Democratic Underground

I posted on this site, I posted the truth, these people who run this site are hurting our party. Rush Limbaugh reads the posts on this site daily. They are the same group as the SDS that disrupted the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

They are listing all Democratic links, they revoked me, banned me from posting and this only proves that they are not who they say they are.

Please check into this, it will hurt us. Democrats don't revoke Democrats, these people don't know history, they don't know anything about our platform. They are trouble.

THEY ONLY SPEW HATE....PLEASE TAKE A HARD LOOK AT THIS SITE. Kathy Schroeder

Kathy, I'm not sure if you are discussing DU or Dems.com...

DU, like Dems.Com, suffer the same maladies: trolls who may be Repugs or Indie or Greens. The mods there, like the mods here, frequently are called upon to clean up the boards.

Thats why both sites have rules:

http://www.democrats.com/rules

At DU, they have had to be absolutely merciless from time to time. What Rush does is the Oxycontin Queen's business. All Dem sites frequently quote from freerepublic and the rest of their merry band of thugs.

If you get caught up in a sweep, shrug and go on with your business. It is not a matter of life and death.

If you spend time reading here...or over at DU, you frequently see posts that are obviously trollish in nature. After a while, you figure out who is reputable here and over there...and then you don't waste your time reading the trolls.

Trolls enter a site to disrupt and cause confusion. They are pleased when people respond.

As we get further into the new congress and the upcoming elections, you will find that the troll attacks occur more frequently. Teams of trolls and in some cases now of robomessages, can be successful from their perspective. No doubt about it, they do cause disinformation to flow across the net.

All sites are afflicted so don't take it personally.

Democrats.com

I have found everyone on this site to be nice and thoughtful to one another, we are all on the same side.

I had never heard of DU until day before yesterday and it was brought to my attention by a friend. I was shocked over the filth.

We have good discussions on this board. I guess what bothered me the most was the links, and guilt by association. I didn't like seeing the organizations I have worked for listed on their site as if we support their mindset.

Also, on this site unless someone is just out there no one is revoked for speaking their minds. On DU it clearly is an attack on freedom of speech. I understand they have the right to ban anyone they want. I do not want to be a part of that discussion on DU. I have always enjoyed the exchange on this site and I appreciate this site for it's honesty and give and take. Kathy

I was talking about DU only

Democrats.com does a great job. I am proud to be part of a group that speaks the truth and does it with class. Unlike DU

LOL! For the first time in 6 years, I lost 3 posts at DU...

I thought it hilarious. The thread in which I was posting looks like a firing squad went through and took out almost everyone. Needless to say, the thread was about Edwards and something that he said--or did not say.

My reaction, shrug, laugh it off, and continue to post. DU right now is loaded with trolls from freerepublic, from Green trolls attacking almost everyone else, Indies doing the same, and the poor Mods are obviously working overtime trying to keep the threads under some sort of control.

Happens sometimes. It has happened like that here from time to time. A few years ago, we had Dean supporters and Kucinich supporters going for each others throats.

Things heat up and if you lose a post or two, just keep posting. The trolls making trouble will find another spot to pester and things will settle down.

This site and DU have had a close relationship for years. Things do heat up in an election year. This year will be no exception.

I agree Kathy, DU is very suspicious...what a koinkydink (not?)

They deleted my post too, of Scott Ritter's video about Israel's Influence on US foreign policy and Israeli Lobby. They allowed someone else to post a phoney title of a link, however, that said Jimmy Carter is "anti-Semetic" (not actual title of article). When I questioned what was going on , they banned me completely. DU is very, very intimidating "thought-police" and DU censors by violating their own ground rules.

Something is fishy at DU. Maybe AIPAC pays them more than I did (more than $10?)

DU has certain rules that must be followed, just as we do here..

if you consider these rules to be similar to traffic signals, perhaps they will make more sense to you.

Sometimes, at DU, a post or thread is taken directly to a thread that is allowed for certain topics: i.e. Israel or abortion or a dozen other topics that are not allowed in breaking news, general discussion, or gen. discussion politics. You might have to check that out. The rules at DU are the first entries in each posting board. By doing things this way, fighting and disruption is avoided.

If the posters write carelessly, there is always a chance that they may break the site rules. This could be what happened. DU is a very reputable site overall.

Grinch, if I could just add

Grinch, if I could just add one observation: sometimes it is more the "tone" of what's being said, than the actual words, that get people unpublished or banned.

This applies to most moderated sites.

Absolutely correct Bill...just skimmed DU and find...

that the screwballs are in full voice all over the major threads. Poorly written pieces suffer more than carefully crafted ones. Hard to tell with the poorly educated sometimes.

Apologies to Caro for taking her blog so far off the subjects.

Video that DU owner said was ok to post at I/P forum was deleted

It was just a Youtube video. Originally I posted video in new Video Forum at DU, and it got deleted.
When I asked owner why by PM, owner of DU told me to post video at I/P forum. I did , and then it got deleted again!

Scott Ritter was recommending that AIPAC register as a foreign agent. This would eliminate AIPAC's non-profit organization status and place AIPAC under scrutiny by the Foreign Agency Registration Act (FARA).

nomoreneocons...you really need to read our rules...

particularly when you get too close to anything I/P.

http://www.democrats.com/rules

You get into these topics and you can get banned here as well. There are reasons for this.

Moderators change at DU every 90 days or so. It is relatively new crew at DU right now...and they have their hands full.

Did you discuss this matter with Skinner?

I have read the rules

and I am not talking about Israel/Palestine... I am talking about AIPAC's connection to PNAC to "cook the books" in the Pentagon to start the Iraq War. If we cannot talk about this openly, how are we going to stop the Iraq War if we cannot freely discuss the roots of the war. This is America. I am trying to discuss THE IRAQ WAR involving American soldiers and its root causes on an American site.

I was banned , I could not discuss it with Skinner by PM anymore, so I emailed him to refund my ten dollars to my credit card.

Anne I was blocked because I told the truth

I was revoked because I corrected many posts that were just wrong from a historical standpoint and I pleaded with them to not spew so much hate. We have so much to worry about with the upcoming elections than to spend it on the death of a president. The things they said were terrible. I never supported nor liked President Ford, but I don't speak ill of the dead. They were so ugly and used such fowl language and it reflects on our party.

Thanks, Kathy

Thank you

I appreciate your support. I have never had experiences on this board as I experienced on DU. Our country's future hinges on gaining more ground in Congress and taking back the White House. I just don't see how these type of sites can allow the people who post to speak false statements. And, if you try to use common sense and explain that they have their history incorrect, or at least ask them to tone it down they delete your posts and ban you from using the site.

Then for Rush and other talk radio to spew this and spin this site as what the Democratic Party stands for is just plain wrong. I would think that if the DU is true to the beliefs of the Dems they would work as hard as we all do for victory. At the rate they are going they will influence many people, hopefully those will be the ones who spew hate and do not vote. Just like the people who post on DU, I do not think they have paid their dues. I have been in the trenches......18-20 hour days during presidential, congressional, senatorial and state campaigns.

I guess we will just have to work harder to get the message out and distance ourselves from the groups who feed the uninformed masses. My posts were not ugly they were factual and probably frustrating in tone but these people represent to me such hate.

I am still very suspicious of this group. I put nothing past Karl Rove and Company and the religious right. They will do whatever it takes to mislead the voters about the Democratic Party.

We are the party of the people. We do not represent hate, but common sense, atonement, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, well, I could go on and on.

Thank you for writing me. I was feeling pretty disgusted after that experience with DU. As Democrats we must be loyal and stand strong together and win in 2008. Kathy Schroeder
