We must act as quickly as possible to start investigations that could lead to the impeachment of George W. Bush.

This is not about revenge. This is not to get Speaker Hastert or Speaker Pelosi elevated to President (in fact, I recommend only impeaching Bush, not Cheney). This is not a coup.

This is about setting a precedent that there is no such thing as a Unitary Executive.

We must establish that any future president (such as Cheney) who claims the powers of a Unitary Executive will be quickly removed. We must establish that this country does not torture, does not search without a warrant, does not hold prisoners without due process. We must establish that failure to provide a truthful State of the Union is a serious constitutional usurpation of the ability of Congress to provide a balance of power. We must establish that a signing statement cannot be used to pick and choose pieces of laws to enforce or to effectively veto. We must establish that a treaty is the law of the land that cannot be deleted by executive order.

MSNBC is currently conducting a non-scientific poll on impeachment. With well over 300,000 votes, it is 87% in favor of starting the impeachment process!

Failure to act will lead future presidents to point to the "precedent" set by this administration and by Congress' inaction. Failure to act will establish that there is, in fact, a Unitary Executive. Failure to act will end the balance of powers in our Constitution.

Act now to preserve and protect the constitution by impeaching the alleged Unitary Executive.
