John McCain

Anger is in the McCain Family DNA

It looks like anger issues are part of the McCain family DNA:

McCain Concedes - Will He Blame Bush?

Omigod - John McCain just conceded:

John McCain's election night watch party might be missing John McCain. Instead of appearing before a throng of supporters at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix on the evening of Nov. 4, the Republican presidential nominee plans to deliver postelection remarks to a small group of reporters and guests on the hotel's lawn.

Kos points out what's incredibly wrong with McCain's decision:

McCain knows he's going down, we get that. But there are supporters of his that are still busting their ass, and he's basically telling them that he doesn't give a flying fuck. It's a breathtaking insult to his staff, to his volunteers, to his party, and even to America. It doesn't matter if the bulk of his audience will be watching him on the television, he owes his people (and even the nation), one last rally.

So why doesn't McCain want to give them "one last rally"?

McCain Supports Impeachment of Bush and Cheney

In an interview with the rightwing Washington Times, John McCain channeled Democrats.com:

On Wednesday, Mr. McCain went further in distancing himself from the man who beat him for the 2000 Republican presidential nomination...

He rejected Mr. Bush's use of issuing "signing statements" when he signs bills into law, in which the president has suggested that he would ignore elements of the bills, labeling them potentially unconstitutional.

"I would veto the bills or say, 'Look, I don't like it but I'll obey the law that's passed by Congress and signed by the president.' I think the signing statements was not a correct implementation of the power of the executive. I think it was overstepping," he said.

Obama Pulls Away

McCain's final campaign gambit - Joe the Plumber - has officially failed, just like every previous attack. Colin Powell's endorsement was a fatal blow to McCain's comeback hopes, and Sarah Palin's $150,000 wardrobe put the nail in the coffin.

Obama now leads by 7.6% nationally, and his lead is getting bigger. This will translate to an Electoral College landslide - barring a terrorist attack by William Ayres himself. Still, it is essential for Democrats to make sure the landslide is so huge that ACORN's non-existent fraud can't be blamed for stealing a "close" race.

So make as many calls as you can for Obama through barackobama.com or moveon.org. And make sure everyone votes early (where permitted) to avoid GOP-engineered chaos on Election Day. With a little bit of luck, we can put the Republican Party out of business on November 4.

Bush Betrays McCain on Iraq

When Wolf Blitzer asked John McCain today if McCain supported Bush's proposed deal to remove U.S. troops from Iraq in 3 years, McCain sneered at Blitzer and repeated "it's conditions-based."

McCain's point was the 3-year deadline is a mirage - that Bush carefully preserved the next President's right to keep troops in Iraq beyond 2011 simply by claiming "conditions" weren't ready for U.S. troops to leave. McCain, of course, wants to keep our troops in Iraq for 100 1000 10,000 1,000,000 years.

Apparently McCain is completely unaware that Bush sold him out in the latest version of the agreement, according to Gareth Porter:

Al Qaeda Endorses McCain

From the U.K. Telegraph:

In an endorsement that will not be welcomed by Mr McCain's flagging campaign, the group said that if al-Qaeda wants to exhaust the US militarily and economically, the "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate is the better choice.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said.

"Then, al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

McCain Concedes Colorado, Iowa, and New Mexico

http://www.electoral-vote.com

CNN is reporting that McCain is making those tough decisions that politicians love to talk about. According to CNN, McCain is abandoning Colorado (9 EVs), Iowa (7 EVs) and New Mexico (5 Evs). If Obama wins these three he gets 21 EVs. Add these to the 252 EVs Kerry won and he has 273 and becomes President. McCain's strategy at this point is to win Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Missouri, Nevada, and--get this--Pennsylvania.

Et Tu, Colin?

Let's be real: John McCain's campaign was badly wounded before Colin Powell passionately endorsed Barack Obama on Meet The Press. And those wounds were entirely self-inflicted: his unrelenting nastiness, his absurd choice of Sarah Palin, their outright lies, their vicious supporters. All in all, Obama barely laid a finger on him.

The Urban Journal Takes on McCain-Hugging Black Radio Host

While supporters of McCain and Palin generally appear to be a lily white mob of vicious imbeciles who shout things like Sit Down Boy! and Keep the White House white!, one black man, a radio host from Milwaukee whom I had never heard of before, James T. Harris, was given the microphone at a John McCain event and proceeded to lay the biggest wettest kiss possible on McCain's flabby white butt, after which McCain struggled to produce a coherent response.

Tonight on The Urban Journal, a serious and progressive black radio host from Milwaukee, Keith Murphy, brings on Harris as a guest. The show airs at 8 p.m. ET tonight on XM Ch 169, and is available right now at http://theurbanjournal.org . There you'll find four little links to segments of audio from this evening's upcoming show.
