I don't remember electing Joe Lieberman President, do you?
Lieberman and Ben Nelson made fools of every real Democrat in Congress when they used the mere threat of a filibuster to get Democrats to kill the Medicare Buy-In, the Public Option, and other crucial parts of healthcare reform.
Why are Democrats simply surrendering to mere threats when the vast majority of Americans support a Medicare Buy-In (64%-30%) or a Public Option (56%-38%)?
Democratic leaders have a another choice when they adopt their conference report: they can include the Medicare Buy-In, Public Option, and other progressive essentials and dare Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson to conduct a real filibuster.

Real filibusters are not ancient history. In July 2007, Democrats famously rolled out the cots to force Republicans to filibuster a vote on bringing our troops home from Iraq.
A real filibuster requires Senators to talk without interruption. Besides the unusual physical discomfort for a group of mostly rich elderly men, it would subject those Senators to the full scrutiny of the vast majority of Americans who want a Medicare Buy-In or a Public Option.
I don't think those Senators have the guts to look the American people in the eye and say: "I get top-quality government healthcare for free, but I'm not going to let you have it - even if you're willing to pay for it." Do you?
It's time for President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the real Democrats to call the Lieberman-Nelson bluff.

Please, Bob Fertik, retract your request to force the current health care bill to fail as is.
Where I think you should be going with this is a bit different. Get this not so perfect Bill pasted and then put pleasure in the coming months, after we deal with the Economy, to bring in an additional bill or amend this one. If nothing but health care gets done and the Economy is in the tank going into the summer next year – all bets are off and we will end up with ten years of republican rule again. Take what we can and then make it better like we did with Medicare. 30+ millions will benefit starting thirteen months from now.
Then make it touch on the house and senate to not remove Lieberman and Nelson from not only the Chairman rolls but to banish them to committees’ that do not benefit their special interest/financial backers. What is Lieberman doing chairing a committee that got him reelected last time? Then go out and raise money to defeat our adversaries Lieberman and Nelson.
If I were a Republican leader I would be signing your petition. Ask Papa Bush if I’m right! “It’s the Economy Stupid” all over again. Please recall your request! You do have clout and you are using it wrongly.
Please remember this is a reality we are dealing with unfortunately, just like politics.

will be decided by Nancy Pelosi alone. If the ante is raised enough, she'll come aboard with whatever Corporate America demands. Obama will stay with his owners, Corporatwe America's healthcare industry.
was the CLASS Act included?
Was the CLASS Act included in the Sen bill that passed Dec 24? CLASS Act is latest name for Community Choice Act and MiCASSA. It provides services and supports for people with disabilities to be delivered in the home of the disabled person's choosing not a nursing home because that is what Medicaid pays for after lobbying by nursing home owners to press the *not necessarily true* belief it's cheaper. Most pushed for by physical disability advocacy groups ADAPT and AAPD with help from United Cerebral Palsy-ARC Disability Policy Collaboration.
I heard recordings of both JLieberman and Ben Nelson opposing CLASS Act inclusion in the Senate bill.
If it was dropped was it dropped *permanently* or only to appease Lieberman and Nelson to get the bill into the conference committee stage and it may be added to the conference report?
