If the most recent poll was the election, Governor Kulongoski would have won by seven percent! But wait! The election isn't over until November 7, and we need your help getting voters to cast their ballots for the Democratic ticket.
In more than 50 precincts, most of which are in "safe" house districts, turnout among voters is running behind that of the county.
There are only five days, including today, to come in and help. We have 25,000 people who can only be contacted at the doorstep because we do not have current phone numbers for them. We have another 25,000 that can only be reached by phone because they are inaccessible by canvassers.
That means we need hundreds of canvassers and phone bankers between now and Election Day in order for us to hit the voter turnout we need to win on November 7th.
We'll be canvassing Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. On Saturday and Sunday we need to average 200+ canvassers per day to hit our numbers. On Monday and Tuesday, we need dozens more to help hit the last of the voters who have not turned in their ballots.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Contacting voters by phone runs every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on Election Day when we'll start at 9 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
We especially need people who can help all day Monday and/or Tuesday.
To sign up to help, e-mail field@multdems.org, call 503-239-8646, click here to sign up online, or come by 232 NE 9th in Portland.

Please join the Evans family, campaign volunteers and special guests Governor Ted Kulongoski and Congresswoman Darlene Hooley at a send-off rally for Oregon Senate District 10 Candidate Paul Evans. Paul Evans -- war veteran and National Guardsman, educator, former Monmouth Mayor and candidate for the Oregon Senate -- announced that he will accompany the 116th Air Control Squadron to Afghanistan. Evans will be deployed the following day, November 5th, two days before he will know whether or not he is elected to the Oregon legislature. He will return home in early January in time to serve in the State Senate if elected. Dedicated volunteers will take the helm to get out the vote in the final stretch. Ted Kulongoski Campaign Headquarters Saturday, November 4 Admission is free and all are invited! RSVP to 503-365-0695 Thank you for taking the time to read today's volunteer e-mail. With only one week to go, we especially need your help in ensuring victory for Democrats on November 7th.
