To those who say it is too late, that impeachment can never happen....Not trying is "off the table!"

It falls to us to save the Constitution. Our Washington officials will follow our lead. It's very simple: The Constitution, the supreme law of our land, clearly states that impeachment is mandatory when our government officials violate the law. If we want to prevent any future President & Vice President from overreaching the law, we can't avoid this responsibility. The House of Representatives must impeach those who commit "high crimes and misdemeanors," no matter if they have 18 months, or 18 days left in office. It is no accident that the Founders emphasized the right to impeach at several points in our Constitution!

If we want to try to prevent this administration from attacking Iran or some other target of opportunity in the coming weeks or months, we have to begin the process of removing the President and Vice President from office.

And if we want to show the people of the world that the American people do NOT approve of the torturing, the pillaging, corruption, deceit and the war crimes of the Bush administration, impeachment is imperative. In fact, it may be our best preventive against terrorism

In the case of the Bush administration, the list of potential impeachable offenses is longer than that of any other administration in American history, bar none, far worse than Grant or Nixon:

* Manipulating intelligence to deceive the American people into war against an essentially defenseless country that did us no harm
* eliminating habeas corpus
* practicing torture
* illegally authorizing the spying upon American citizens
* proclaiming the right to ignore legislation as he so chooses with close to 750 "signing statements."
* The Alberto Gonzales/U.S. attorney scandal which clearly began at the highest level.

History will not be kind to us...unless we stand up to the bullies who are hijacking our country.

We've all been had at one time or another, and this is one of my times, apparently.

Thousands of people have called Speaker Pelosi’s office today asking that Bush and Cheney be impeached. No, this was not a random coincidence. A blogger on Guerilla News Network posted earlier today claiming that Speaker Pelosi was conducting a phone poll asking people to call her office if they wanted impeachment. This story quickly spread around the Internet, making the front page of popular social news sites digg.com and reddit.com. Now that Betaflow has debunked the validity of the poll, the question remains: Can mass phone calls of this kind influence politicians on an issue like this?

That question begs the larger question, posed by Josh over at the Seminal:

Why should we need a politician-sanctioned poll to voice our opinion?

After all, they are our congressional representatives, their job is to represent us, so why would we need their permission to express ourselves?

Since the fictitious "poll" began, its garnered over 2,000 "Diggs" at the Digg community.

So, authentic poll or not, this is the time to reconfirm your support for impeachment of Bush & Cheney.
