Hey, Corporate Media: Dictatorship is NOT Democracy.

For decades, now, Republicans in Congress have become accustomed to following the herd, without question or challenge. This time around, they’ve gone overboard in their lemming response to their own leadership as they willingly cooperated in waging an illegal war, supporting torture, and weakening our precious Constitution. In that process Republicans have unashamedly embraced dictatorship as a replacement for debate and discussion, and blind obedience to their handlers as a substitute for any legitimate election process.

They are now trying to validate that philosophy through their complicit media hirelings on the so-called news networks that most Americans still turn to for their nightly source of information.

Trent Lott’s election to his earlier post in the Senate was hailed by every television ‘news’ pundit - other than Keith Olbermann - as a laudable victory over an opponent. But, lo and behold, the corresponding Democratic challenge for leadership was reviled as a defeat for Nancy Pelosi and a nasty catfight among the new House members-elect.

This unified assessment was undoubtedly another example of how the media collectively repeat the same daily talking point. Pelosi was criticized for her inability to manipulate and control a secret ballot. Her influence as the new Speaker was undermined because she could not dictate and deliver a vote for someone she supported. To a pundit, the network parrots characterized a fair and honest election among Congressional Democrats as a serious rift in the party and a damaging weakness of leadership for Pelosi....

Recovering the Fairness Doctrine

Corporate Media better hope that Fairness Doctrine is re-enacted fast. Americans are relying more and more on the internet and foreign press for their news. The competition is making Corporate Media obsolete.

Sometimes you question, their ability to do critical

thinking, even their logic at times--Oh that Corporate
Media. Not all, but many of them seem to only capable of
thinking only "black and white, absolutitist" thought. Reality requires being able to discern and deal with shades of gray. Life is lived in shades of gray. Oh yes, I forgot they simply carry water for the WH.

This past week is a real doozy where the Media is concerned.

They were all over Murtha like a dog after a bone. Because
they simply decided they did not like or did not want Murtha to have the office, the dogs went rabid. How they
look themselves in the mirror, I will never know.
Did someone say they have no conscience?? There is
evidence to question this. It is bad enough for
Candidates to go back 25 years and drag out something
from the past as a smear job. It doubly irresponsible
for journalists to repeat the smear over and over,
especially when there had never been charges brought.
I watched the journalist who did the story for
WaPo ---When the callers confronted her with the
facts, she admitted she did not like the idea
of a Congressman even being around " people like that".
I have news for her--Congressmen have to be around
all kinds of people(constituents who may not be angels).
A real snob who apparently does not believe a person
can change.

Also Murtha is accused of taking pork for votes.
What are the Media doing--those who work on Capital
Hill. This is the way Congress has been run the
last 6 years under Republicans.

I will not embarass them here and now, but I
have a list of 9 DLCers who traded their vote
on that Bad Medicare Bill for some Pork for each
of their districts. The Republicans wanted
to say the Bill was BiPartisan and our 9 Regulars
cooperated. (Senators)

I stopped counting when I realized that there were
a lot, lot lot of Republicans who got lots and
lots of pork for their votes on a lot of issues.

When DeLay strong armed or broke the knees of
members of his party--the Media response was--
"He is doing what he has to do to keep discipline."
When Nancy Pelosi was accused of strong arming
the Media acted shocked shocked shocked. Oh My
this is so terrible.

BTW, conflicting stories about whether Nancy Pelosi
really strong armed people or could we have 26 people
in our party who can look two people in the eye,
commit a vote at 9pm then early the next am. vote
against them with no advance warning. We just
may have some people with poor character.

Oh,yes, Now, how about the time Boehner was caught
passing out checks to House members from The Tobacco
Lobbyists. Yep, right there on the Congressional
floor. "Oh, there is nothing illegal," says that
Wapo Journalist I am so furious I draw a blank
on her name. I have to punish Murtha for talking
to Shady People. Those Shady People were FBI
sting operation Murtha was never charged so why dwell on
it 26 years later, His constituents have elected
him 10 times since.

The Corporate Media, Oh yes, they are so afraid
when it comes to holding the WH and Republicans
accountable, they overdo it when it is Democrats.
Overcompensating??? You would have to be blind not
see the Double Standard re Media treatment of Dems
versus treatment of Republicans.
