DLC’s Revisionist History on Iraq Knows No Bounds

DLC’s Revisionist History on Iraq Knows No Bounds

Writing on the Murtha-Hoyer battle, the DLC’s Ed Kilgore says, “It’s not as though Steny has done anything to undermine House Democrats in their criticism of Bush Iraq policies.” Really? Wow. I guess it was the other Steny Hoyer who last year attacked Murtha’s Iraq announcement in the Washington Post as an idea that “could lead to disaster.” I guess it was the other Steny Hoyer who days after that attack, “told colleagues that Pelosi’s recent endorsement of a speedy withdrawal [from Iraq] combined with her claim that more than half of House Democrats support her position, could backfire on the party.”

Revisionist history knows no bounds in Washington, D.C. And the chief historical revisionists are those desperate souls at corporate front groups like the DLC that are grasping for something - anything - to justify their existence after this year’s election.

I know, I know. It’s really tough right now for people like Ed Kilgore, Al From, Marshall Wittman, Will Marshall and Bruce Reed. It’s depressing for people like them to have to look at the election of anti-Iraq-War economic populists all over the country and figure out ways to claim that the election was a mandate for their tired brand of corporatism. But depression is no excuse for dishonesty - especially when it comes to a race for the second most powerful position in the U.S. House. Steny Hoyer and his K Street Project may be the apple of the DLC’s eye, but Democrats deserve to have this leadership election happen in a way that takes into account the real record - not historical revisionism.

In the immortal words of Mao, Hoyer is a corporate...

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.

I wonder what it's like to play handmaiden to Lieberman?

Follow the money…? Steny is from Maryland, and the University of Maryland and the State of Maryland are deep in the pockets of Lucent Technologies (Bell Labs). One day after Steny is “elected” as Majority Leader, Dubya approves the takeover of Lucent by the French company, Alcatel.

Coincidence? Pay off to keep Murtha out of Dubya's hair? Inquiring minds want to know...

Bill, somehow I knew this would garner your attention

......FOLLOW THE MONEY -

Democrats' Stock Is Rising on K Street" blared a recent Washington Post story detailing moves by former Democratic lawmakers and staff to cash in as corporate lobbyists. "Corporate Contributions Shift to the Left," read an earlier Wall Street Journal story about how "big companies are boosting their share of campaign contributions to Democrats."

This trend is undoubtedly pleasing party leaders like House minority whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD). Until he was criticized for doing so, Hoyer proudly posted a Roll Call story on his official taxpayer-sponsored website, headlined "Hoyer's Own K Street Project," about how he was starting a fund-raising operation to shake down corporate lobbyists for cash. Those efforts likely benefited from the services of one Gina Mahoney, who according to the National Journal "does double duty" for Hoyer, serving both as his senior legislative adviser and as his political fund-raising entity's chief "liaison to K Street and the business community." Such "liaising" might explain why, following the indictment of lobbyist-manipulator Jack Abramoff last year, Hoyer made sure he was featured in The Hill newspaper reassuring the corporate community that he "has sought to make himself the first contact for K Street" and that he would continue holding regular meetings with their lobbyists.

CP, I really hate to say it,

CP, I really hate to say it, but the only difference between the DLC neocons and the Republican neocons is -- the Republicans don't hide behind a lie. They are what they are, and don't particularly care who knows it.

Al From, Will Marshall, and their "New Democrat" sheep are con artists who masquerade as Democrats, while feeding at the same corporate banquets as the Republicans.

The K Street boys and girls are like professional wrestlers: they growl at each other in the ring, but go out drinking together after the match. They are just one big organized crime syndicate giving away taxpayer money to corporations for a share of the profits. That's the real meaning of trickle down Raygunomics.

Having said all of that, I think that I will place a buy order for 500 shares of Lucent stock on Monday morning...;-)

Except GOP"mythical maverick McCain" tries to hide his neoconism

He's such a con artist there are still Democrat voters that have no idea he has been strong idealogue for Iraq Invasion even before it happened.

The scenario we cannot tolerate in 2008 is McCain vs a DLC candidate.

The same applies to his

The same applies to his bosom buddy, Lieberman.

Keep a close eye

An all attack by Many in the Media is being waged.
They must save Bush and Cheney, apparently.

The so called Pelosi Loss does not merit the amount
of TV Time or Ink on the pages of the Major Papers
it is receiving.

Nothing has changed. Standup against the war and
if necssary we will destroy you.

Yesterday Bush: "We can win in Iraq if we stay there"
Cheney gave a big speech at the Federalist Society
Meeting and you would have to conclude that not
one iota of opinion has changed in WH. Stay the
Course.

Every effort is being made to marginalize and if
necessary destroy anyone who disagrees. The Media
have become Bush's Willing Warriors.
Such name calling. Nancy is Schrew??? Nancy is
the Wicked Witch of the West????

In other words, Sit down and Shutup. We Republicans
plan to win the next election and we have alrseady
started our campaign.

Democrats in House and Senate had better wake up and
smell the coffee.
