John Dean Wants Prosecution Not Commission

For the past 7 years, John Dean has thoroughly documented Bush's crimes but has avoided any demands for accountability, including impeachment. But Dick Cheney's torture confession has pushed him to call for prosecution rather than a fact-finding commission for two reasons (see below).

First, a slow-moving commission would extend beyond the expiration of the statute of limitations, which Dean says is 8 years. (Liz Holtzman insists there is no statute of limitations for war crimes.)

Second, a commission that explicitly refused to "point fingers" - as the 9/11 Commission did - would "reflect terribly" on the United States of America. (It would also violate our obligations under the Geneva Conventions, but Dean doesn't make that point.)
