Impeachment is the only way we can end the war in Iraq in a timely manner and prevent another war of choice against Iran. This administration is absolutely the worst in history. Their lies and misuse of power are threatening our Constitutional rights with the so-called "Patriot" Act, torture, denial of habeus corpus to illegally detained "enemy combatants", and who knows what else.
If this President and his neo-con cronies insist on the "Surge", then it's time that the REAL patriots of this country insist on the "Purge".
The tragedy that is Iraq is a direct result of the President's deceitful and immoral abuse of power and position of trust as the chief executive. While many blame congress for enacting war powers for this saboteur of our armed forces, the office of the presidency had never been so cynically perverted to war propagandist. It has recently become evident that the president had personal political motivation for securing Iraqi oil by conducting this Security Masquerade. All intelligence services unanimously report having advised the president of the disconnect between Iraq and 9/11 yet the president lied to the American people and to Congress regarding the justifications for war in Iraq. Though our representatives in Congress might have been more critical in their investigations of the intelligence briefings, it was rational to trust the president as the nation was still in shock from 9/11 and no reasonable person could have expected such a cynical and nefarious plot to use it as an excuse to invade Iraq.
Other issues such as his negligence in the Dubai Ports World take over of American ports, and the selective dismissal of U.S. Attorneys that would not act as henchmen for republican political ends, were meant to consolidate power in what Mr. Gonzalez referred to, glowingly as, The Unitary Executive. Of course there are many other undisputed facts pointing to malfeasance and misfeasance of the highest order originating from the oval office. My comments here are not to inform you of such crimes, as you must already be aware, but to demonstrate the outrage of an American citizen that for the first time is no longer proud to be one.
I wish to show you that many Americans who are not journalists or political professionals are aware of the jeopardy in which our democracy finds itself. More than the readiness of our armed forces is at stake in this ridiculous escalation of a plan that has already failed disastrously.
Our global stature and our ability to influence other nations in preventing, for instance, genocide in Dar fur, human rights violations in Asia, and destruction of the planet everywhere have been diminished beyond recognition, because of our misadventures in Iraq.
The democratic takeover of Congress in November clearly represented a nation dissatisfied with the status quo. In no uncertain terms the American people showed their dissatisfaction with the Republicans in general and The President and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld in particular. The President acknowledged this message, but instead of presenting a new direction as the American people demanded, he did the opposite and escalated troop levels.
Perhaps the president has justification for defying common sense and decency in prosecution of this war, but there is no evidence to support such a premise. This president, who lied to Congress to trick them into armed robbery at the tip of the American spear, now pretends that we are idiotic enough to trust his unsupported actions once again.

Dr. Carl F. Selnes MSgt Ret. Impeachment is long, long overdue. The Constitution, Geneva Conventions, and International Law have been violated. This constitutes "High crimes and misdemeanors".
It is NOT a war "on terror"..how do you declare war on a emotion? That is beyond stupid. It IS for Corporate greed and control. The only terrorists we have to fear are illegally sitting in the White House..the puppet and the sadist, Bush and Cheney and all who do their bidding with their tunnel vision. Not one of them cares the slightest bit about the loss of American lives or Iraq lives or any lives. They are all expendable in their eyes in their pursuit of control, assets and who really knows what all...just collateral damage (aka road kill).IMPEACHMENT IMPEACHMENT IMPEACHMENT NOW. Our precious people and innocents everywhere are dying each minute you delay doing what is just and right. Remove these despicable people from office IMMEDIATELY. Collectively they are not worth one human life lost. Impeachment and then trials for treason. What message do you of our elected think was given last Nov.?? IT WAS FOR IMPEACHMENT TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY. What part of that do you not understand? End the corruption. Do your job the way it was intended to be done.
This ongoing monarchist power grab of the BushCheny cabal is exactly what the Founders feared when they put provisions for impeachment into the Constitution. We must not betray their vision.
Interestingly, with BushCheney procedurally consigned to the shit can of history, Pelosi becomes President for the duration of the term, through the election of 08. Now wouldn't that be an amusing by-product of the wheels of justice turning, (not to mention a surprise end-run on Hillary)?
Thank you for taking the action that our laws outline as the steps that should be taken for this type of matter. Anything less would be negligence on your part, as a member of congress. I know it is a big responsibility, but you should have realized that when you took the job.

The Constitution obligates Congress to impeach the President & Vice President for treason. No Congress person can claim his oath to uphold and protect the Constitution unless impeachment of Bush & Cheney commences now. It is a counterproductive farce to write bills to end the Iraq war with Bush & Cheney in office.

I rarely speak out when a discussion of *Articles of Empeachment* affects all people. Such a movement shouldn't be seen as an easy way to express that something isn't going the way it should. My first and formost concern is for emotional strength and inner self security. Any time one proclaims that they should no longer continue in a job, I have to ask myself why is he/she not representing the leadership that the United States so greatly needs? Too often we the people, tend to see an issue from our own perspective rather than from the collective society. Too many times, I watched it as a confused little child struggling to find some meaning in life. It's so easy for us American's to just say, "If you don't do the work we voted you to do, we'll ask you to MoveOn". To many, I'm a youngster at 59. But I've spent a lot of time and energy as a voter precinct inspector. For me, "Get Out The Vote" is a powerful statement which reminds us of our responsibilities to ourselves and how we see the pride and respect of America. When John F. Kennedy said, "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You..." I say that America has done more good than I can ever imagine.

First of all, the word is "Impeachment."
If I am reading your post correctly, you are saying that even though we have illegally invaded Iraq and decimated their country, killed hundreds of thousands of their citizens, and brought about a civil war -- we have "done more good than you can imagine?"
You actully believe that a trumped up "war on terror" without a defined enemy is a good enough excuse to curtail the civil rights of all Americans through a travesty such as the Patriot Act? That is the same thinking that brought about the Japanese concentration camps of WWII.
You are correct in one respect however: America has done a lot of good around the world in the past. That is, up until we allowed the neoconservative corporate/military machine to take over our government. In just six short years, the criminal Rove/Cheney/Dubya cabal has reversed America's role as a world leader, to that of a bully and a disrupter of world-wide stability.
It is past time that we patriotic Americans take our country back, and impeach the entire lot of neoconservatives who bought their way to power using corporate blood-money. It is past time that we restore both the meaning and the intent of the Constitution of the United States of America.

as it pertained to Dennis was this: He spent 6 weeks here. Did all the stumping and stamping that anyone could do. He attracted a frantic collection of Greens, but few Dems. Oregon is a blue state although the margin gets smaller all the time. Oregon ended up with Kerry as our choice. Now, if Dennis is to win, he will have to spend at least 6 weeks in each state. The math alone is ridiculous at best. Considering that 6 x 50 is 300 weeks, Dennis is already far behind. He could of course, run as a Green, but then he would just be the sort of spoiler that the Greens have been since election 2000. Were he to win nomination as a Green, then it is entirely possible that his election would affect the outcome of the '08 race. The wonderful $344,000 he has already collected is just about enough for a couple of tv and a few radio spots--essentially local and not national where the prices are extremely high by the second. Dennis was pretty well checked out several elections back here on the site. A Freeper troll came in with the Repugnant talking points which emphasized his problems in Cleveland. We quickly determined that the talking points were the reverse of what was true. Dennis looked pretty good at the time overall. He talks the talk that many want to hear, but so far in his well-established seat in the House, he has failed to get much done in the bills he has proposed. If you go back and look at the videos of the speeches he gave at Case-Western University(his alma mater), you find that his speech techniques essentially throw out everything he learned in his communications major. Instead of planting himself at the podium, he walked bach and forth on the stage like a caged lion. This was distracting to say the least. You can really like Dennis, but he hasn't a chance to be more than a spoiler. Again, the Dems have allowed the MSM to choose the viable candidates just the way they focused on Kerry after the circus in Iowa. No matter how much support Dennis gets from his followers, there is almost no chance at all that he can survive the primary. The votes for him are just not there. Bottom line is: Any Dem is likely to be better than Bush and I think we will all have to settle for that. All the polls that have been done to date(I hate polls), show that Dennis is not even a blip on the political horizon--about the same situation he found himself in the last time.
