CA, SF: Rally at the SF Canadian Consulate for Kimberly Rivera, Mother of 3, Wife, and Soldier of Conscience

Rally at the SF Canadian Consulate July 8th for Kimberly Rivera, Mother of 3, Wife, and Soldier of Conscience | Courage to Resist

Join Courage to Resist at a rally outside of the Canadian Consulate in San Francisco. Kimberly Rivera, mother of three, wife, and soldier of conscience is now living in Canada, but that could all change on July 8th.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from noon to 1:30pm, SF Canadian Consulate, 580 California Street, San Francisco

We will bring signed petitions to the Consulate General, urging the Canadian politicians to respect the will of the Canadian people, the Canadian parliament--whom have twice voted recommendations to allow war resisters to stay--and the basic moral imperative that does not separate children from their loving mother.

D.C. Area Residents Opposed to Af-Pak War Hold Sunday Rally | Press Release

On the heels of a Congressional vote for more war funds, passed at the behest of the White House, local peace and justice activists will hold a Sunday afternoon rally calling for an end to continual war and occupation of Afghanistan, and drone bombings of Pakistan.

Following a House of Representatives vote Thursday approving $96.7 billion in additional war funding, local activists organized an anti-war rally to be held Sunday, 1:30 PM in Lafayette Park. Among the speakers are Ray McGovern, a former senior CIA analyst; Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink Women for Peace and Global Exchange; and Erik Leaver a senior policy analyst with the Institute for Policy studies.

Protest Tony Blair in Santa Barbara

Official start time is 8pm Monday, April 20th in the Arlington Theatre, 1317 State Street, downtown Santa Barbara.

Admission
tickets are $23-$103 to go into the theatre, however there is plenty of
sidewalk around the theatre entrances for Free Speech Protesting.

Blair
deserves to be called to task for his lap-dog duty to Bush+Cheney, even
as the Downing Street Memo shows his administration knew they were
lying about the reasons for attacking Iraq.

We
should be at the Arlington Theatre there early, say 7pm, to demand that
Tony Blair testify for the Prosecution against Bush+Cheney.

CA, Orange: Protest Colin Powell at Chapman University

Torturer's School to Thank Man Who Helped Lie Us into War and Helped Micromanage Torture

Colin Powell to be honored at Chapman University in Orange County, Calif., Saturday, March 28th

Reception and keynote is at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m.

Powell will be the keynote speaker at the dedication reception of the Global Citizens Gala of the opening of the Global Citizens Plaza.

Tickets start at $1,500 if you want to attend this "cocktail attire" event.

We need to be there in full force. We will begin assembling at 4:45 p.m. at the Circle. At 5:15 p.m. we will begin our march to the Chapman University entrance on Glassell Street. This will give us at least 30 minutes to "greet the guests." Bring your signs, make some up.

Remember what Powell did to launch the Iraq war, and that he was one of the principles approving of torture under the "legal" cover provided by Yoo and others.

OK, Oklahoma City: Iraq War 6th Year Memorials Planned in Oklahoma City

Iraq War 6th Year Memorials Planned in Oklahoma City

The March 19, six-year anniversary of the start of the U.S. war in Iraq will be commemorated in Oklahoma City with memorial events, public vigils, and a silent memorial walk, according to planners. Peace House Director Nathaniel Batchelder said that the tone of events planned this year is more to seek higher wisdom to make the world less violent and more humane, and less to tell Washington, D.C., what to do.

In a statement sent to The City Sentinel, Batchelder said, “We are hopeful that a new administration and Congress can resolve the Middle East conflicts with more diplomacy and less violence.”
