Kucinich Puts Impeachment On The Table
At long last, impeachment is on the table in Washington DC. And at long last, he pro-impeachment majority has a spokesman - Dennis Kucinich.
Here are Kucinich's historic Articles of Impeachment for Dick Cheney:
1. Fabricated a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction
2. Purposely manipulated the intelligence process
3. Openly threatened aggression against Iran
These are serious, carefully-written Articles and they are thoroughly documented.
It took a huge amount of guts for Kucinich to defy Speaker Pelosi and introduce Articles of Impeachment for Dick Cheney. Kucinich must not only deal with her wrath, but also the collective smirks of the entire corrupt punditocracy.
Why the smirks? First, the pundits all assume this is a presidential campaign stunt. But the truth is Kucinich won't even let his campaign staff discuss impeachment. For Kucinich, this is serious Capitol Hill business, not a campaign stunt.
Second, the pundits think Kucinich is a joke, because he doesn't buy into the "Washington consensus" of greed, corruption, and imperialism. Kucinich takes politics seriously and is genuinely committed to Truth, Justice, and the American Way. He's Jimmy Stewart for the 21st Century - with a vision for saving humanity from war, genocide, and environmental catastrophe.
In other words, he puts the smug know-it-all punditocracy to shame. And they despise him for it.
But the pundits are going to have to suppress their smirks, because these Articles are serious business. And with a majority of Americans already supporting impeachment, it's only a matter of time before Cheney will have to face justice for his historic crimes.
Update 1: It doesn't look like Harry Reid will be rushing to Cheney's defense. Here's how Reid spokesman Jim Manley responded to today's daily attack by Cheney:
Vice President Cheney should be the last person to lecture anyone on how leaders should make decisions.
Leaders should make decisions based on facts and reality, two words that seem to be foreign to the Vice President
This is the same guy who said Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and that we would be greeted as liberators. And it's the same guy who continues to assert that Saddam Hussein had links to al Qaeda long after our own intelligence agency conclusively refuted this notion. To suggest he lacks credibility would be an understatement.
The Vice President's and others' attacks on those who disagree with their failed policies are signs of desperation. They are lashing out because they know the days are numbered for their failed strategy and that the American people and a bipartisan majority are determined to force this Administration to change course in Iraq.

Dennis is the one candidate who is acting Presidential
Kucinich is making the tough decisions and doing what a leader has to do. Cheney is a criminal and deserves to be removed and imprisoned. This was once a country of laws. It's time those laws were enforced.
Dennis has taken on the Bush Misministration and has stood up to Bush's patsy Pelosi. It's great that we have one candidate with courage running for President. Dennis has my vote and the vote of everyone who genuinely opposes the Bush Administration.
If you are in California this weekend, go to the California Democratic Convention (San Diego Convention Center) on Saturday to thank Kucinich and demand Pelosi follow Dennis's lead. There will be an impeachment rally following Dennis's speech at the convention.
Urge Your Representatives to Support the Impeachment
Finally, the process has begun, now we must all urge our representatives to move this process forward and make Cheney face the payment for his illegal acts as Vice President and the chief manipulator or intelligence data used as the basis for the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and to stop any thought on this administration's part of doing the same illegal acts to expand the war to Iran.

I was only responding....
....to why I thought David Peter's post was removed and that had to deal with the phrase, "corporate candidates". I believe the moderators here take seriously the mandate that we shouldn't speak ill of other Democrats. I was using humor when I mentioned the Commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Speak Badly About Another Democrat". That would be a good rule to follow I think, and just focus on the issues.
My position has been to focus on why I want to vote for Dennis Kucinich, not to slam other candidates(although I was guilty of that in 2004--I've gotten better at avoiding that) or those who support them.
I've been coming to Democrats.com for a while, before I registered and posted anything here. I don't have that many posts here, but I think they've been very positive. If you can find a negative comment about another candidate or an individual here or anywhere else, then I'm sorry if I offended and I will either delete or edit that post.
In regards to that instant runoff voting poll. I voted once and that was it. I've never made any accusations that the poll was rigged for a certain candidate, nor have I thought it was rigged. I would think that most supporters of other candidates find polls such as this one and tell other supporters to come here or to another site and vote in a poll in support of their candidate. Is that wrong? I think we all hope to see our candidate at the top of such a poll and hope that others will take a second look at that candidate. That's why most of us vote in those polls, to gain publicity for our candidate. We know that the candidate won't win the White House if he/she wins the Democrats.com or other site poll, but we know that when people come here or to another site, the fact that a certain candidate is at the top of the poll will lead others to believe that maybe this candidate is the best one after all. The thinking being, "If all of those people voted for that candidate, then he/she can't be all that bad...I'll have to take a look at his/her positions."
I think K is a good man
But I don't think he'll ever be president, and I'll tell you why. He draws a certain segment of the hard left that are, to put it nicely, koo koo birds. They're uncouth; they're obnoxious; they're outrageous; they wouldn't recognize an apology if it bit them squarely in the asses; if it ain't their kinda pure, it ain't pure enough; if they can't have K they'll go Green/Independent no matter who/how many of us pay the price for their Purity March; they're pushy; and they're radical. It's this crowd that causes K to lose creds. It's also this crowd that causes sensible K supporters to get snarled at sometimes.
Kucinich has shown his strength
He is one Brave man - He stood up for We The People. He is the only one I have seen so far that isn't full of gas. I truly respect him and thank him.
I can finally say who I would like to be our next President of the United States, and that is Dennis Kucinich. He has shown his bravery and would make a great leader of this country.
We need more people like him in the congress.
Kucinich doesn't have ENOUGH of what it takes
Dennis Kucinich has a small following. He DID have enough guts to file the impeachment papers ONLY after people must have objected when he said he would put it all on hold. He said outright he would put it on hold when he found out Cheney had to see a doctor. That was not a good indication of how he would act if he was president. We need a person who will do the right thing when it is needed without letting emotions control the situation. He is not a man destined for president in my book.

Forgive the suspicious minds that are also the reason we
leave no stone unturned when it comes to our high offices of government and who represents our voice in Congress. This whole stupid greedy,self centered, arrogant incompetent Administration, is enough to make you doubt your own mother to hear them talk. I say don't believe the hype, you can tell when a person means business. Cheney means to keep playing on the people's shock and awe word groups, and the People mean to Impeach his greedy lying arse. Too much fundage has gone into this debaucle without accountability, and I have no doubt that as soon as the light is shed on "Darth Cheney's" involvement in it, that the rest of the 28% of the majority will get on board for justice also. Kucinich is good and brave. So is my Candidate Obama. He is speaking truth to power and his personal one on one approach when shaking hands and answering people is great too. We can only pick one for pres though so, you know. Once all this is over the cabinet selection and US Attorney's are in place, we will begin America's recovery from this long hangover of Bushenstein, and find even more wool, that the RebumbleKlans won't believe, had been pulled over their eyes.
I for one can't wait for the new millenium to begin with firm truth and peace.

Impeachment
If there was ever a time to impeach, in this case the entire administration, it is NOW. If we are not going to use it, why have it? What would the founding fathers think if they saw this? This sooo corrupt mess, the American people not out in the streets and this hesitation to begin impeachment proceedings over the most/multi criminal behaviors we have witnessed and in history.
OK, I guess that Kucinich's papers are filed...ho hum...
No one seems to be paying any attention to whatever it is that he has done. Maybe it is too early to expect some sort of reaction to his actions.
I feel that what Dennis has done is just pull what teeth our party still has. Even the worst of the reich-wing is staying away from the topic.
As I recall, there was much furor across the net, the media, and other sources when Cynthia McKinney filed her impeachment papers before leaving the house. She soft-pedaled nothing, just let it all hang out there for the world to see and adjust to.
Dennis is probably a nice guy. But he is not the forceful heroic character that we want and need at this point in time. He comes out of Cleveland--"That mistake on the lake" as it is known in the upper midwest.
Now that he has shot all his ammunition, what happens now? Will Pelosi change her mind about impeachment? Since the Constitution Mandates impeachment for High Crimes and Misdemeanors, what choice does Nancy have?
We appear to continue spinning our wheels, where are the threats to the fascist grip on our Republic? There are none. Even after we put a majority of the lawbreakers in prison, that still leaves Bush/Cheney free to retire and enjoy life on our dollars. Only impeachment would keep this gang of bandits out of public office for the remainder of their lifetimes. We all know that they deserve the finest cells at Leavenworth for life.

Additionally, do not take the withdrawal language out of the military supplemental bill. Let the President veto bills with this language as many times as he wants.

would make a nice vice president, but he wont get the popularity for president. How about Edwards/Kucinich? Id even go for Obama/Kucinich. Clinton/Kucinich doesnt have the same ring but id be funny for the repubs to have to face her wraith. Anyways my point is support Kucinich in his noble quest!!!
