Ask the Iraqi Government to End Our Occupation of Their Country

1231 of 100000 people have signed this petition.

We've asked Congress to end the occupation of Iraq and seen no progress. Iraq's Parliament, on the other hand, is taking steps to legally require that the occupation end. A note from you, as an American, to the Iraqi Embassy in Washington, D.C., and to the Iraqi Parliament in Baghdad might help move the Iraqi government where Congress dares not go.

As a resident of the United States, I am contacting you in a spirit of friendship and sorrow. I apologize for the behavior of my government and its insistence on occupying your nation. I would like to urge your government to do what the majority of the American people and the majority of the Iraqi people want done, but what the U.S. government is unwilling to do: end the occupation. If you will take this step and send our military men and women home to their families, I will commit to doing everything I can to assist in the reconstruction of Iraq by Iraqis once the occupation is over.

Our occupation of Iraq

Although there are still Bush sympathizers in this country, I hope your people understand that Bush's war is not our war - the war of the American people. Of course we must accept a great deal of the responsibility for electing Bush in the first place and allowing this war to happen. If current sentiment had existed then, the tragedy would have been averted. Americans are getting wiser by the day in turning from Bush. Too bad powerful propaganda machines in our media have poisoned our country into a blindness so deep that only now are many beginning to crawl out from under it. Nevertheless, without skirting responsibility, I believe I can still declare: Bush's war is Bush's war. And by the way, Iraqi oil belongs to Iraq! Don't let Bush and his corporate cronies steal it! That is, after all, why he is there.

You need to tell that to Rudy

You need to tell that to Rudy, Stephen. The other night at the republican debate he told America that "this war is the American peoples war" and that presidents don't make war only countries make war. I am not sure just what point he is making, other than being so sure that he will be the next president, who will inherit this war, he needs to get the country behind him long in advance to continuing this war.

At least half of this country seems to know that it is Bush's war and we need to keep saying it loud and clear. He lied us into supporting his war for oil and revenge (not us but many) and I don't think America can forgive Bush or those who assisted him after we all knew for sure that the "proof" was fabricated by bush operatives. No more accepting the "unpatriotic" label to keep us quiet. I would expect that there will be 2 or 3 more scare "alerts" tactics before the november election, especially if Rudy gets the nod. If it turns out to be Fred Thompson I am not sure how he will play it, but all that the GOP has going for them is terrorism, so how can they not play the terror card, even if it means helping a little terrorism along?
