Impeachment Committee

We will collect letters to Representative Peter A. DeFazio (D - 4th District), listing reasons that the House must execute its duty to impeach George W. Bush and Richard Cheney. We will send the letters to Rep. DeFazio's office:

2134 Rayburn House Office Bldg
Washington, DC 20515
Phone: 202-225-6416
Fax: 202-225-0032

When we amass enough letters, we will request a meeting with Rep. DeFazio to share our community's concerns with him in person.

Impeachment is a mighty power that belongs to the people, and we must ensure that Rep. DeFazio is aware that he has our permission to wield it on our behalf.

Impeachement Plans

Hey, Smiley!  Sound's like a plan.  I am going to start collecting petitions and/or letters in Junction City on Sunday, June 10 at the Community Market.  Please let me know what you are doing at this point and when you plan to meet Representative DeFazio if you have not done so already.

Can't figure out how to contact you directly through this website, and therefore what good it is for organizing. But then I'm new here.

You can click on Smiley's

You can click on smiley's name in the original forum topic above (right after "Submitted by"), which will bring up his profile. Then click on the "Contact" tab, and send your e-mail...

Thanks,Bill

I'll try to navigate this. Blogging seems something like fishing to me.  You throw in a line, and though the lake is supposed to be full of fish, sometimes no bites!

Hi, Letswork.

It looks like Smiley has enabled his 'contact'
link, so you can e-mail him.

;-)

Doesn't seem to work.

Bill,

I click on 'Smiley', as you said, and I am taken to 'my settings' for Smiley. I do not see any button for contact.

It looks like "smiley" has

Why Doesn't DeFazio Want to Impeach? (yet)

I've been lobbying Cong. DeFazio to co-sponsor H.R. 333.

Please check the full text of my most recent Fax to his office at: http://www.marcbaber.com/Articles/DeFazioImpeachCheney.htm

Excerpt:

After Congressman Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment for Cheney, I started calling DeFazio’s office to ask, “Why haven’t you co-sponsored H.R. 333 yet?” When Reps. Lacy (MO) and Schakowsky (IL) co-sponsored on May first1, I contacted DeFazio again, saying “It’s too late to be number two or three, but you can still be number four”. When Rep. Russell (MD) co-sponsored on May 10, I left the message s “It’s too late to be number four, but you can still be number five”.

I recently received a response from DeFazio about why he hasn’t co-sponsored impeachment. Here is his response, dated May 21, 2007:

Dear Mr. Baber:

Thanks for your message in support of impeaching the president and vice president. I appreciate hearing from you.

I know we share many of the same concerns about President Bush and others in his administration. I have repeatedly used my voice...

Newpaper ads

Following local presentation of Bill Moyers Journal on Impeachment -- a powerful documentary-- local impeachment supporters put together two ads for the local newspaper, expected to run in the Roseburg (OR) News Review on Thurs 8-16 & Sun 8-19.

Sign me up

I just moved to Eugene and want to get involved in the impeachment movement here.  Are there any meetings planned?  How many signatures have we gotten so far?  Have we succeeded in catching Defazio's ear yet?  Looking for an update and an inroad.

Caleb

Caleb, DeFazio has just held

Caleb,

DeFazio has just held town hall meetings in Eugene, and will be visiting the southern counties in his district in the next few days. Here is his schedule: http://www.defazio.house.gov/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=324

At a couple of the local meetings, at least, he has been confronted on impeachment. I just heard that after discussion at a large Eugene meeting, he was sounding like he might be willing to change his mind and sign on. It was reported that he said, "Maybe I should sign on to it (referring to HR 333) just because the people in this room want me to." I don't know if that was with a serious tone of voice or not, as I was not there. You should know he has already signed on to the impeachment inquiry on Alberto Gonzalez.

Code Pink and others in Eugene are working on this. I am in Junction City. I have been using www.impeachspace.com to make contact with folks with some success.

John

Wish you guys luck in Roseburg...

it has to be more red than blue. Below that is the christian-nazi town of Grants Pass.

Even though he is not hot on the idea, he is still a stonger rep than our 'winpy Waldon' in the 2nd district. I'm over the hills in Kalamity Flats.

thanks

too late for the townhall meetings.  But I wrote him (another) letter and got an impeachspace page.  My screenname is the same as here, frizian, if you want to find me there.

Impeach Cheney/Bush and all criminals in this admin.

I'm certain about the criminal nature of this administration, and the very possible complicity with 9/11 which is not being investigated, and all attempts at getting critical info on it are being stonewalled. As a nation, this citizenry are being piratized, not privatized. We are in a fascist, domineering, unaccountable governance that in our past history has brought on angry and definitive revolution. This time around it can't be bloody or violent, but it has to happen starting with impeachment, then on to indictment, sentencing, and jailing of the elite corrupting forces that have ruined the nation that was so evolving into a benevolent and free society, and is now put us into slave nation debt and behaving in an overt criminal fashion. Hang 'em high!
