National Women's Political Caucus Endorses Nancy Skinner

From Nancy's Blog:

I am so happy to announce that I have received an "enthusiastic endorsement" from the National Women's Political Caucus today.  They cited my "impressive political experience and tenacity" in their decision and said that I will be "an important voice for women's rights in Congress."

Will I ever.  We have only two women among our 15-member delegation in Congress and adding another to our ranks will be a great victory.

You know, there has always been this myth out there that women can be catty and not supportive of other women.  I know that's not true - just the opposite.  My greatest outpouring of support has been from other women.  Women who know deep inside that it's just been harder for us to break through in fields that are dominated by men - no matter our accomplishments in the past.

I also believe that women have a sense of priority and stewardship - focusing on what matters most - which helps them excel as leaders.  Politics is a tough sport, but the outcome of what many perceive as a game has real consequences for people.  What kind of planet will our children inherit?  Will we have a re-energized economy -with good paying jobs?  Will we bring our sons and daughters home from this treacherous war in Iraq and heal the wounds it has caused among our allies?

The fact that women are 13% of the representation in Congress when we are 53% of the electorate is just plain wrong.  I thank the National Women's Political Caucus for having the tenacity to stick with a candidate who came within a few points of beating an entrenched incumbent.  Women make up 60% of the Democratic party.  With all your help, ladies, this time we'll win!
