New Forum Nodes - ReminderAs a guideline to our many new members, and a reminder to our long-standing members, Democrats.com asks that you only post one "new" forum node per day (24-hour period). This policy gives all members the time needed to read, digest, and comment on new nodes. This policy is not strictly enforced, but when a member shows a tendency to post several new nodes daily, several times a week, their nodes will begin to be unpublished. If that is not enough of a "hint," then the member may be changed to a "comment only" status. New nodes which are just a "copy" of a news article, should be restricted to no more than four paragraphs of quoted material, with a link to the quoted source. If you want to include commentary with the quoted material, that is fine, but please try and keep it "readable" with the use of paragraph breaks, and brevity. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding... Note: Before it is brought up, this policy does NOT apply to our bloggers. They can post as often, and as long, as they like...;-)

misrepresentation of Obama's education on Fox News
The term "madrasa" is being heard a lot lately. In the US, it implies an Islamic religious school. In non-Arabic speaking Islamic countries such as Pakistan it would also have this implication. Please be aware, however, that it is a generic Arabic term for a school of any description. (It derives from the Arabic verb "adrus," which means "to study.") I point this out because we are likely to hear the word to describe the education of any Arab-American who immigrated after about five years of age.
Interesting
I didn't know that, James. That is very useful information, and something that I'm sure you'll never hear on Faux News. Thanks for sharing this with us.

More preventive measures needed to control TB infections, health officials say
A young woman, aged 18, presents to a physician with a cough that will not go away, malaise, and a fever. At the Sadar Hospital in Manikganj, Bangladesh, the patient also reports that she has lost a lot of weight, has no appetitite, and has coughed up a considerable amount of blood of late. The diagnosis – most likely tuberculosis, or TB. The prescription – a daily dose of isoniazid, also known as called INH, for nine months. “TB is a viral disease that poses serious health problems for Bangladesh,” said Dr. M. Jamaluddin, a surgeon, during a recent roundtable discussion, entitled, “Cooperation of MassMedia in Controlling TB.”

I'm trying to respond to the virtual march on Washington
but the website keeps bumping me back to the main page.
Is this sabotaged? Wouldn't put it past the power trippers.
Does anyone else have this happening?
I would Definately contact a
I would Definately contact a moderator on this. I know it's an older post and the issue has probably been resolved, but it's still good to let them know whats going on with their site, that way they can make modifications to keep it from happening in the future!
New here
I'm new here. Just want to know what anybody/everybody is thinking as our democracy descends lower in the garbage pile.
I'm an ex-60s activist and
I'm an ex-60s activist and am tired of just announcing my thoughts online. Has anyone thought about demonstrations.
Anyone home?
Look, just tell me to get lost if you need to. I'm sick and tired of unwillingness to discuss anything "difficult." We need to be active. We need to band together, instead of sitting pretty behind our screens at home and waiting for some else to think of something (and hoping that it doesn't involve our moving our lazy butts out of our easy chari to accomplish it).
Sh*t, this could be some compromised phishing site by now. News at 8 on O'Reillly. I don't know.
Great bunch you' ve got here.

My advice would be to take the time to read through the various forums and action blogs, and participate as you feel like it. You will find that most of us do much more than just "sit behind our screens."
This is not a "chat room" type of format, but a series of forums and blogs for Progressive Democrats to share thoughts, views, and activist news.

E-mail responses
Whenever I have gotten a response to a comment, my e-mail box get's 4-8 responses with links to the response. Is this a known issue?
Actually, it is not an
Actually, it is not an issue. If you have "Subscriptions" turned on, then every time someone posts a comment, or updates a comment, you will get an e-mail notification.
I understand the subscriptions thing...
...what I'm saying is I'm getting multiple copies (it seems like 4) of the same e-mail announcing a response. So, for example, if you respond to my thread once, I'm getting 4 responses saying "Someone has responded to your thread."
As I said, every time that
As I said, every time that "someone" goes back and edits their comment, you will get another e-mail. The e-mail response is triggered by the "post comment" event.
It could be due to editing
Everytime a post is edited by the poster it generates another notice. Therefore if someone wants to add, correct or change a post you could easily get multiple notices.
