Impeachment
I was horrified to receive an email from democrats.com that actually advocated that if democrats win the House, they will ignore Nancy Pelosi. John Conyers will call for the investigations that will lead to impeachment.
I believe that the president has committed impeachable offenses, however he only has two years left until his term ends. More importantly, Democrats have the chance to do good for the American people and hopefully set themselves up for a win in 2008.
Impeachment would be a huge distraction from all the important work that needs to be done, especially undoing some of the bad legislation.
This same email had a request to sign a petition to stop the war that Cindy Sheehan will take to the White House. I think she is an embarrassment to the Democratic party and should just go quietly away. I have no respect for any American citizen who would stand next to Hugo Chavez. This is why Democrats LOSE!
We have too many members who would rather be progressively correct than
win elections. This is why I don't donate to the party at the national level - not as long as Howard Dean is the party chairman.

Valsmon, why be horrified? Impeachment is a GOOD thing!
Why would receiving an email about impeaching a totalitarian president, who has aspirations of a would-be dictator, horrify you? Bush’s list of egregious lies, subversion of our rule of law, shredding of the Constitution and denial of civil liberties and basic human rights is the greatest threat to this country, ever. Allowing this president to sit in office another two years is merely a sign of submission and appeasement for a high-handed criminal who has violated his oath of office at ever turn. Impeaching Bush should be the FIRST order of business that a Democratic House undertakes.
We have destroyed two nations; ours and Iraq under Bush. 2,800 American Soldiers are dead. 20,000 are forever wounded. 655,000 Iraqis are dead. Iraq is in the middle of a sectarian civil war – that we created – and our country is nearing 400 billion for the poorer due to Bush’s pre-emptive, unfounded imperialistic jaunt through the Middle East.
May I suggest, as a new member, that you view this list: http://www.democrats.com/post-election-change and take in account ALL of the things that we democrats want to try and accomplish with a majority rule. There is no shortage of agendas and issues that must be undone. However, if we fail to impeach this president, then the bar for impeachment – and therefore an open invitation will be created for immoral men with despotic dreams – to be set so high that presidents will become authoritarian rulers and untouchable.
Cindy Sheehan has never aligned herself with the Democratic Party. She is an anti-war/peace activist and many of us here agree with views, me being one of them. Exactly how is Cindy an embarrassment? Have you lost a love one in a war aggression, based on lies and perpetrated by rich, white men who dodged the armed services of their country when they were young only to send our generations youngest and brightest to fight in an illegal bloodbath over oil and war profiteering?
Please tell me why you have a problem with Howard Dean? How much do you know about him?
