The Nation -- A former gay porn star and male escort was awarded the Jeanne
Kirkpatrick Freedom award at last weekend's CPAC. He is Cpl. Matt Sanchez, a
Marine, campus culture warrior and Fox News favorite who David Horowitz
introduced me to at CPAC.

you should absolutely NOT view if you are in the presence of minors or in a
crowded workplace. On my blog, I describe my meeting with Sanchez, discuss
his psychological similarities to Ann Coulter, and explain how personally

What to make of Matt Sanchez, the 36 year old Marine who's begun to make the
rightwing gab show circuit by complaining that (what a shocker) fellow
students at Columbia University don't like having a military presence at
their school, a Manhattan university.

If you are familiar with Cpl. Matt Sanchez, you probably know him as the handsome 36-year old Columbia University junior and USMC reservist who recently made the rounds of right-wing talk shows like O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes, where he received praise for coming forward and complaining about his treatment at the hands of Columbia's "radical anti-military students" who called him names and mocked his military service. Sanchez was then feted at the CPAC conference where Ann Coulter made her "faggot" remark.
OK Johnny, what is your purpose in posting all this stuff...
Gannon is old and worn-0ut news. Now we have a new 'hero' in these posts...this ersatz marine who was picked on by a few students at Columbia.
No mention of the heavily GOP funded on-campus Young Republicans who raise hell with everyone. That is, they do until confronted with enlistment forms so they can run right down and enlist for this war they favor so much.
You dredge up this crap, do not enlighten us with your purpose for doing so with personal comments, and want to go on and on about this guy and fellow-travelers.
The facts are that Gingrich and Coulter were also present and were speakers. Both are real 'family value' boosters as we already know.

I didn't ask Bob. Your thread starter led off with little info, few, if any, reasons for posting this stuff, and certainly without the more careful workup done by the posters at DU who did do a lot of background.
As for the hypocracy of the Repugs, we are well aware that they have won every reward available for such over the past 6 years or more.

There is of course nothing inherently wrong with Sanchez being a gay porn star or a male escort. His past is only notable because he chose to join a movement that exploits anti-gay sentiment for political gain. Coulter’s now-famous “faggot” remark was not an aberration, but rather a symbol of the politics of resentment that propels the conservative movement and its elected Republican surrogates; a reflection of the bigotry conservatives have sought to write into the Constitution through the so-called Federal Marriage Amendment. The ascendant “family values” wing of the right is also responsible for sabotaging legislation allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the armed forces, a maneuver that may now spell the end of Sanchez’s career.
As Sanchez marched down the road from the gay sex industry to the conservative movement, he followed in the footsteps of Jeff Gannon, Ted Haggard and many others. Whether Sanchez knew the right was filled with people just like him, something about it must have appealed to him.
Hmmm, maybe he should consider joining...
