Dennis Kucinich
It is said and I believe it that 92% of the American voters believe in what Dennis Kucinich has said over and over. He is the man of the people. He does have America first in his heart and mind. Everyone I talk to wants him as their next President if America is to survive! Yet, no one believes he can win. Please, don't fall for Hilary's husband all over again! Don't be swayed by her corporation money backers. Put your vote on Dennis and America will have the chance to right the horrible wrongs of the last 25 years. And his wife is beautiful and brainy, and more importantly, she is a great and giving person on her own. Dennis cannot be bought. Most of the other candidates can be bought and have already been bought.

But what has Dennis actually
But what has Dennis actually accomplished? He talks a good game, but appears to be short on deeds (pun intended).
This is Dennis's 2nd run for the presidency...
He obviously learned nothing the first time around about organizing a national campaign. His recent spate of whining and complaining about a couple of events in Iowa shows that he wants a free ride.
Dennis talks a lot, does very little, and takes almost nothing from development to accomplishment.
Dennis has some serious baggage to carry around...all his talk of 'cosmic' events.
We won't know for sure until the primary is over...but so far he is running just like he did the last time. He makes poor to lousy campaign decisions. Iowa is important to Dennis but instead of working in Iowa, he went to Hawaii. Does that make any sort of logical sense?
In the polls he still develops the same 3% or so that he got last time.
It is time for Kucinich supporters to look around and see who else they find tolerable. Dennis is not gonna get 'there.'

The problem with that is
None of the others are tolerable.
Well Scott(realdemocracy), perhaps none of the others...
are tolerable. At least, tolerable to you, a Green. Your party helped to put Bush in office in 2000. That was your choice. Is Bush preferable to any of the Dem candidates presently running?
Your party fielded a candidate against Wellstone. You do remember that don't you? And, your party also attempted to field a candidate against the Dem candidate who was running against Rick Sanctimonious in PA. Had they been successful, Rick would still be in office.
Your party, and your great unwashed Messiah, Nader, took money from Repugnants to run against Dems in many states.
Now we are down to another election. Another insane chase for a leader who appeals to all. That leader does not, in reality, exist. There are times when we all have to decide between a number of people who are at best, quite an assortment.
None of these candidates, save one, is tolerable to people like you--purists at heart==who gave us the Texas Tyrant.
I assume that you indicate a preference for Dennis. A candidate who has no idea of how to run a campaign, no idea of how he will get his message out, and who relies on a small group of zealots to give him a free ride.
Now, ain't that just like a Green?

Realdemocracy, unless you want another Repub
in the WH, you need to find a Dem. candidate that comes
closest to your political beliefs.
A third party candidate with siphon votes from the Democrats,
helping the Repubs to victory.
Do you want that?
House Res.333
I must disagree,he has been against the war since before it was a war.He has Introduced House Res.333,How many of them have the gonads to even do that.If more people listened to what he has to say,or if they would give him a chance to speak.Look what happened in the debates! I don`t know about you, but I want change, not just the same old song and dance.Yea,he doesn`t have the looks everyone wants a president to have, but at least he is not bobbing his head up and down.He has to have support, thats why he is at the bottom of the ladder. What a shakey ladder it is,do you want a woman to run this country, boy she would get a lot of respect in Iran, and China.I don`t know about some of your thoughts(pun intended).
And how far has HR 333
And how far has HR 333 actually gone? Good legislative show piece, but no impetus. Nope, I have to disagree about Dennis's "accomplishments" -- or the lack thereof. His entire political history is lackluster, and that is why he has little support.
If Kucinich can deliver
Kucinich has been the most outspoken candidate on progressive issues- he's talked the talk, but he hasn't yet walked the walk.
I'm waiting to see- if Kucinich actually comes up with a will-definitely-work plan to get troops out of Iraq and takes steps to actually implement that plan (HR 333 is not applicable in this case) then I will consider voting for him,
BUT NOT BEFORE.
Incidentally, I resent the fact that people on this site have posted endorsements of various candidates. We're trying to discuss issues and possible actions and behave like thinking people- putting all your eggs in the basket of a candidate and singing his/her/hir praises is not worthy of a post- it's worthy of a rally, but not a post, IMHO.
Pen, yet another thoughtful post by you...
You have some good thoughts, make some good suggestions, but the bottom line is that we are nearing the end of what has been a primary campaign that has gone on about 24 months too long.
Our form of politics is very messy. Mark Twain and H.L.Mincken both said so. Things have not changed much since their time. Confusion reigns supreme and none are more confused than the potential voters.
There is always a certain amount of drum-beating over one's choice of candidate. We have an assortment at the moment, none of whom are 'perfect' matches for anyone. Of course, the media is having a frenzy...they are paid to do so. They will do their very best to infect all of us. They have no reason for living aside from this.
We have a number of candidates sho attract those voters who think as they do. As Dems, we have a better bunch than our opposition, but that is not to say that our candidates satisfy all of us.
So, the drum-beating and wrangling will go on to the bitter end. Most of us worked hard to get the people in office that now fail to satisfy us. The entrenched powers seem to be ignoring We The People and the Constitution equally. They just want to play nice and not make waves.
Everyone, well, almost everyone of us wants a candidate who will fight to preserve and repair a broken nation. At least we profess that to be our goal. And then, in the end, we write silly endorsements of people who do not have the ability or desire to fight their way out of a paper bag.
Gets a bit wearisome over time. We on this site used to take one candidate at a time and all go out and do some deep research. We looked for the good and the bad. We returned to this site and shared what we had found. Amazing what great results we came up with.
As you say, today's posts are more like rallies and/or publicity events...not facts.
In 80 some days, we will attempt to elect a candidate/s who will attempt to satisfy our slightest wish.
As to that last comment, Mark and H.L. are probably laughing their heads off at us.
Study the candidates. Consider what it means to us all if this one/that one wins. We had hopes for Pelosi/Reid/Hoyer. Nothing left but rubble of those hopes.
I'm sure you can add much to what I've written here...unique to your own perspective. Since the last election, all I've really wished for is: NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Dennis does say many
Dennis does say many of right things - things we long to hear. He is free to do this (IMO) because he is not going to be elected.
Dennis, unfortunately, cannot even get respect from local Cleveland tv stations. I am not saying this is right, I actually believe it is very unfortunate. It can be sly, it can be subtle, it can be the 'raised eyebrow' sort of comment, but it is the reality.
Many of his constituents are very angry with him for being "off running for president" when there are so many problems at home.
Is that important? Maybe not. But the road ahead for Dennis will remain a steep one.
I can't see a different outcome.
Says a lot because he won't be elected President?
You could say that about Bernie Sanders too. I wish more acted and voted as Kucinich. He can at least sleep better at night than 90% of Congress for not betraying his party values and country.
Dennis is not really running for the presidency...
what he has done is acquire a hobby. Just had a debate in Iowa(remember Dennis whining and crying that he wasn't invited to the last two debates?)and Dennis was a no show. One would certainly think that he would have been there.
HR 333: Been out for months now. Has 20 supporters out of over 500 members of the House. What the heck is Dennis doing? I suppose he just figures it is someone else's responsibility to get his proposed legislation passed.
He has been there a long time. He has actually accomplished almost nothing. Maybe he does sleep well at night--personally, I believe he sleeps during the day as well.
Purists and zealots(Kucinich Brownshirts)have done their best. They are delighted with the little guy. They might attempt to consider that the Keebler Elf at least sells cookies--what does the Kucinich Elf sell or produce?

He's got my vote, but . . .
Let's not kid ourselves. He's not going to win. Not because his message isn't popular, but because no one's going to hear it. Not because he's not the best candidate, but because most democrats are not going to take the time to look at all their party's candidates, and those that do will only see an "ideal", i.e. "unelectable" candidate, not a real, electable one.
Democrats are just as lazy and power-hungry as Republicans--there's no other reason that our three front-runners have all committed to continuing the Iraq war through their first term. What we want and what we settle for are so astronomically different it's mind-boggling. I guess that we're all so disillusioned with the political process and we all know that it's so corrupt that we don't believe that real change is possible anymore and so we automatically block out anyone who comes around, like Kucinich, and talks real sensible system-wide change.
But there's still hope for this election. The Republican base (good people, if mislead) has had it with their party and they're either becoming independents or giving Ron Paul tons of money. This election will either see record low voter turnout--because no one believes in the candidate from either party--or it will see record high support for a third party candidate. I truly believe that this is the year that democracy will be reborn in American politics. It might not come to rule yet, but the two-party hegemony is crumbling faster than the polar ice caps. We're close to a revolution.
Iraq war now 5 years old
In the Democratic primary 2004 the party thought Dennis couldn't win (although Dennis was ahead in our poll and in Iowa) so they voted\supported Kerry. Look where that got us?
I was reading that today is the anniversary of the Congress approving the war against Iraq (Bush's Shock & Awe against a country who did not attack us). It was resolution HJ114.
Interesting to see that most the present candidates for President voted for that illegal, immoral war against Iraq. Dennis was not fooled. Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, Biden apparantly don't have good enough judgement to see that Bush was lying (like his father about Iraq). They said, they were "misled" by the President. Face it, the Bush family lack credibility for being for peace and democracy. Anyone who was "politically astue" knew the Bush family wanted war in Iraq (for their oil, etc.).
Milions in the streets around the world and here in America had better judgement why not them? They were told it would cause more separation and chaos. Did they listen? Nope.
A trillion dollars later (yes....trillion) we are worse off then before the Iraq war. We certainly are less safe. We have huge debt. A ruined military. A bleak future with democracy and freedom gone. Our trade deals are a laugh and our good jobs\corporations have been off shored. Corruption and greed fill the halls of Congress. Seems to me it was more a war against us and our power than anything. Our enemy is US.
I'm Voting For Kucinich
I'm Voting For Kucinich Again!
if we want to get this country back together I think he can do it. besides the initals of Clinton, Edwards, And Obama. seplls C.E.O. and we have enough of them in this country. And i wish that when they have Debates, That Dennis kucinich get's as much time as the rest .
Clover, a good thing you are because...
it takes a lot of votes to equal 3.5%.
Dennis learned in the last primary that he had to switch(quickly)from Pro-life to holding his nose and allowing choice. He found that he needed a wife to be considered a creditable candidate. He solved that little problem too.
Aside from those two items, what has he accomplished?

For you Dennis enthusiasts...
Dennis was on the Ray Taliaferro show this morning on KGO San Francisco at 4:30am PT/7:30am ET.
He had a half hour with Ray and enthusiastic callers. Most of his subjects were covered and he did a good job on health care and more.
He called in from Dover New Hampshire.
You might see if his interview is included in the KGO archives:

kucinich
Now here is a guy who has the best interests of the ordinary people of this country at heart, who is guided by principles of decency and who has absolutely no equal among the other candidates, and even progressive democrats are ignoring him wholesale. Amazing...
Just imagine that instead of bush, we had six years of a kucinich presidency. The budget would probably be balanced, the dollar strong, there would have been a repeal of nafta and other ruinous trade deals, the tax revenue would have been spent on social needs, such as health care for everybody, there would have been no war with iraq or anyone else, military budget would have been curtailed, etc... Awful thought, isn't it?
Of course kucinich does not have a chance. There are 30-40 million right wing religious fanatics voting republican in this country. Then add in the right wing big money and all the bamboozled voters who have been convinced that a progressive candidate is either nuts or a commie...
The democrats will never have the sense to unite behind someone who actually represents their interests. Like sheep they will pile up behind the rightwingers like hillary or obama resulting in more wars and more rule of big money.
Cheers!

You just told us:
---the attack of mythic proportions on 911 would have been ignored.
---that Progressive Economics would have been framed as Socialist rather than Sane.
---that Democrats just don't get it.
---Etc.
Care to actually discuss ANY issue rather than simply making yourself feel proud to be in the know?
I might first ask: What have you done?
jim
the attack on 9/11 is the result of our right wing pro-israel foreign policy. without us support and diplomatic cover israel would not have been able to steal palestinian land, endlessly repress palestinian population, repeatedly invade lebanon etc...
my point is that had a person like kucinich been in charge of our foreigh policy, 9/11 would not have happened.
i do not care to reply to your personal attack
Please...
You have it all worked out but don't wish to discuss it?
Please tell me if anything ever bad happened in German History so as to explain why the Nazi's killed millions.
It seems to me that America may have made a few wrong turns ;) So too, other Nations.
Now should we have Americans murdered in the thousands at some future date, is it not a valid question to ask a Candidate what they would do in response?
I mean besides noting that..."well, America did bad too and/or first".
And taking into account they would be governing a population with blood lust as well as genuine hearts. And that bad guys, independent of our bad acts exist as well. And...
------------
Now excuse me, but you just blew off the overwhelming majority of the Nation as being unknowing and simple dullards. I'm just wondering if you can back up those words.
You attacked.
You were called on it.
You countered with a "no you are"
Then you left.
If we can't struggle to put up with each other then we have little chance of corralling cats (or collecting votes)?
Kucinich and the Blame America First crowd: I'm seriously bored.
For decades I've winced over the Right's bullshit straw man arguments. The Blame America First notion is one.
For this, and an endless array of charges, I thought: they exaggerate to make it easy to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Why can't it be true, for example, that SOME people commit crimes BECAUSE they were abused AND SOME people claim abuse BECAUSE they want to get away with it? Why need it be only one OR the other?
A Right Winger chooses ONLY one. A blind Bleeding Heart Liberal ONLY the other (usually I see this beast as mythical but some make me wonder). A Liberal, of course, simply seeks the truth AND knows when they are adding additional layers of belief.
Now somebody straighten me out on my thinking if I'm nuts (seriously) because I think some "Leftys" are nuts.
On the Blame America First idea I think:
So for example:
---Did President Clinton taking away Timothy Mcvey's machine gun turn him into a scum bag?
---Did somebody DO something to Ann Coulter?
---Did somebody make some of our Right Wing Preachers so hateful they would make a Nazi wince?
AND
---ARE SOME TERRORISTS SCUM BAGS ON THEIR OWN ACCOUNT WITHOUT REGARDS TO WHAT THE USA MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HAVE DONE?---
-----------------------------------------------------------------
