Sorry Bob

I was an early supporter of the Impeachment process. I dropped out. I am a teacher, artist and doctoral candidate at Columbia University. I organized many art exhibitions protesting the unelection of Bush-Cheney in 2000 ( Undo and Counting Coup) and later for Sept 11th.( From the Ashes and Ground Zero)  Later in 2003 organized "Art Against War" an exhbition of posters against the war that started in two galleries in New York and traveled around the world. I am not just blowing my own horn, but want to state that even I was held captive by the powerlessness that has held the U.S in thrall for all these years. It has been the worst 7 years of my life.  I was in communication with Bob Fertik then and I should have stayed the course. Seeing the wimpy democrats and the lackluster candidates ( Gore- Kerrey)  got me feeling that I must be insane- How can this be happening. Is this a nightmare that I cannot wake-up from? I think though the people who voted third party or green candidates are just as responsible for putting Bush in office.  Democrats would have been so much better, any democrat. So any further anger will just depress me further- Impeach them

Third party responsible?

Sorry transendit we can't blame the 3rd party for the Gore and Kerry loss. They both won.  It was election fraud not that the people or party base who deserted us.  OR Ralph Nader got so many votes.

Don't say the voters don't care since many of them stood in line to vote for hours in bad weather, etc.

You might blame the media and the Congress (Senators who ignored the voting fraud and our leaders who gave in) themselves for just giving Bush both elections without a court fight. We stashed funds to fight them but it was not used.

Considering how upset most Americans are today, and then, we should have won by a landslide.  Some New Democrats wanted only their type candidates to win so they abandoned ones who would have. We should have had a large magority if they had played fair with all Democratic candidates (funding and support, etc.).

Same today....the Congress allows so much Bush, Inc. treason and fraud.  They turn a blind eye and won't impeach. Apparently they WANT Bush there even though a large majority of Americans don't.

Another Florida

With the GOP backing the new legislation that will require every single voter to have a picture ID, meeting their specifications will make Florida look like Sunday school.

The GOP is pushing for legislation to require that everyone have a specific ID in order to vote, Georgia has already passed the law and since the poll tax is unconstitutional the GOP has framed it where the id will be free, only problem in the entire state of Georgia there will one location to obtain the ids.  This will affect the Democratic voters.  This latest plan is directed to disinfranchise seniors, poor and minorities, actally any group that would vote predominately Democrat

We all need to be prepared for this.  There is a case in the US Supreme court regarding Indiana putting this new rule in place and we know how they will rule.

There are two articles about this under forums.  We live in Texas and two republicans are now being sued for the illegal acts they committed in 2006

This new Voter Id scam is being implemented and pushed by Rove and Company and Tom Delay.

I hope that everyone checks into their counties before we start the voting process

Mixed feelings on voter ID

There was a lot of voter fraud so ID is important. Good records are too.

Why can't they allow those without proper ID to have one before the election? A person without a driver's license could have a "voting ID". Every community etc. could set up programs. They make sure the poor and seniors get Flu shots this could be the same type program.

I agree with the outrage in NY about licenses for illegals. The word "illegal" mean anything? It's not about voting but getting citizenship and benefits via the back door (for cheap labor). Americans by a large number disapprove.

If citizenship and our voting system can't be trusted, we don't have a representative type government. It is chaos.

I as a Democrat don't agree with my leaders regarding this problem. Party affliation shouldn't have anything to do with it if you believe in democracy and the rule of law. Seems both parties are so desparate for power they would throw away our laws. Shame on them.

Voter fraud? No.

There was not a lot of voter fraud. This is the term used and re-used by the right to put in people's minds that the fraud came from voters. It did not. The fraud that was rampant in areas it was useful and easy to implement is more properly called "election fraud," or "polling fraud."

Anything but "voting fraud." Do you see how this is done? Another example: many years ago, people paid their local taxes because we knew they paid for our roads and such. At some point those cunning language-twisters began to link the words "Tax" and "burden." Pretty soon it was on everyone's lips: "Tax burden."

Now I am not saying whether any given tax is or is not appropriate. I am saying, watch the words. Think about what they really mean, and to whose advantage are they being used in such a way.

Voter fraud, indeed.

Voter ID

Isn't the voter's card -- you know, the one issued by the county in which you reside, and which tells you your precinct number, the one you use to find out your polling place -- the "ID" one uses on entering the polling place to vote?
