illegal immigration

I think that there is an answer to the illegal alien controversy.
These people, mainly from Mexico, come for jobs to support their
families. Don't wast money on a border fence, rather create jobs in
Mexico. We are reliant on China, a repressive totalitarian regime
for numerous manufactured goods. Provide incentives for the product-
ion of these goods in Mexico. This should help with the illegal
immigration problem and curb China's rapid growth as a economic and
military threat.

Throw slave labor bosses in prison

and there is no problem.

Conservative. A statesman who is enamored of existing evils, as distinguished from a Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others

~Ambrose Bierce, 1842-1914, American Author, Editor, Journalist.

Peter, you are right that

creating more jobs in Mexico is a solution
to this problem.

What I see missing is any initiative proposed by Calderon,
the President-elect.

It's too bad Obrador did not succeed in challenging the
election results. He would have helped to accomplish this.

WHY?

My first time here, but have read Democrats.com before, if you catch my drift.

This is one of the few places that I have seen the answer, helping Mexico so they don't have to leave to feed their families. It is so obvious.

But no one brings up that part of the issue.

Can we say, much like Communism, we just need an enemy.

I have fought with Democrats on this. This is an issue, no doubt. But watch it disappear after the election.

BTW.....Al Gore for President

Get rid of the bait.

Get rid of the bait of illegal jobs: http://www.democrats.com/node/10031

Get rid of the bait inexpensively and on a time scale that allows human beings a chance to adapt, then focus aid to States with a then SMALL, but specific illegal entry problem.

Welcome, skeeters

The Mexican President, Vicente Fox, reportedly criticized the "fence solution" and endorses plans to end exploitation of workers and improve opportunities in their native countries.

I saw Bill Clinton in Milwaukee last week, and he made an excellent observation about how our national debt is being funded: by borrowing from other countries like China, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Mexico. His point was that we are draining money out of their national economies to finance our debt and in so doing, are impeding those nations economic development, especially hard on poor countries like Mexico. If the money stayed there, it could be used to improve their impoverished lifestyles, but instead it is siphoned off for the US debt.

i think helping mexico will

i think helping mexico will solve our problems and theirs.

Now if we can get this in Congress and the Senate's head

I say we should make sure they know about this on the Republican side and the democrat side.

If they weren't so hooked up in the illegal system put in place in 1989, allowing them to freely come over here through illegal coyote's profiting on the travel expenses.

I say our leaders should talk to the President of Mexico and state that his people will be returning and we will assist in helping you start jobs programs for your people.  I don't see  how we can give anymore jobs though, we (African) Americans have no jobs either that support our families without neglect of our children.

Soon though.  We do have ideas on how Mexico's tourism can be increased with a reduced mugging and crime rate.

If we as unified countries should have anything in common, it's international and domestic terrorism in our countries.  One dirty bomb could kill millions and Mexico must do a better job of securing their border side and screening people or else no jobs program assistance and mass return of the illegal Mexican population that has invaded our country illegally.  IF it is a matter of the anchor babies, than just keep those families, but deportation is manditory until our Legal Immigration system is fixed and borders secure.

Our illegal immigration is like a sand hill, only it will never become a hill because, the sand just keeps rolling down on the American People and their tax dollars are rolling down to Mexico.

We are at war and another baby on our dependant list is out.  WE are at War and our jobs and funds are limited enough for our own people.  Why didn't George work on that during his six years in office?

Mexico is a lot closer than Iraq.  He could have used his democracy agenda there in Mexico to vote the crooks out and elect a President that cares about his people's welfare.

Oops!  George doesn't know how to united people.  Sorry, thinking of the Clinton Presidency, you know the respect and the unity in the world, we once had when Bill was there.

Give our Legal Felons of non-violent capacity the chance to enter in society, with a dignified good paying job to prevent recurrance of crime due to no income to support their families through court ordered Child Support.  Training schools for Americans First!!!

America First!!!!

Enough of the Bush IT!!!

The immigration issue

I have many friends and colleagues who are Mexican.  The reason there is a demand for Mexican employees is that they work like bulls and demand so little.  When I bought my house and was working to install the Sod in my front yard, it was my Mexican neighbors whom VOLLUNTEERED to help me with the laborious job.  They work endlessly and had to be reminded to take breaks to eat.We own a ranch in Mexico - when there is a family in need, the town pitches in to help the family.  Everyone is poor - so pride in one's work is the product of being the same as everyone else.  They strive to show their value by displaying pride in their own family’s ethics in work.  The sad thing in Mexico is that there are no jobs to support the families.  There is much that can be done to change this - the country is very beautiful and the people are basically pure of heart.  The family unity is such that families don't grow apart - they grow together. The work ethic was demonstrated recently as written up in Huffington Post.  A town in Georgia had many illegal immigrants  deported during an Immigration raid on a factory.  In the weeks that followed the desperate owners tried offering the positions to many other Americans. They offered double and sometimes triple the wages they offered to the Mexican employees.  That wasn't enough - the employees worked for (at the most) one week and then quit saying the work was too hard and that the company didn't offer health insurance.  The company eventually went back to it's original work base to prevent going bankrupt.   This is the real reason we need Mexican workers.Who is performing the work on the fence on the Mexican line - Mexicans.  Nobody wants to go to the heated desert to do the work.  What a shame - aside from building jobs in Mexico - We need to instill a better work ethic in the USA.  Teach our kids that there is no shame in picking fruits and vegetables in the hot fields of California and New Mexico or any number other areas where our nation's produce is grown.  Teach that cleaning homes and working in other miserable jobs is not bad - instill a work ethic which place one’s pride in their work OVER their personal Pride. This is why no matter how high the fence or how strict the law is - the Mexican will get the job.
