My cure for Deadly Post-election Stress Syndrome
Fellow citizens,
Having worked very hard to get Bush out of office I am, like millions of Americans, deeply distressed by the accelerated destruction of our precious country. Despite all the 'spin' on the corporate media claiming Bush has a 'mandate' for his criminal behavior, the fact is more Americans voted against the re-election of an incumbant war-time president that ever before.
I am angry at Kerry that he asked his supporters to now "unify" behind the President, 'begin the healing', and "win the war in Iraq". This was the perfect time to have reminded all Americans that a healthy democracy must maintain a healthy opposition and a diversity of views. It called to mind an apt quote about national unity.
"The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life." Adolph Hitler, My New World Order, Proclamation to the German Nation at Berlin, February 1, 1933
Personally, I believe in goof old All-American dissent. If the Democrats won't even talk about the need for a strong opposition, even when they have lost an election to a fascist criminal, the American people will have to make change despite the politicians. Afterall, that is exactly how we stopped the 'bi-partisan' war in Viet Nam, how the slaves were freed, and how women and Blacks won the vote.
I will carry on protesting this, and any regime, that:
+ Bombs and kills innocent civilians (100,000 confirmed dead in Iraq).
+ Sends poor and uneducated Americans to their deaths in the armed forces for the benefit of the rich and powerful.
+ Lies about war profiteering and steals Billions of dollars.
+ Holds prisoners without trial or access to a lawyer.
+ Systematically abuses prisoners, both here and abroad.
+ Willfully suppresses a free press, discriminates against Arab-Americans, African-Americans, and those who do not fear them or their gods,
+ Suppresses the investigation of the 9/11 commission, the Antrax deaths and the attempted murder of the Minority Leader,
+ Abuses the liberty of its own citizens with the so-called Patriot Act.
+ Systematically breaks international law and conventions.
+ Deliberately spreads fear and crams minority cultist and fundamentalist religious dogma down the throats of so-called free Americans.
The only cure for post-election stress disorder is good old ALL-AMERICAN DISSENT! I hope you will join me and encourage others to turn up the heat on both parties, before we find ourselves in the 're-education' camps.
With Liberty and Justice for All - and Peace, too.

Very well said, but
you left off your splendid list, +desecrates the Constitution and Bill of Rights with no interference from the courts, despite lawsuits against it.
Has anyone noticed all the lawsuits filed against this regime that go unanswered? Randall Clark joined by a number of armed service members and Stanley Hilton joined by the 911 Families of Victims have long ago filed legal motions against members of this administration, and we hear nothing about these cases.
Unifying . . .
Yup, that was well said it rubs me the wrong way to unify behind Bush. Perhaps had he not got up and said, "I will work with anyone that supports my views." IMO, that is not offering an olive branch, it is as he said 'his style', the same old arrogant "I know better" ends justify the means.
We do have to raise our voices in protest each and everytime this administration steps out of line. The media will not hold them accoutable, so we must.
They are lost, and with more Republicans going in, it's scary.
I want to know if anything can be done.
I thinks votes were shaved from e-voting
equipment. He won by 5,000,000.
Say PA and Nevada were correct, maybe not.
There is no way to tell without a recount
or a paper trail. MIT, CAL TECH computer
professors would like to test number of total
votes to number registered for Kerry vs.
Bush. it would be easy to shave
anywhere from 172,413 for 29 states with e-voting
equipment. Simple code would do it.
GRNDTTLKERRY=KERRYTOTAL - 172,413
GRNDTTLKERRY=new number
NEW NUMBER = reported number
If 26 states = rounding, 192,308 would need shaving.
Provided PA/NV are correct, 24 states would
need a shave of 208,333.
Florida could shave more than others.
There should be demands to change this electorate.
Wake up
This nation needs to realize that just because you are a republican does not mean you should follow your party blindly without thought.
I have often said that if not for 9/11 bush would have been laughed out of office. I never really understood Bush's reasoning using campaign adds showing 9/11 some how he thinks that he failed to protect us once, so he deservies another term.

9/11 thought
Perhaps Clinton could have been forceful with the intelligence, but I don't he provoked it. I think that if there had not been a Bush in office, 9/11 would not have happened. GHWB ensured arming of Bin Laden against the USSR, then involved us the first Persian Gulf War (justified I believe). He has very close relations with the Saudi Royal Family, whom Bin Laden hates and would love to see overthrown. 15 of 19 hijackers were Saudi. And if intelligence was correct, the 4 airplane was targeted at the White House. And the neocons that control Bush fully support Isreal's violence toward the Palestinians. Sounds like revenge to me.
Not solid evidence I admit, but highly suspicious.
(and GHWB cannot account for his ware-a-bouts when Kennedy was shot either)
But what about the numerous t
But what about the numerous times that Bin Laden's location, during the Clinton erea, was known and no one went to go get him? Not Clinton's fault? What about all the security issues with letting these guys go thru our borders undetected? Bush's fault? Come on now. If Gore hadn't spent all that time disputing the fact that he lost the election, Bush would have had more time to be debriefed by the Clinton administration and been able to prepare better for an eminent attack.. And what about all the attacks being thrwarted by the Bush Administration now? Are you telling me its just a flook that Bush has been able to prevent these attacks?
During the Clinton era, pre 9
During the Clinton era, pre 9/11 there was not the urgency one finds today to eliminate terrorists. September changed all that for both parties. Whether Bush could have prevented the world trade center attacks is something only he and a few very close advisors will ever know for certain.
If the Clinton-Gore administration accepts some of the responsiblity for 9/11 then can we agree that any future terrorist attacks are totally the fault of the present administration? After all they have had three years to prepare.
I would not say it is a fluke that the Bush administration has possibly stopped some terrorist attacks. Neither would I say that these non-attacks were stopped personally by the Pres., but rather by an infrastructure that carries on regardless of politics, or at lest we had better hope that is the case.
I agree. And I wish that we
I agree. And I wish that we could just concentrate on OUR PROTECTION, and our economy. Not someone elses. Why is it that the entire world looks to us for protection? Why are we the ones that have to go into Iraq and win their freedom? I wish we could just stay to ourselves. But alas that will never happen.
our protection and Iraq
I believe our protection is directly tied to our standing with the rest of the world, as is our economy unfortunately.
A large difference between republicans and democrats this election cycle was due to our perceptions of Iraq. I strongly supported Kerry because I felt that invading Iraq makes us less safe on the world terror front. I can respect other persons views that it has made us more safe, but I still think they are wrong because if we make them a gift of freedom and an elected government there is no guarentee they will elect a government that is friendly towards us. I also wish we could just stay to ourselves.
World "protection"
Reality check, conservativemel: "We" did not go into Iraq to win anyone's freedom. Our sons & daughters are there to sit atop of one of the world's largest oil reserves that can be plundered by the military-industrial complex that previous presidents of yesteryear have warned about. The members of the Project for the New American Century wrote in their 1997 white paper that we needed another "Pearl Harbor" in order to get the public behind an invasion of a Mid-eastern country so that they could get control of oil and make a threatening presence there. They specifically chose Iraq IN 1997 because it was militarily weak, and, they reckoned, could be overtaken with a loss of American lives under 1000, a figure they decided was the most the public would stomach, based on the eventual rebellion against the Viet Nam "conflict." YES, they said all these things IN 1997. Who are the primary members? Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, Perl, and more. Yep, the old "cabal," as they called themselves, formed on the philosophies of a Nazi party member who fled to the U.S. and taught here. Do a search on "cabal" or PNAC and get your eyes opened. Warning: the PNAC has softened the white paper considerably since so many people have found out who they are. But you can surely find people, maybe even websites, on the Net with copies of the original in its former monstrous gory - oops, glory.

Actually, Clinton sent a few cruise missles over there..
But back to the point, Clinton's fault or not, that doesn't
excuse Bush's not doing anything in NYC on 9/11 or the months
thereafter.
Frankly
I don't know which potential attacks your talking about. This administration has not been forthcoming with details. All they said is that they have prevented attacks. Considering their numerous other lies, why should we believe them. Or do you have information your not sharing? I refuse to be scared by these bone heads, unlike the gullible red states.
Clinton did attempt to hit Bin Laden. But several time chose not to because of possible lose of innocent lives.
Also, he chose not to scare the public like this administration has done over and over again. In case you haven't figued it out yet, THATS WHAT THE TERRORISTS WANT. THATS WHY ITS CALLED TERROR.
And I don't believe Bush would have done anything with the info anyway. He was too busy planning the invasion of Iraq.
9/11
Bush was on vacation for ALL OF august before the 9/11 incident. He was also at a stupid photo-op until 10AM on 9/11. He could have made up any sort of excuse to leave the children and fly up to the white house-he wasn't even in the stupid school when it happened. He was getting in his limo outside the stupid hotel. He could have turned around on the spot. And he went to the photo-op anyways. And in Clinton's administration, there wasn't a major terrorist attack. And saudis going to flight school? 5 years ago, that wasn't so suspicious.
LIBERTY OR DEATH
FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO GOVERN YOURSELF!
Hows this for a solution. Dissolve the UNION. Let every one of the fifty states become an independent and soverign nation, and their Governors become their presidents. Then the more liberal democratic countries can decide what they want and the more republican states can decide what they want. Everyone is happy. right?
Great
That would leave Tennessee with, what, Dolly Wood and Nashville?
Sounds like a great trade off to me. (though I would have to give up drinking bourbon. O Wait Thats Kentucky Sorry!)
