Lieberman Lies About Obama
Joe Lieberman only mentioned Barack Obama twice in his speech to the Republican convention and the world, and the second time he flat-out lied:
when Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for our troops on the ground
The Senate never held a vote to abandon our troops in Iraq without funds, because that would get them killed. Instead Russ Feingold and Harry Reid proposed carefully-written amendments to set deadlines for Bush to remove troops safely, with a funding cutoff for combat troops only after those troops were removed to enforced the deadlines that George Bush (and John McCain) adamantly opposed.
- "To provide for a transition of the Iraq mission" (5/16/07)
- "To safely redeploy United States troops from Iraq" (9/20/07)
- "To safely redeploy United States troops from Iraq." (10/3/07)
- 12/18/07
At a time when 2/3 of Americans wanted to bring our troops safely home, the Feingold-Reid amendments were the only serious attempts by the Senate to do so.
Will the Corporate Media call Lieberman out for being the liar that he is?
Update 1: Jane Hamsher reminds us that Lieberman also lied about lying about Obama:
In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” earlier this month, Mr. Lieberman indicated that he would attend the Republican Convention, but that he was not going there to “spend my time attacking Barack Obama.”

LIEberman has been lying
LIEberman has been lying about being a Democrat for years. He and Zell should form their own Party, and call it the Angry Has-Beens.
You left out the biggest lie of all
Joe called himself a Democrat up on that stage. I guess he thought it would give him cred.
Joe Lieberman lied about several things,
his party affiliation, Barack not supporting our our troops, and
McCain being one person and his "own man"!
Joe L., you must be kidding!
As recently as two weeks ago, he wanted YOU for VP pick, and the extreme RW faction
of his campaign group said, NO!- they picked Palin for McCain.
McCain hasn't been "his own man" for some time now.
Barack DOES support our troops and the many veterans
who spoke at our convention last week support this.
John Kerry covered this very well in his interview
last Sunday.
Yeah!
“Counterfeit Lieberman” if medals were given for lying he would have the Gold.
When he gets back to the Senate, the only "seat" he will have is in the outhouse!
Not only did he make an ass of himself, but also he did show us how "rotten" Washington has gotten!
Keep Kansas Red White and Blue
I saw a woman holding a sign up at the Repub convention that said "Keep Kansas Red". That's very disturbing to see someone actually thinks like that. For one thing, if she held a sign like that in the 50's she'd be questioned by McCarthy (joke).
Mostly it's very disturbing to see that's the mentality of the voters in November. They obviously aren't broadminded people in the Midwest if that is the way most of them think. I hope the Midwest can be counted on to vote for the right person. I guess Red is their color. They have no idea that some people have a different perception of it when they see a Red sign held up advocating keeping different people, political or otherwise, out of their State.
PatriotMom, remember the old Joseph McCarthy
mantra,
" Better Dead than Red" ?
Ah, how times have changed!
Palin distorts her face as she makes a point
Khwahlf, yes I remember that. Times have changed, but not for the absolute good.
I just watched Palin speak at the Repub Convention. I'm disturbed beyond belief. I can say as a fact, she reminds me of certain women, in executive positions in Silicon Valley, that feel they need to be the "b" word to do the job right. And I mean a real "b" word...cut-throat. There's a certain person I'm thinking of that has a real reputation all over the valley. People do not want to work at that company. I don't mean eBay. You wouldn't know that an executive in charge, with this reputation in Silicon Valley, surfs as a hobby.
Watching Palin speak, she distorts her face as she makes a point. It's scary to think of having a person like that in charge of the second highest office in the land. Perhaps the Secret Service should be very watchful of her in McCain's presence. She seems quite ambitious with her own agenda in mind. Some of the words she used in her speech seems almost "dagger-like" as I have seen in certain women executives in Silicon Valley. You won't see men behave like this too much. This is a woman thing.
This is not a sexist point of view. Women executives, like Carly Fiorina, have these types of reputations. Silicon Valley is one place where it plays out.
The people in her audience don't know what they are getting the country into when they vote for her. She mocked community organizers. That should say something by itself. She's all about PROFIT. That's all I heard during the last two days of this convention... PROFIT.
It's "Country First" for PROFIT. Not, "People First".
Republican Military Policy is about PROFIT, and NOT for the USA
NOT Defense.
NOT Economic empowerment of AMERICA.
BUT PROFIT for a very few while others do the fighting, laboring, and innovating.
CASE IN POINT: They still have not even begun a War on Terror. All hand waving and profiteering with these guys.
Hi Jim, the chanting of
"USA- USA" was just too much.
They've been screwing over the USA for eight years, now!
Grr!
To those of you who had the
To those of you who had the fortitude to watch this sideshow, my hat is off to you.
Please don't puke in it...;-)
Bill, I almost did.
LOL-
Seriously, I had to leave the room several times.
:-)
I tuned the tv on.
Then off.
I hear what you're saying, PatriotMom.
I too, just watched her speech.
She strikes me as very nasty, distorts the truth ad neusem,
and projects herself to be someone she is NOT!
I don't trust her.
Palin accepted money for the Bridge to Nowhere
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080831/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_bridge_to_nowhere
- and she can't FIGHT earmarking when she is
for it!

I was taken aback at her claim to " help families with disabled children"
and make the world " friendlier to them".
I don't believe her- she is a virtual unknown in the disabled community
that I have had close contact with for 21 years.
If anything, the Repubs have tried to roadblock measures and bills
that will help our kids.
And SHE has the nerve to question Biden's qualifications?
And Barack's integrity?
I'm too mad to make any sense right now!
Governor Palin, how in the HELL can you be a
" friend" to families with disabled children
when you cut the funding for Special Education in Alaska
by 62%?

What a Circus!
I'm with all of you about the puking thing. All evening I've been forcing myself to watch this just so I don't miss anything. I watched the audience. I can't believe how nuts they must be to believe in someone they barely know about and has this many family issues going on and has such aggressive postures... all rolled into one.
Between me and my husband, it's sometimes hard when one person in the family is Republican and the other a Democrat. The Republican doesn't want anything to do with his party anymore, but still wants to watch the Show, then gets real upset when he watches and makes himself stressed out over it. He says there should be an Evangelical Party just for them. They don't have to be in the Republican Party if they make a New Evangelical Party. :) Sarah didn't mention religion in her speech. BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT RELIGION for her; she just didn't say it tonight.
I've always wondered why Gore had Lieberman as his VP candidate. I 've never liked Lieberman. I'm sure Gore realizes he made a mistake by now!
Kwahlf, I'm glad you pointed out how she dropped the Special Ed budget by 62%. I had no idea about that. All she did was slam Obama in her speech. It all has to do with her judgement, not about being a mother, but about her lack/caring of judgement. She put her family in the spotlight. She gave her daughter no way out and made her stand on that stage tonight. How awful is that?
I just got my leg scratched by a Huckleberry Bush this weekend. Maybe that was an omen!
PatriotMom, I can answer one
PatriotMom, I can answer one question for you. Gore didn't really "pick" Lieberman as his running mate -- the DLC picked him.
Al From and the Democratic "Leadership" Council (DLC) were directly responsible for both Kerry's and Gore's losses to the neocons. Their Third Way New Democrat "centrist" stance also gave us the do-nothing Congress that we're sadled with at present. The self-appointed, and corporate-funded, DLC was responsible for the insidious "Super Tuesday" primary fiasco, and they openly oppose the only elected national representatives for the Democratic Party: Howard Dean and the DNC.
The DLC, and its parent organization, Will Marshall's Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) are the conduits which funnel corporate money to both the DSCC, and the DCCC. Joe Lieberman, Will Marshall, and John McCain were all supporters of the infamous neoconservative PNAC plan that was the roadmap for the illegal invasion of Iraq.

Thanks, Bill, I'll read those links.
Sara Palin seems to have a problem with community organizers.
Care to elaborate, Ms. Palin?
Thank You Kwahlf
Perfectly put.
You're welcome Jim.
She made a big mistake with that quip.
Sorry it took so long for me to post this.
