With all the talk about what we need to do to compete nationally and be more successful in the upcoming elections, I think us Democrats need to look for our message in the past, a message that was stolen from two generations of Progressives. I think our party needs to get back to the JFK, RFK vision for the world.  If you read some of the speeches RFK made just before he died, they are really relevant again with all the division in this country and the war in Iraq.  I think our party needs to get back to this kind of leaders that:

1.  Will be strong and sensible around the world.  You notice during the Cuban missle crisis the Kennedy's were strong, but didn't do anything stupid that would have caused nuclear armegeddon. If this idiot of a president would've been in then, we'd all glow in the dark.

2.  Give something to the developing countries of the world besides American weapons of war. Namely hope, and a positive view of democracy. We cannot force democracy on the world with American weapons of war, but instead should try to fight the poverty and oppression that causes the misery and hatred, instead of creating more. We have to show them we are right and not just strong.

3.  We have to realize that there are people living in poverty and children who are born without a chance right here in our backyard, and start showing compassion for the poor in America and around the world. 

4.  We have to make sure that every  American has the right to vote and make their voices heard equally.

5. We have to make sure that we stand up to and fight against the elitist agenda even if it means a bullet to the head. We cannot back away from the fact that the evil narrow minded right have taken over our government and we must fight them at every turn.  We must be more vocal now than ever, and we mustn't back down from a fight. 

6.  We must offer hope and a New New Frontier, of compassion, education, and hope for the poor in our country and everywhere, and encourage the use of science to make our world a better place. 

7. We have got to stop American companies to use our tax dollars to move high paying American jobs overseas to be replaced with flipping burgers at Mickey D's. 

8. We MUST fight to keep the separation of church and state intact. We have to  be Americans who just so happen to be Christians or not, and not Christians or not that are American.

It was no mistake that the Kennedy's were murdered like they were. The far right did not want their vision to run against for two generations so they took them both out.  Let's bring this vision back to the front of our party in this day, because the only thing that ever beat it was a bullet to the head, and hopefully we are vigilant enough now not to let it happen again.
