Action alert-Petition to stop sale of dog/cat fur in the US.
I received this from the Humane Society today.
This story was also mentioned on both NBC and ABC
local news programs tonight.
Apparently, some items containing so called "faux fur"
is not "faux" at all. It is taken from dogs ( and cats)
mostly from China. I can't even describe the conditions.
Prohibiting this practice is coming up for a vote in Congress.

In Defense of Animals is taking action against the
dog/cat fur traders.
Thanks so much for your help.

The Elite trying to pull a fast one on us
Just because we don't make seven digit incomes, doesn't mean they can just sweat shop, real fur us, and dog us out in the world.
If there is a dog owner that wants to save the hair and have it as a keep sake to remember their pet, okay.
But mass manufacturing our poor dogs hair for profit and not even donating to an animal shelter, disgusting.
Shave Hillfiger's hair off and make a coat out of it, see how he likes it.
Uh, it's NOT hair we're
Uh, it's NOT hair we're talking about here, but fur. "Fur" includes the hide (pelt), which means that the animal must be skinned -- as in killed.
Gladly done...
I try to sign every Animal, Wildlife, and Environmental petition I find.

Fur of Cats and Dogs
We can't control the death and torture of people let alone animals in China.
Let's worry about this country right now.
The only problem with your
The only problem with your callousness, is that people who condone the exploitation of the helpless don't stop with animals.
If a civilization does not value all life, then devaluing human life is just another degree of inhumanity.
Thank you, Bill.
You've summed up very well
the cycle of indifference that evolves
from discounting the value of an animal's life.
Homo sapiens are animals, too.
People have a tendency to forget that.
Dove...

I hear this quite often. We are worried about this country.
And people in other countries as well.
And,some of us are also worried about wildlife, the humane treatment of domestic animals, as well as the environment. Both here and worldwide.
The American Humane Society hosts programs to aid in the prevention of cruelty to both animals and children. And they do extensive rescue and follow-up work for both, as well as sponsor legislation and keeps its members updated.
It is possible to care about more than one thing, and work toward a better, healthier, and more humane world for all living things; human, animal, and yes even trees.
Terry
I hear you and I'm
not heartless about the problem. Humane to all living things is supported by most people including myself. I worked in hosptials and medical research and can't be accussed of being inhumane to any living thing. My life and career was not callousness by any means.
I worry about genocide in Africa and Iraq, etc. more.
Do we want to make this a blog about animals and not politics?
Well, actually,
this thread started out as about as good of an example of grassroots politics as you find. An activist urging like-minded people to petition the congress of this country to ban imports of a certain product made under certain conditions. That's what grassroots politics is all about; people acting together to bring about desired results.
Terry
Dove, there are more areas
that need our help.
This is the first animal rights petition to be linked here in a while.
One thread does not change the dynamics of Democrats.com.
We support human rights, civil rights and yes, animal rights.
They are all interconnected.
I get so tired of hearing the argument that people who support animal
rights are neglecting human rights and important political issues.
Baloney!!
Thanks, Terry.
I appreciate your support
on this thread.

I agree
With Bill, Karen, and Terry. I am an animal lover and have dogs and cats. They all love me to death. My dogs would die for me. How can a society be enlightened and not stop the un-needed slaughter of animals for profit? It can't.
Thanks, Richard.

Thanks
For starting this node. A worthwhile pursuit I believe.....
