Beyond Impeachment: The Case for Pursuing Justice

Even if impeachment were politically possible, it is getting far too late into the year to begin the process. It will not occur because the now Speaker took the option off the table before this past November’s election.
The stark reality is that impeachment will not occur because there is no political will by either party to seek justice because politics has no morals, it thrives only on expediency. Hence, the 2008 Presidential race was deliberately started early as a distraction for the populace with the blessings of both parties to obscure any lingering thoughts of such an action.
Focusing our energies on a futile cause is a best case scenario for the Bush Administration because they all know this action is simply busy work that will keep their opponents occupied while they continue on with their nefarious activities. The Administration patronises us by allowing us to march on the streets of D.C. because they know we are of no threat to them. The Administration knows we are attempting to lobby an ineffectual Congress that cannot even pass a resolution to consider another resolution so what do they truly have to be concerned with?
What we, as the opposition, need to vigorously focus on developing a legal process that will bring this administration to justice as soon as they step outside the White House in January 2009. We need to be prepared to meet them at the door with arrest warrants for crimes against peace and crimes against humanity and a plane waiting to take them all to The Hague for arraignment and trial.
We need to seek every avenue for obtaining justice by developing viable legal strategies for filing law suits in every civil and/or criminal court in the country so that our words are backed up with concrete action.
We also need to hold Congress accountable in the same manner for their gross derelictions of Constitutional duty.
We, as members of the human race and as believers in the rule of law need to do this for absolution of our country’s soul for the crimes and actions we allowed to occur through our neglect of our duties as citizens. To regain our freedoms and Constitution for our children and to show the world that no one anywhere in the world is above the law we must need to commit ourselves to bringing to justice our leaders who have placed themselves outside the law by defying the rules of law and human decency.
I HAVE A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION
If President Bush went to the House and Senate and offered to resisn if they voted him to,how many of our Senators and Reps would have the courage to vote and what would the outcome of that vote be,in your opinions? In my opinions at leats half would run for the tall grass and not have the guts to show up for such a vote,of those who did vote it would in favor of Bush not to step down. Please note here I didnt say how I would vote because if it were up to me President Bush should step down.In fact in my "perfect world"Chaney would resign,Bush would appoint a Bob Dole or Sandra Day O'Connor to replace him,the next day Bush would resign, then Bob or Sandy would "mind the store" till 08.
Bush/Cheney Impeachments

If Cheney resigns Bush can't just appoint whoever he wants to replace him. When Spiro T. Agnew resigned Tricky Dick's resignation wasn't far behind -- both could and should have been charged and prosecuted for their crimes but weren't. The deal with the devil was to spare them having to live according to the same laws the rest of us of respect or do the time for not respecting them. They got away with their crimes but at least we got rid of them. Someone put Gerald Ford into office -- wasn't he Speaker of the House at that time and isn't that the way it's supposed to go--if the President is gone the VP takes over & if the President and the VP are gone it's the Speaker who takes over? Wouldn't it be so counterproductive to be able to kick the criminally insane out of office if they could simply appoint one of their criminally insane clones to replace themselves? I think we should get all of Bush and Cheney's minions out of offices they hold as well. Condoleeza Rice CANNOT be in the White House running this country. Pelosi ought to be next in line after the evil spirits have been smudged.
You expect the republikan lite party to
vote bu$h out. Show up for such a vote?
The Dems in Congress either have to think the American public is absolutely clueless in this whole bu$h regime criminal activity.
bu$h, cheney, rumdummy, scooter, the FBI and alberto have given all the evidence in the world to go after them. What's the Dems doing?
Waiting for WalMart to put balls on sale, I guess. I've written my Senators and have just about all but told them that the Dems are republikan lite.
Ain't nothin' gonna get done! Plain and simple.
WE GOT THE BEST DAMN DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY. And the rest of the world is laughing at us.
BUCK FUSH !!!
You are painting the entire
You are painting the entire Democratic Party with the Republican-Lite DLC brush (Lieberman, Hillary, Bayh, Biden, Kerry, etc.).
Howard Dean, and several other traditional Liberal Democrats are working very hard to return our Party to its grassroots -- the People. Democrats.com works just as hard for this same goal.

If those Balls at Walmart don't go on sale pretty soon we might need to start thinking about taking up a collection for them to get spine transplants-- I'm definitely in on that one. If the Democrats we elected in November to work in our best interests don't have have the backbone or balls necessary to do what we want them to do because their reelection priorities are in overdrive perhaps we ought to start a petition gathering votes to get term limits on the ballot. Then we would have to vote to stop reelection; limiting them all to a single term or at least preventing them from running in back to back elections for our own good. Let them run again but after 4 years from the time of their term ending. Gee, maybe then they'd have to actually act in our best interests in order to build up some votes in a distant election 4,5,6,7, or 8 years away. Or better yet why not have every citizen vote on every issue and expenditure eliminating what is part of the current broken system: elected representatives aren't necessary any more as I see it. We vote from home, library computers, etc. It's unacceptable that our votes do not count. Every vote should be counted and every vote should count. End of spending the trillions of dollars trying to find faster ways to kill other human beings because there wouldn't be the authority to spend our money entrusted to just one person. Look what is happening now: a criminally insane power freak is running the country, starting wars we don't want that aren't justified, occupying countries we attack for no reason, no more tax breaks for the 2% that are obscenely wealthy, health care for every American, never another Katrina betrayal by our own government, no way for a fascist dictator to pull off another coup d' etat to steal elections, no more illegal spying on Americans, no more "free speech zones" for us:
Hey, Bush!!America IS a free speech zone, ya moronic freak! Guess what? You are history!
Now, don't let the door hit you in the asses on your way out. Oh, by the way, there will be police waiting outside to arrest you for your criminal acts, your betrayals, your national and international war crimes, etc.
The media will again report the news instead of Britney's baldness and new tatts, free speech will be preserved, the Bill of Rights reinstated and preserved, Big PHRMA and all the other lobbys to Congress will lose their lackeys or else bribe over 50% of us to be their partners in immoral and unethical drug experimentation using us as guinea pigs and charging us a 2000% mark-up for what's probably going to kill a million of us before it is pulled, no more good 'ol boyz worshipping at their altar of insatiable greed and the Hitleresque power lust we've seen for the past 6 years in America and Germany saw just a few decades ago and then claiming to be Christians while leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake, the blood of over a hundred thousand people dripping from their filthy hands since their first mass murder on 9/11. . .
Yes ---BUCK FUSH!!
Not too late
I wholeheartedly agree with Syndi about holding the members of the Bush/Cheney regime accountable for their crimes. If we fail to evict and convict Bush/Cheney before their terms end, we must press on with charges of war crimes.
In the meantime, I continue to believe that the impeachment movement is the most direct and effective way toward ending the war and holding the war criminals accountable.
Beyond Impeachment
The Bush, Cheney, et al regime not only needs to be ousted, the many players in this Administration who've prompted-supported-conducted crimes against humanity need to be held accountable, and International Criminal Court is an appropriate venue.
Yes, impeachment could be used as a distraction but does not need to be allowed to be; instead it could finally prompt some media coverage of the war crimes issues so we can move as a society toward justice.
The level of dialog is very low and polarized, dragging us toward our worst selves. American degeneration into fascism will require a massive awakening and engagement of people redirected toward becoming the best we can be.
Kelly, you are correct.
The Dems need a spine, also. They can't get their act together because they are in a campaign mode for the next election.
HAVE THEY EVER FIGURED OUT WHY THEY WERE ELECTED THIS TIME? DO SOMETHING? ANYTHING! GDI!!!!
Let's see them send out some subpoenas. Let's have that showdown. Drag the crooked bastards before Congress and MAKE THE TESTIFY OR WALK THE PLANK!
I have been an active supporter, financially, for the Democratic Party for years. I have explained to each and every Democractic solicitor who has called me recently that I am not about to give a nickel to the party unless they get off thier collective asses and do something. I will continue to support my Senator, Sen. Feingold. He had to courage to vote against the Patriot Act and against bu$h's illegal war on Iraq.
I don't give a damn about Howard Dean or liberalism. I do care about the fact that a bunch of nazis have hijacked the republikan party and my country. They have violated my rights and the rights of thousands of Americans. They have destroy countless lives of innocent Iraqi citizens for bu$h's lies.
I'm an American. I'm a Vietnam Veteran. I fought in an unpopular war while people like bu$h, Dan Quayle and idiots like them got plush National Guard assignments. Or idiots like GFY cheney got deferment after deferment and is now a great conservanazi patriot.
If this country is going to continue to be the republic that it was designed to be, then some one in Congress stand up, grab those cocksuckers by their throats and take 'em to task. Indict the whole bunch.
But, goddamit! Don't whimp around and not do a think. Pelosi needs her head checked. If more people would raise hell, they may get a spine and a set of balls.
If this country continues it's slide to a facist government, it's our fault and the fault of the strawmen we voted in.
BUCK FUSH !!!
George Bush, Dickless Cheney, & Co = AXIS OF EVIL
Not only does George Bush need to get impeached, but he, Dickless Cheney, Condi Rice, and the rest of the deceptive and criminal oil mafia, need to be hung naked and beaten with the molten hot steel beams from the towers of 9/11 until they die the most painful death known to mankind, just like them poor innocent victims did who sacrificed themselves for the deepening of corrupt wealthy neo-cons pockets. This criminal administration has not only destroyed the very fine fabric meaning of the US constitution, but also destroyed the face of America and what being an American is about, all across the world. This hypocritical, deceptive, misleading, abusive, and cowardly Bush administration, must be stopped, and stopped now. Lastly, if there is anything I can immediately do, please, I'm full of energy, and would love to volunteer even my Friday and Saturday nights, to do whatever it is possible to impeach this damn administration. Because after all, were we all, as American students growing up, just wasting our times when reading the pledge of allegiance every single school day morning...so then...WHY ARENT WE STANDING BY WHAT WE PLEDGED...DIDN'T WE CLOSE IT OUT WITH....LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!!!!
War crimes have no statute of limitation
While I really, REALLY wanted the Congress to pursue articles of impeachment against Bush as soon as a Dem became 3rd in succession I understand why that option was removed from the table. Look at how screwed up things were when the Pugs impeached Clinton. This congress would have gotten nothing else done but work on impeaching Bush and/or Cheney and the Senate would never have removed him from office. Lots of wasted time for nothing and it would have looked to many (in the US and out) as an act of retribution.
Once this administration leaves office, they are fair game for, and totally liable for their actions while in charge of the ongoing actions in Iraq and elsewhere. Our government can pass any laws they want protecting themselves and there henchmen in the US but those laws mean nothing to the rest of the world. I would love to see several of them sitting in the Netherlands facing the International Court of Justice.

Thank you my friend, I have been extremely busy, traveling constantly and working long hours. But, I have been trying to keep up on current events and Democrats.com helps a lot. Hopefully I can be more proactive for a while.

Be sure and wear protective headgear while being "proactive"...;-)
You know
my head is to hard to need protective gear and for everything else, my wife keeps me under pretty tight rein:)))
BS IMPEACH NOW
There is and never will be any excuse or distraction to justify not impeaching under these conditions.
It is imperative that everyone keeps focus on IMPEACHMENT, today, tomorrow and everyday in every growing louder voices to our representatives, Speaker, Majority leader in the Seanate, and every other orifice which we can speak about this grand injustice. Bush must be impeached. cheney musst be impeached. There is no other issue that is releavant with them in power. Everyone needs to understand that, speak that, yell that, and pass it on to everyone they talk to. Don't flinch for one second. IMPEACH!
