Sudden Drop in Orange Alerts - Proof that Ridge was just being political
I can only hope that Bernard Kerik’s replacement of Tom Ridge as secretary of homeland security (Ex-Police Commissioner Named to Top U.S. Security Post, Dec 3 NYtimes) is a change for the better.
I and many others were suspicious regarding the political motivations of Mr. Ridge during this summers headline stealing warnings of election attacks during Kerry's Veep choice despite stale evidence, election postponements, the series of colored alert changes, mysterious threats, flight cancellations, duct tape, and limousine or helicopter bomb warnings. It certainly seems that after the election there is none of this. The fact that the daily onslaught of such reports has mysteriously ceased since the election only confirms these fears. I sincerely hope Mr. Kerik will be more interested in funding the defense of places like New York, than in defending his job in Washington.

Just another crony for Bush
A question to ponder regarding Kerik and former Mayor Rudi Giuliani:
Why, after the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, aren't both of these men disgusted with Bush and his policies? The refusal by Bush's administration to testify under oath (Rice), or under other special circumstances (Bush & Cheney) to the Sept. 11 Commission should disgust these people. Didn't Bush actively prevent and protect the Saudis from punishment in their role concerning 9/11? Bush's refusal to protect us from future attacks also isn't being mentioned. I feel that Kerik is taking this position as a reward for not stating Bush's outright actions against the widows of 9/11. Since he is now a multi-millionaire, it must be about power and the all important political position. Both he and Giuliani have sold their souls. Enjoy the spoils of your gains and burn for them for all eternity. You have sold out the people of New York and not you can represent the Bush administration instead of the Americans that pay your wages. You have proven that you won't work for the people. We are oh so expendable to you.
