From a red state
Seems to me we are just in the minority of thought anymore. Even the states we carried, like PA, NJ, (even Mass.) barely won or had even smaller margins than in 2000. For God's sake Edwards couldn't even deliver his own state! (Al lost Tenn. in 2000, too.)We lost the Senate & even more House seats on top of that.
Maybe we should just start listening to what the other side is saying instead of whistling in the dark in forums like these. I mean, all we do here is listen to people that are saying the same things. (Preaching to the choir?) No wonder the poles (polls?) are moving further & further apart. The extremests on the right do the same thing but they're winning.
I think the Republicans did a good job of portraying Kerry as an amoral, weak kneed extreme liberal. All I heard about here was how he was Catholic but still supports abortion. Things like that come off as dishonest or two faced. (People in the red states don't want to ban abortion but they keep voting for Bush.) Kerry's confusing comments on the war didn't help either. Was he gonna pull the troops out or not? I never knew what he meant when he said things like Saddam "wouldn't necesarily" still be in power. Would he have gone to ("the wrong") war, too?
I think we need to field a candidate from nearer to the mainstream, preferably even from a red state. The last thing we need to do is keep shooting ourselves in the foot with candidates easily painted as "extremest" (from Massachusets, or Hillary). I think it was too easy with Gore's ("no controling legal authority")association with Clinton (perjury conviction)and all of Kerry's supposed flip-flops, for the people in the red states to feel like they could trust them. With "moral issues" high on the list of priorities for voters in the red states the feeling of trust had to be a huge factor. I don't know but that the top of the ticket had coat tails and pulled down a lot of good people like Daschle with him in the Senate & the House.
What ever we're doin, or what ever we're thinkin, ain't workin!

Seeing What Republicans have to Say...
Ha... They pretty much just think we're psycho-- and talk about their guns and liberal stupidity... nothing long or logical... Although I have only visited two republican sites. I am not republican, so I would just disagree... However... For next time-- it would be good to see what some of their wants are (Not All) And perhaps compromise a Tad........ OR-- Get more dem votes in close states. Seriously-- I think that is better. Dems and Republicans are not alike...
Bush was good at persuading-- and he lived up to his frame. You know.. his mispronounciation of words didn't exist when he was running for senator. You can view his old ads. He was just working with the frame the media set up for him-- and it helped him win. Kerry had a rough start... and Bush got on his voting record-- Bush left kerry with no options, other than Bush Bashing-- and that hurt him. Next time, the dem candidate running should be more prepared for that tatic..

Democrats as the minority..
I am not sure that that is completely true... I somewhat feel that Bush just does a better job at tearing apart his candidate in a way that is pleasing to the public.. or at least enough of the public to gain him votes.... I'd say just continue to be heard-- and keep your hopes up for 2008!

why you lost 10 reasons
The "superior" more educated elitist attitude of most Democrats instead of connecting with the common blue collar America (then getting a candidate like Kerry and Tah-rah-za Heins for Chrisakes as proof positive "we are rich elitists therefore we must know better than you"
Political activism and terrorism c'mon all you see liberals doing when they can't get their way is resorting to law suits instead of elections, rioting in the streets such as the antiwar protests bombing and destroying property etc.
Basing your voting base on the minority vote, Blacks are finally starting to realize that if they want to be a part of the winning team then they might want to go Republican and then stereotyping most of them into the Ghetto class, uneducated (see above) crack dealing sociopaths that somehow need the great white Democrats to save them. Yet most are more traditional family oriented that you will ever realize (why Clinton appealed to them from a working class single parent home than Kerry rich elitist ever would)
Basing the vote on the younger generation c'mon most of these lackluster me generation slackers are too stupid to know how to pull a voting machine crank or can read a ballot thanks to what you did to the public school system. Or stay off the bong or their girlfriends long enough to vote.
Failing to realize that outside the urban areas exists a whole country and that country is made up of older, traditional American families instead of the single up and coming Yuppies of the urban areas.
Voting against traditional American Values in a time when patriotism actually means something again.
Being so stuck on yourselves you refuse to believe that just maybe the Republican party is not the redneck bubba's that you believe but is actually made up of God fearing traditional American families that most of you are from yet want to see destroyed.
eek* Speaking up for Blacks + Youth
Ok* So SOME of the youth (people under 30) do not vote-- but on my campus we had a Huuuge turn out. It really does VARY. You cannot jump to conclusions...... And of those who did not vote, they did not vote because they were stupid (unlike some that did BLINDLY vote for Bush or Kerry) but because they did not do their homework and figure out which candidate was best for Them. Thats a GOOD Choice.
And as for blacks-- The republican party is against A LOT of minority programs, including Affirmative action... I don't think blacks voting for Dems or Repubs really makes a difference-- It's the values. I mean-- If people want to say that all blacks are in gettos and stupid-- hey... but you know-- Things are changing.. and there are blacks with money who still vote for Dems FOR a Reason. ...and a good number of poor blacks don't vote.........
