Wanted: In Kentucky

All across Kentucky, and indeed this whole nation mainstream America has become disgusted with the antics of Mitch McConnell. He has been a constant advesary to many needed things which include Campaign Finance Reform, raising the minimum wage, making health insurance affordable for everyone who works, and having any kind of sane foreign policy. In fact, in the last six years Mitch McConnell has stood for nothing but rubber-stamping idiotic policies and brownnosing the Bush Administration.

This has not gone unnoticed. In Kentucky and all across this nation there are millions of Americans who are tired of seeing Mitch McConnell's happily sneering face every time true Progressive change is blocked yet again in our time. Like Joe Lieberman, there is an army awaiting any legitimate candidate to step foward and answer the bell to go toe to toe with McConnell. While we are still stuck with Lieberman, a whole party effort like that would rid us of one of the worst partisan Senators in history.

Now we need someone to answer the bell. I will make no bones about it, I would support Eric Streit in a fight against McConnell anyday. Streit is a real Democrat that believes in fighting for the principles of our party. I know, I have been there fighting with him and know the man believes these things to the core of his soul, just as we all do. Because of the huge money system which McConnell has constistently fought to keep in place, that probably will not happen. I will say, just in case any of our party's leaders actually are reading that Eric Streit needs to be seriously invested in to fight for Kentucky's First District.

Anyway, so now that everyone knows that Eric Streit would be my first choice as a fighting Kentucky Democrat to face McConnell, I will respectfully ask someone else to step to the plate. McConnell is building a huge war chest. He already had one to build onto. There are many of us who want to start working on defeating McConnell NOW!!! We are already fighting for a nominee, so why not McConnell's defeat? I cannot give a whole lot at any one given time, but between now and the time of the election I could give enough times to add up to something. I could write, talk, telephone, and do whatever I could to start defeating Mitch McConnell.

Democrats everywhere should be ready to step up for their country and send a statement once again. From what I have seen in Kentucky and from many people across this country we are. A Lieberman-like effort in Kentucky next year could do more than make a statement, it could change the tone of the Senate!!!! We have the army, now someone needs to lead!!

ANY DEMOCRAT- Kentucky Senate 08!!!!!!

Mitch McConnell: Big Money From Big Money

One thing you can say about Mitch McConnell is that he has been consistent. Consistently blocking Progressive change in any form in our country. One change he consistently blocks is that of election reform and taking the money out of the process. He believes big money interests are exercising their "First Amendment rights" to give him big money. Look at his warchest and some of the contributing interests:

Attorneys & law firms $390,848

Security brokers & investment companies $234,949

Commercial banks & bank holding companies $168,550

Coal mining $108,600

What about all the railing against trial lawyers? I guess he isn't talking about the ones who are sending 400 grand. It looks to me as if McConnell is beholden to the big money interests and status-quo as long as he holds his office. Not to mention his shameless pandering to President Bush and refusal to show any kind of leadership whatsoever within his own party.

It is time to send Mitch McConnell home. I repeat my call to anyone in Kentucky who can run against McConnell to step up and heip us start unseating the biggest obstacle to Progressive change in the Senate!!

Any Democrat- Ky Senate 08!!!

Could we Have a Challenger?

Recently Mitch McConnell has been doing a lot of worrying and push polling for his upcoming race in 08. Many of you know I have been calling for someone to step up and challenge him. Now, it appears as if a high-profile Kentucky Democrat is considering it:

Greg Stumbo was our AG who investigated the wrongdoings of our Governor who is just about to be unseated by Steve Beshear. Being AG, he has high name recognition, and is a political fighter. Although he is vilified in some circles they are mainly Republican. He has served honorably in public office and has a proven track record. The only other name floating around is Charlie Owen, who would be 70 when he took office and has little public experience.

Greg Stumbo has already taken down McConnell's Golden Boy Ernie Fletcher, maybe he is just what we need to take down Mitch McConnell himself. I tried to find a link to provide to encourage Greg to run, but the only one I found was to the KY AG office, and I don't think we should send encouragement for him to run to that office. I will keep everyone informed, Stumbo might be just what we need against McConnell!!
