How can we turn the tide in CA?

The numbers aren't good.

A recent San Jose State U poll shows;

Schwarzenegger- 46%
Angelides - 33%
Undecided - 21%

Phil's ad campaign linking Ahnuld to GW hasn't had much of an effect
on the voters.

http://tinyurl.com/wcfx5

"They know he's a Republican, but they don't see him as Bush's evil twin,'' said Phil Trounstine, who heads the San Jose State research center. "To some degree, he has neutralized his Republican partisanship.''

While the California governor campaigned for Bush in Ohio, a crucial state in the 2004 election, the voters in Democratically leaning California simply are not holding it against him, Trounstine said. He notes while two-thirds of Californians who disapprove of Bush "favor Angelides by a 53-27 percent margin,'' the poll also showed that "people's opinions about Bush are not driving their vote in the governor's race. What's driving their vote is economy, taxes, education and immigration.''

We need to get the word out that Phil will reduce taxes for
the middle and lower income residents of our state. That counters one of
the biggest fear factors the Repubs are using against Angelides.

His campaign team isn't getting this done.

Don't let the Republican Party of California hoodwink our state, again.

Let's get the truth out this time around.

Karin...someone on KGO, either Bernie, Ray, or John Rothman...

on the air the other night, added up the amounts proposed as loans for the transportation bill. Seems it comes out at about 79 million. Just for that one bill. How does the Gropenator expect to balance the budget(his promise if I recall it properly)with loans of this size...and the other money bills on this ballot?

Warning for Californians: Check the amount of postage if you are mailing your ballot in. Some counties have more iniatives than others...and will require more postage. US Postmaster in SF has said if some postage is on the ballot, the ballot will be delivered. If there is no postage, the ballot will come back. Lots of confusion on this at this time.

The Envelope to send the Ballot in states "No Postage Necessary if mailed in the United States". Mailing Ballots in should NOT be a problem. The Envelope says that it is First Class Business Reply Mail,(with a Permit number) Postage paid by Addressee which is the Director of Elections - City and County of San Francisco. No postage should be necessary for Absentee Ballots.

My sample ballot specifically states how much you need to put on it if it is not to be sent back. 63 cents I believe.

with all the projects he has to " rebuild the infrastructure of California"

He has borrowed money from education to the tune of nearly 3 million
dollars that he promised to repay and didn't when promised.

It took three years to get it back.

He wasted 70 million dollars on the 'special election" he wanted.
Even his wife, Maria Shriver, told him it was a bad idea.
He lost big time on this one, the voters here defeated every proposal soundly.

Phil's ads ask us " who can you trust?"
We can't trust Ahnuld, that's for sure.

Groper is building the same debt structure in CA...

that Bush is using in DC for the country as a whole.

Scoey...didnt hear about the business reply envelopes when the guys at KGO were discussing it. Some of the northern CA counties have exceptionally large ballots due to citizen initiatives.

AFTER HIS HISTORIC ELECTION in the 2003 recall, followed by some early promise and a disappointing sophomore year, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a solid, pragmatic governor who has steered a moderate course for California. He deserves a sequel.

Solid, pragmatic?
I don't think so.

Sometimes I don't recognize this "new" Los Angeles Times at all.

We have learned painfully that when an Elected Official lies about Campaigning promises, it can be very costly. Our Governor said" I will take no money from Special Interest Groups". He lied. He has received Money from the Oil Industry and the Communication's Industry. Lying to the very People You are representing has devastating effect's. It send a message to every level of Government and Business that the end's justify the means. Beware California of this Man. He is a Republican dressed in Democratic color's.

claim to be an environmentalist, he's not endorsing
or giving any support to Prop. 87, the alternative energy and clean

Bill Clinton and Al Gore have both appeared in 'Yes on 87' ads.

Maybe that's because the oil industry is opposing 87 and spending
millions on ads to do so.

Ahnuld is in cahoots with Big Oil?
It sure looks that way, doesn't it?

How is this guy ahead in the polls? Everyone seems to have a very short memory. Don't they remember the increase in college fees? Or the decrease in the education budget? How about ALL of his failed initiatives in the last election? The only thing I can figure is that those that favor Arnold think this is a popularity contest. Remember in high school how everyone preferred to vote for the captain of the football team as Class President rather than the math club kid? I think that's the problem here. Those behind Arnold would rather have a popular leader instead of a competent one.

Today I saw an ad for Phil Angelides
where he stated his goals for California.

Included in the goals were tax cuts for
the middle class. This is the first time I
can remember that being aired, during this campaign.

It's about time, Phil's team.
This ad should have been aired a month ago.

not aired often enough

I've yet to see it or much of anything up here for him. Repug ads are swamping the stations in N. CA. Mostly all we get is Eureka/Arcata stations or Medford OR.

They're really pulling out the stops on initiatives too. Even cutting into CSI to plug no on 86 and such. I'm a cynic and don't think that was an accident since it aired quite a few times in that one show alone. I was taping it for my son's girl friend and wanted to cut it out of the recording but I couldn't without loosing part of the show.

Something I don't understand is how they can make the claim (on 87-pro alternative fuel) that if you vote for 87, gas prices will go up. That's a red flag for a lot of people up here who won't see anything else but that. I thought the initiative makes it so that big oil cannot pass on the costs to the consumers??

I am so sick and tired of the lies the 'No on 87' camp is
putting on the airwaves.

Of course the threat of "higher gas prices" will scare the
wits out of any Californian who hasn't done his/her homework
on the propositions.

Legally, they can't pass the cost onto us, and all the
'Yes on 87' ads state this. But Nooo-- the lies continue.
Even Clinton and Gore ads don't shake people out of their fear
of rising gas prices.

It's a scare tactic that works- not too different from what Georgie
and his merry band of thugs are doing to our country.

Truth in advertising laws should apply to all ads,
including campaign ads. Why don't they?!?

I won't vote for Ahnald, but Angeledies..puhleeze! When are the Dems going to come up with a candidate that people can get behind? Phil's another old time good oleboy politician working for the machine. And those stupid attack ads on Arnold.not effective! How about rising above all that petty crap and lay out a plan of what you will do..not just link Arnold to Bush..won't work, and it's too late. Phil's going down.

Hey, thanks for your support.

What would you suggest we do one week from today?

Phil may not have been my first choice but he is
the candidate from our party, the Democrats.

Casting your vote for another candidate is your choice,
but remember, it will increase the chances for an Ahnuld
victory.

I want no part in that!

Remember your blog name.

I wish the campaign were better run to accent Angelides' plan to restore infrastructure and promote accountability in gov't, improve quality and access to higher education, provide healthcare and return jobs to CA. It is a comprehensive, doable and affordable one.
The mainstream media has blacked out most coverage! "Arnold" as celebrity has been unfortunately but effectively promoted, though inaccurately, as a bipartisan "action governor" even though his record clearly shows otherwise!
REMEMBER, no matter how responsive YOUR Assemblymember or State Senator is, the Governor signs the bills! WE NEED A DEMOCRAT TO GET THE WORK DONE and support a Democratic agenda.
Schwartzeneggar uses SIGNING STATEMENTS just like Bush does to cancel out effects of legislation (he did it to the recent famous environmental bill!)
VOTE for Phil PLEASE.

For Phil to win, he needed to hammer the flip-flop.

Instead of just SAYING you can't trust Arnonld, he needed to demostrate it:

"Which Arnold do you think will be the governor for the next 4 years?

"The Liberal Arnold who runs for election, promising to bring compromise and help real Californians?

"Or the Conservative Arnold who misran the government for 2 years, Stole $2 billion from education, ...."

Instead we had an uninspired, whimpy campaign that played right into Schwartzenegger's game. What a waste of our contributions.

Don't give Ahnuld this election.
Every vote for Phil is a step closer
to getting Ahnuld out.

We need to stick together and do this
as a united party of Democrats.

Matt, you're right, also. Ahnuld turns shades
of blue just before an election, then goes back
to flaming red once he's in.

Do we want four more years of that ?!?

GET OUT AND VOTE FOR PHIL!

That's where I'm going, now.
I'll check back later.

Thanks kwahlf.....for voting progressive!

It amazes me how soon we forget about Ahnuld's "girlie men" comment and his "special election" that cost Californians millions! He is such a politician. He is playing the "independent" who believes in working together across party lines to the "T". I think that many of us loyal Democrats think about his Kennedy wife and think she will keep him in line. Big mistake! Macho Man will start supporting the Republican Party line by the end of the month. You just wait and see. PLEASE VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRAT!

Hi Vihamilton! CA VOTERS- BRING A BROAD TIPPED PEN TO THE POLLS.

The paper ballot has huge boxes- I kid you not.

The squares that need to be completely blackened in are app. 1/4 by 1/2 inch big.
A Marks-a-Lot will do the trick. Otherwise, you will spend a great deal of time filling
in those boxes with a fine point pen. I sure did.

Happy Voting and Vote Democrat all the way!!

I have been working so hard for all the Democrats running for office in California. Over the weekend I handed out hundreds of "VOTE DEMOCRAT" door hangers in and around my precinct. All Democrats should be fully supporting Mr. Angelides. If you have done your homework, you know that he is for the things that Progressive Democrats across the nation are for. He will not raise taxes on the middle class and will support the clean money and needed environmental bills so important to me! PLEASE DON"T GIVE UP ON OUR DEMOCRATIC CHALLENGER FOR GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA! MR. ANGELIDES CAN STILL WIN!!!!! That is, if loyal Democrats turn out tomorrow to vote for him! Please don't let him down!

I sent an email recently to my representative, Devin Nunes, asking him to support censuring and impeaching Bush. I received a form letter which declared Bush is a "courageous and honorable leader." If you want to read all that the letter said about Bush go to www.truthtellingforum.com/theforum, where you will also be instructed to sign a petition telling Nunes you want Bush censured and impeached.
