Are there any folks out there who would like to get together and discuss what issues matter to us individually and which issues would appeal to other Dems in our U.S. District--PA 18?

Republicans are making inroads in our traditionally Democratic area. They meet at a restaurant in my little town. I don't attend church in this area because I worship in Pittsburgh, but I believe local clergy are pro-Republican--even if they don't say that point blank from the pulpit. So the Cons have cultural opportunities--while eating and worshiping--to gather and discuss politics. That's much more effective than committee meetings.

Dems need to create opportunities for us to get together and not only disucss the issues but find ways to communicate to registered Dems who may be too busy or have little interest in attending meetings or even have detailed discussions about politics. Of course, registering new folks is always on the table. That could be at a restaurant or inviting people to watch a movie and having coffee afterwards.

Most people here have no clue about the ethical and staffing problems that Bushbot Murphy has. The regional newspaper, the Observer-Reporter, NEVER prints anything negative about him. There are a ton of problems that affect local citizens, yet they are unconscious about them. That doesn't mean they don't want to know. They just want small bites of important facts. And they have to realize that the media won't address the issues that impact them. Then they have to be reminded of both those important facts and that the media's agenda isn't their agenda.

I know some people who could provide some how-to organizing info. But I'd like some folks from my congressional district who loggin onto this web site give me some input. You may have ideas that are different but more appealing to people where you live.
