PETITION: AN OPEN LETTER TO

MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONGRESS: “REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PEOPLE”

SUBJECT: THE IMPEACHMENT OF GEORGE W. BUSH {& CO.}

WHEREAS, the President of the United States, George W. Bush, has continued to blatantly disregard and defy the will of the American People and the Trust of his office, has LIED to the American People and the Congress regarding the justification for waging a WAR of aggression in Iraq, and is responsible for the death and misery of thousands; has SQUANDERED vast economic and natural RESOURCES to an unconscionable degree in the process; now threatens WAR elsewhere; has done more to threaten the sanctity of the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and is HIMSELF a GREATER THREAT to the Nation’s security, than any other threat, domestic or foreign; has undermined the perception of the United States in the world; and has done more to erode PEACE in the world, than any other person in a position of authority; has in fact blatantly ABUSED that power and authority to the disgrace and embarrassment of the Nation and the detriment of the Nation and the World; and has, in a word, committed “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” against the People, the Nation and Humanity: IMPEACHABLE OFFENCES…………..

THEREFORE, this Petition implores the Congress of the United States TO HOLD THIS PRESIDENT ACCOUNTABLE , by immediately commencing and pursuing INVESTIGATIONS on the grounds for IMPEACHMENT hearings in the House of Representatives and the further trial and indictment of George W. Bush (& Co.) on the floor of the Senate, pursuant to their ultimate REMOVAL FROM OFFICE.

A growing majority of Americans wishes this; yet their Representatives do Nothing.

This President MUST be held ACCOUNTABLE, and a message sent, an example made, that NO future president will ever be allowed to get away with what this one heretofore has. To NOT pursue the swift Impeachment of George W. Bush (& Co.) would ultimately be a GREATER threat, and do more HARM to the Nation--and the World-- than any other course. Truth--and the Constitution--demands it.

The impeachment of George W. Bush is NOT A “PARTISAN” ISSUE: it is a PRIMARY issue facing this nation right now; an issue to which all others are subordinate, and is an ABSOLUTE IMPERATIVE. To not pursue, but to let this issue go, for any political reason whatsoever, would indicate on the part of Members of this Congress, not only irresponsibility, but a blatant disrespect for the People, the Constitution, the Truth, Justice, & Moral Accountability. It would in fact represent COMPLICITY WITH the policies and acts of this administration; that such will be condoned in the future and even used as excuses for similar conduct. To pursue any other course than the swift impeachment of this president is totally unacceptable. “God Bless America”?? I wonder if this is any longer possible.

Your immediate attention to and PURSUIT of this matter is hereby requested; demanded.

The above petition is accompanied by the following observations:

In November 2006, the American people elected a democratic majority to restore our system of checks and balances, the rule of law, and our international standing as an exemplar of democratic leadership and values in the world community and, in large measure, with the hope and expectation that it would pursue this very issue: the Impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. I have never voted straight party lines, but in 2000, 2004 & 2006 I did vote almost entirely Democrat, with a purpose; but to what avail !! There is no difference, Republican or Democrat, in the course pursued.

Today, a growing percentage even of those voters who “re-elected” this presidency wishes to repent of that error in judgment. If this Congress fails to hold this President accountable, the President and the Vice President will continue to ignore the rule of law, will continue to flaunt this lawlessness with shameless impunity before Congress and the American people. Without strong and swift congressional support of the Articles of Impeachment, I truly fear that a dangerous crisis of trust will grow within the nation, not to mention a literal erosion of the Constitution. The writing is on the wall.

Does the groundswell of support for impeachment not matter to this Congress?

Any “Representative” who votes to keep this issue “off the table” is failing to do their constitutional duty to the people and principles they claim to represent. The impeachment of this president (and vice president) is A CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATE !! You must actively support any and all resolutions to bring impeachment to the forefront, even introduce the same, and before more evidence is made to “disappear“. Impeachment must be on the Table, the Center Piece, , in full spotlight.

This administration’s approval rating is at an all-time low, and has been for some time. And this Congress’s approval rating is even lower. WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS SO ?!?! Apparently, those elected in 2004 & 2006 do not wish to be re-elected. Restore the faith of the people who elected you !! If and when I see George W. Bush & Co. impeached, I will feel good about--and have hope for--America again.

If this Congress continues to do nothing to this end, I fear that we have entered into the “beginning of the end”, a natural progression. Civilizations have come and gone. The Greeks had a term for the fatal blindness and irresponsibility that leads to ruin: ate^…a variant of which means “the point of no return“: the point to which a society, a nation, a people devolves, beyond which it is no longer possible to correct itself. Recent choices and inaction are leading us to that point at an accelerated rate. Please look up the dictionary definition also of another word, also from the Greek: kakistocracy.

And perhaps, if the Speaker of the House refuses to do her duty in this regard, “because she does not WANT to assume “the Office” in the event of impeachment, then perhaps she should stand down in favor of one who will pursue this issue whole-heartedly. Put impeachment on the table, and keep it there. Do it. Please!! Otherwise, you have broken faith entirely. That is my witness to you this day.
