Let Him Speak!Let Him Speak! The very foundation of our democracy is freedom of speech and freedom of expression whether verbal or written. The first amendment to the constitution states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. In the recent Republican primary debate, Rudy Giuliani asked candidate Ron Paul to take back his stated views on why our leaders should look at how our foreign policies may fuel more hatred by some countries in the Middle East against America. Mr. Giuliani asked Mr. Paul to apologize for his stated opinion. Although more subtle than telling Mr. Paul to shut up, Mr. Giuliani was in essence suppressing freedom of expression. I can respectfully agree or disagree with Mr. Giuliani, but his right to express his views must be protected. Ron Paul’s freedom of expression must also be protected. We must have civil discourse regarding the foreign and domestic policies of our Nation if our Democracy is to survive. There is no debate more important than the debate over going to war. Before the war in Iraq started, too many voices were ignored and silenced by the fear of being seen as weak on defense. Whether we agree or disagree with Ron Paul’s opinions, we should all be shouting, “Let Him Speak!”.

Every citizen deserves the
Every citizen deserves the protections of the Constitution in all matters, but frankly I don't give a rat's ass what a hypocritical Republican says to an "out there" Libertarian. Asking someone to shut up, apologize, or retract a statement, is neither censorship, nor does it infringe on their freedom of speech. It is simply a counter-argument.
I am more concerned about our neoconservative-enabling representatives in Congress telling the American people to "shut up," when they disregard our wishes, and vote to further fund this insane "war on terrorism." That is definitely an infringement on our freedom of speech, and our so-called "representative" way of government. They not only told us to shut up, they censored our very clear message to the current criminal administration.
What the people want to hear!!
I have been to several speeches and such and the unheard subject that is perpetually brought up is the Mexican border. Let him who wants to win speak about that!
Rudy Giuliani is big on posturing.
He repeatedly demands others to "retract" their statements.
Hey Rudi, if you disagree, then call it what it is!
Then tell us why you disagree.
Asking others to "retract" their statements is a bit dictatorial, eh?
You don't dictate how others think, feel and speak.
A Benito with no trains to run on time.
Rudi is a Benito in waiting. He demonstrated his fascistic tendencies in his broken windows aggressive policing of NY and his total lack of awareness of how that impacted working class and minority communities. So you can expect Rudi will keep the 1st Amendment close to his vest as he will be the only one with that right if elected. His best bud was Bernie Kerrick so do not look for real reforms just a continuation of the graft but on a much larger scale.
