Book discussion: No End in Sight: Iraq's Descent into Chaos, featuring Charles Ferguson

Called "a clear, temperate, and devastating account of high-level arrogance and incompetence" by The New York Times, No End in Sight is the first book to chronicle the reasons behind Iraq's descent into guerilla war, warlord rule, criminality, and anarchy. Based on Charles Ferguson's Academy Award nominated documentary film.

This event is part of the Center for American Progress Series, The Impact of Five Years in Iraq

Iraq Veterans Against the War Brings Winter Soldier to DC: U.S. veterans who served in those occupations will testify, giving an accurate account of what is really happening day in and day out, on the ground.

This four-day event will bring together veterans from across the country to testify about their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan - and present video and photographic evidence.

There will also be panels of scholars, veterans, journalists, and other specialists to give context to the testimony.

These panels will cover everything from the history of the GI resistance movement to the fight for veterans' health benefits and support.

YOU can participate by watching live, or later, and by inviting many others to join you.

5 Years of Occupation: U.S. Policy in the Middle East

As we approach the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, conflicts grow across the Middle East. Despite the "troop surge", sectarian violence and anti-occupation resistance in Iraq show no signs of ending. Israel steps up its siege of Gaza with a series of bloody raids. U.S. outrages in Afghanistan coincide with a resurgence of the Taliban. Talk of civil war in Lebanon grows louder, as does Bush administration bluster against Iran. How do these events fit together? What is needed to stem the tide of violence?

Aggies and local residents will join to demonstrate on the 5-year anniversary of the Iraq War. Students will gather at 5 p.m. on March 19th outside the Academic Building (near the Century Tree) and march out to the corner of Texas Avenue and University Drive at 5:15. Everyone else can meet on the corner.

The Greater Newburyport (MA) Coalition for Peace and Justice is sponsoring a Peace Vigil and March for the 5th Anniversary of the War.

It is being held on Sunday, March 16 from 12:00-1:30 from Market Square, Newburyport, MA.

We have also continued a Peace Vigil every Sunday afternoon from 12:00-1:00 since the beginning of the Iraq War.
