Good Afternoon Democrats Of Florida!!!
This is your wake up call!
Democrats.com has given us this new tool for interstate communication, let's roll with it!
I am a 39 year old life long liberal democrat living in Delray Beach Florida.
After living 23 years here in South Florida, I really am surprised by the lack of "Connectivity" between Democrats here in South Florida, let alone the state.
I am looking to use this forum to bring us together for ideas on how we can better this amazing state of ours, ideas on how to cultivate young Democratic talent, ideas on how we can increase grass roots methods of supporting Democratic candidates as well as expressing thoughts & concerns about the issues of the day.
I would love to get groups of like minded dems together over coffee from time to time as well.
We have such an important task this November and to a greater extent, in 2008.
Lets all keep in touch, talk, chat, post here & get the corrupt right wing neo-cons out of power this November!

Coffee?
Hi Gregg...I won't be able to have coffee with you...I live in repub-hell....Pensacola. I feel like I am the only dem here!!! What are you hearing about the governor's race? All I get here is Crist commercials, not one Davis commercial yet. He and Jones came here for a breakfast rally, and there were about 250 people there. It was great!! What a wonderful team they make. I despise bush (all of them), and I despise what they have done to our children's schools. Davis actually wants to use the FCAT to help children...not punish them. What a concept. I just don't think they can beat the creeps. Thank God, I don't have any children in school anymore, and since there are no good jobs, my grandchildren aren't here, either. My son lives in Boynton Beach, and has a very good job with NASD,,,a company that investigates securities fraud. He got a good education before bush screwed it all up. My oldest daughter lives with her husband and son in Germany. He is in the German AirForce...she loves it there. It is very nice, and people still like Americans, if not the moron-in-chief. My youngest daughter lives in Virginia Beach, her hubby is a Lt. in the Navy..flies planes. So far he hasn't had to go to Iraq. Well...by point in all this is that I am angry that my children had to move away in order to have a productive life. Escambia County is one of the poorest in this state. Education is the most important step in breaking the poverty cycle. That is why these (insert your adjective here) have set out to dumb down the middle class. Raising tuition...cutting Pell Grants...testing, testing, testing,,,,,,

Hi...I tried to e-mail you but I guess it did not work. I have just purchased a Mac, and I am a luddite, so I have no idea what I am doing. I used to have a regular pc, and my kids set it all up, but I am on my own this time. So, I guess what I wrote you is flying around somewhere on the 'internets'!!!
Are you a volunteer on the Davis campaign? My daughter and I went to the Pensacola rally at Granny Cantrells. It was a good thing...lots of people. There will be a 'rally' at Dharma Blue tomorrow night at 5 pm. I am planning to be there, even though I hate to go places by myself.
I just hate the way I feel right now. I worked my butt off with the McBride campaign. I invested so many hours and so much sweat. When he 'lost', it broke my heart. I still believe that jeb stole that election somehow. There were so many teachers and parents wanting the best for their children then. The same is happening right now. charlie has NO children. He has no home. He pays no taxes, no insurance. How the hell does he know what we are going through? He has nothing to offer us. Nothing.
How can anyone in their right mind vote for a repub...anywhere, anyhow?

Sorry I didn't catch your post right away as I probably would have gone to the Dharma Blue event. I don't like to drive unless I have to at night since my night vision is not all that great but earlier events would be fine.

FCAT
Please get the word out about Davis and FCAT. I am a teacher and every other word out of my mouth is the "F" word. In addition to the FCAT we have 3 diagnostic tests to see how the kids will do on the FCAT. The time and money spent on this crap is rediculous. It's not fun for anyone when you try to cram a year's worth of work in by March 1. I have always been in an "A" school, the yearly "bonus" is not worth it. I know we have wonderful teachers throughout the state, sitting in lower ranking schools, that work much harder than me. They should be getting the bonus. I just happen to be sitting in a very wealthy school district, with lots of stay-at-home-moms. I have 3 parents a day wanting to volunteer.
All of this money is clearly going in the wrong direction!
I don't understand if every teacher and every parent voted, how Davis wouldn't win......even in Pensacola!

I'm a Kalifornian ( Ahnuld speak), but I can so relate to your story!
I'm a middle age substitute teacher, teaching English, ESL and Humanities
at the secondary level. I swear too, only not in the classroom. it's damn hard
not to at times.
Ah yes, the ongoing, never ending standardized testing that has doubled
since NCLB kicked in. Did you know that Special Education students have
been required to take many of the tests? I have watched students break down
and cry at their inability to take them. Why?!? Why are these kids being tortured?
For them, the inability to comprehend and take these tests rubs salt into their
psychological wounds that they are very" different", and it makes them feel
worthless. With the plummeting self-esteem, these kids don't want to try anything!!
I have spoken out against it soooo many times and cried myself in private.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm not only a teacher, but the mother of a son with learning disabilities.
You are so right about where the funding should be allocated. Good for you!

The big give-away is the fact that these kids do not get to see their tests to be able to know what they were weak on and be able to study those areas. Such a simple thing..yet unallowed. bush does not want them to do better, he wants to suck money out of the system, demoralize teachers and children, pay out of state companies to write and grade these tests, give tax-breaks to his buddies, and even pay his own brother for testing software. What a racket. The teachers here in Escambia county work so hard. So many of their children are very poor, and there is no parental support. Here in Pensacola were the first 2 voucher schools...many years ago. What a horror. Some good things came from it all, tho. The whole community rushed in to volunteer, and donate 'uniforms', and other very supportive things. Since then, one of the schools has closed. They were both in very poor neighborhoods. Since then, the voucher program has been found to be unconstitutional. I think FCAT should be found the same.

Charlie Crist is a crook, very close to Mark Foley and two other Congressmen who are now under suspicion with "PageGate"
We need to get the vote out in Florida on that Governor's race. Less than 23 days, please go to work and help the party whether it is phone banking, etc.
As a person volunteering for the DEMS, let me tell you, there will plenty of time for you to meet people after the election.

I was listening to one of the talking heads on cable news this AM telling their heart breaking story of how poor little old helpless Mark Foley was molested at age 13 or 15 and that is what caused him to become gay and a pedophile. Of course they didn't use the word pedophile.
After that weekend consultation with his attorney he decided that being gay was a lot safer than being declared a pedophile. There is no law against being gay (yet) but there are plenty of them about being a pedophile and old Foley knows that. He helped pass some of them!
Foley is going to name the priest who molested him and of course the Catholic Church was right there saying that they would see that the priest has counseling!! Hot damn! How maganamous of them!
What do you bet that the priest is now 85 or older and is senile??! I wonder how much he paid the Catholic Church to find him a priest?
As for Crist, my thoughts are that he is just another gay, hypocritical republican, maybe even Foley's lover.
I think gay people should have all the rights allowed under the former Constitution. I also think that people who are as hypocritial and two-faced as Foley should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the laws he helped pass. He is a pedophile. He is not gay.

He wouldn't have needed his supply line and the cover provided by republican leadership to keep his pants happy. If he is gay he would be involved in a committed relationship.
He needed his supply line because apparently he lost interest after his conquests got too old. The man's a pedophile and the cover republican leadership supplied helped him set up his very own pedophile clearing house, using our teenagers as prey.
He really is very disgusting but then so is Hastert.
