Legislative Recess on Proposal To Pass Discriminatory Legislation

Relief on Recess of Barbaric Legislation

To the Honorable Governor Mitt Romney, et. al., To His Excellency, the Honorable Deval L. Patrick, Governor-elect:

Dear Sir:

What a relief this wicked abomination of a scheme to upset social justice failed to go forward with the Nov. 9 109-87 vote by lawmakers to recess the so-called “Proposed Constitutional Amendment to Ban Same-Sex Marriage”. Evil intent is the puppetmaster behind such an ill-conceived initiative; fear its loyal subject. This horrible idea was propagated by the mean in spirit, the vesitges of humanity’s dark past we are trying to breed out of a just and modern society. Attempting to bring the pledge of marriage between consenting adults under the mixed control of state and religion hearkens to the days of slavery, and other human chattel. Congratulations to all those who managed to block this measure for the time being. It is both a victory for maintenance of separation of church and state, and social justice. Massachusetts must protect the human rights of minority classes who choose in full knowledge to live by the dictates of their conscience. If preservation of the sanctity of marriage is at the heart of this issue, perhaps the legislature should instead consider legislation against divorce. The very fact that such consideration is absent is proof of the archaic traditions that have kept our Commonwealth from prosperous enjoyment and superior quality of life.

Sincerely,
