Another Reagan Republican Goes Down In Flameshttp://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/01/16/national/main3720821.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_3720821 “(CBS/AP) A former congressman and delegate to the United Nations was indicted Wednesday as part of a terrorist fundraising ring that allegedly sent more than $130,000 to an al Qaeda and Taliban supporter who has threatened U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan. The former Republican congressman from Michigan, Mark Deli Siljander, was charged with money laundering, conspiracy and obstructing justice for allegedly lying about lobbying senators on behalf of an Islamic charity that authorities said was secretly sending funds to terrorists. A 42-count indictment, unsealed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo., accuses the Islamic American Relief Agency of paying Siljander $50,000 for the lobbying — money that turned out to be stolen from the U.S. Agency for International Development. CBS Radio's Bob Fuss reports that Siljander served in the 1980's as a Republican congressman from Michigan. He lost his seat partly due to controversy from what was seen as his religious extremism. He asked fundamentalist Christian supporters to "break by the back of Satan" by praying for his re-election.” This story has all of the beloved Fundie Republican attributes except sex with minors, but who knows…? Incidentally, after this clown lost re-election because of "religious extremism," Reagan appointed him to the UN as a delegate.
