Bush will speak to the nation this evening at 5:45 EST.

According to breaking news item at DU...

Subpoenas will be processed Wednesday for Miers and Rove...they will be required to be under oath after all.

Now, sit back, grab some popcorn and watch the game of the year as the White House explodes.

What this is heading toward is a Constitutional Crisis. The more BushCo weaves and bobs, the more news comes out. LOL...and all of it is bad for them.

It ought to be able to withstand scruitiny. There is nothing about the firings of the attorneys that is related to natinal security EXCEPT that the Republicans stuck an amendment in the Homeland Security bill that made it possible to hire new attorneys without consulting Congress.
If Congress accepts these terms and the Court upholds this, we truly have lost our country.

The White House's so called

The White House's so called "offer" would be laughable if it wasn't so maddening. There had better be subpoenas, with any testifying done under oath. Anything less is unacceptable.

Just heard part of Bush's speech on NPR...

He sounded so ticked about the attorney thingy that he was almost spitting as he spoke. Hiss, hiss, hiss. LOL!

Now we see if enough of our people can stay the course.

Rove and Miers MUST testify UNDER oath and with a complete transcript available following their testimony.

Bush Says Congress Can Question Aides, but Not Under Oath; Dems Vow to Pursue Subpoenas

WASHINGTON Mar 20, 2007 (AP)— A defiant President Bush warned Democrats Tuesday to accept his offer to have top aides speak about the firings of federal prosecutors only privately and not under oath, or risk a constitutional showdown from which he would not back down.

Democrats' response was swift and firm: They said they would start authorizing subpoenas as soon as Wednesday for the White House aides.

"Testimony should be on the record and under oath. That's the formula for true accountability," said Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Bush, in a late-afternoon statement at the White House, said he would fight any subpoena effort in court.

"We will not go along with a partisan fishing expedition aimed at honorable public servants," he said. "It will be regrettable if they choose to head down the partisan road of issuing subpoenas and demanding show trials when I have agreed to make key White House officials and documents available."

He added that federal prosecutors work for him and it is natural to consider replacing them. While saying he disapproved of how the decisions were explained to Congress, he insisted "there is no indication that anybody did anything improper."

Let's see here---

Miers and Rove will be "interviewed"

in a closed door session

with no oath taken and no transcripts.

This will help us how?

And to top it off-- he's "warning" us?

His arrogance has no limit.

Actually, this could be a good thing. If Dubya wants a "Constitutional showdown," the Democrats should give him one -- which ultimately leads to impeachment.

His concept of a "unitary executive," and his ongoing contempt for Congress and the separation of powers, urgently need a Constitutional review. This may be just the opportunity needed to bring impeachment to a head.

Bill, you make a very good point.

Well hey, it's just like the long-delayed "official" 9/11 investigation where Bush and Cheney showed up but would not speak under oath or allow anything they said to be recorded or written down.

I wonder why?

Is it because they are evil, perpetual liars?
