat on the bus, had to sit in the back; and Evelyn, who as a child, hid in the bushes when white men went by for fear of being killed. Munro, Clo, Evelyn....this vote is for you. On November 4th when we elect Barack Obama I will be more proud of my country and my party then I ever have been.
I'm voting for WE not I
I'm voting for Obama, because we have to change this nation together and he's the only one that seems to understand that. He's the candidate that stands for WE the people not I the politician.
We need someone who represents what America really is today, who is the face and voice of us all.
Why I am voting for Obama/Biden
He is inspiring to listen too and believable! I and many friends have lost good jobs over seas for the last 8 years and now work in a very physically demanding job that is not high tech.
We as a nation have lost our bearings with the Republican leaders who do not know how to govern this nation be it financially or abroad in our interests without starting unecessary costly wars that drain us here and our childrens lives.
Obama is not a politician , he is a Statesman who clearly exemplifies the resolve this nation needs to be led by. I also belive his Veep choice was on target too, now that was a smart move to usher in Biden as well!

It's difficult to accept intelligence, wisdom, and vision
When someone emerges in our midst with wisdom, intelligence, and vision and that someone does not look like the normed group, that someone is difficult to accept. We have to learn to hear the message in spite of the messenger, to envision the future without real pictures, and to adopt the ideas and make them reality. Every leader who has risen into society has these qualities. They get booed, persecuted, ridiculed, and tormented until they can begin to assimilate the message if they live long enough. Thankfully, Obama started early giving himself plenty of time for the message to resonate, sink in, and become part of the new norm.
Unfortunately, John McCain knows that this is the new visionary for the USA and the world but has self first; unfortunately, John McCain is fighting for more recognition for himself as a war hero. What he has is not enough. He believes that America must be the eternal warrior, fighting every nation that disagrees with it. He is a good fighter and can only fight with weapons. He has not yet learned that one can fight in other ways, and that fighting is not always the solution.
Why I voted for Obama/Biden
I voted for Obama for the simple fact is that we need CHANGE in America! I am a working poor single mother with two children. I experienced similar hardships and struggles like Obama. I believe that every American should have access to quality and affordable education. I have outstanding student loans that I want to be able to payoff. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in debt. Being in debt is not my American dream...being able to provide for my family financially is my American dream. I cannot do that unless I have a well-paying job. The cost of living is higher than my current salary. The interesting thing is that I work for my state's government. I enjoy the work that I do. I'm all about CHANGE.
Example of similar struggle
Even though I am very educated (earned Master's Degree in Adult Education and Distance Learning and BS in Computer Science), it's still hard for me to get a well-paying job....I'm usually told that I lack experience. My response, "How can I get experience when I'm not given the opportunity to gain it?" I am a firm believer that Knowledge is Power. Experience does not necessarily mean a person is going to make the right decision when it's time to be fair.
Government policies need to change to better help all Americans. The establishment of government is to help the people not the lobbyists' pockets and interests. I want to see a real CHANGE in America so that my two children would have a better future!
The Obama/Biden Combination is a great one to get this country well again(safe, healthy, and financially stable).
