Impeachment Step 2
After more than three years of grassroots pressure from true patriots like you, Congress finally took step 1 towards impeaching George W. Bush for his High Crimes by holding a "non-impeachment hearing" last Friday.
Witnesses led by Dennis Kucinich, Elliot Adams, Rocky Anderson, Bob Barr, Vincent Bugliosi, Bruce Fein, Maurice Hinchey, and Elizabeth Holtzman presented an overwhelming case for impeachment. Watch the individual videos and the wrap-up by American News Project.
Tell your Representatives to co-sponsor Rep. Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment:

Most of the Democrats who attended the hearings were excellent. If one of these is your Representative, or if you contributed to their campaigns, please call 202-224-3121 to thank them for supporting impeachment: Dennis Kucinich, Robert Wexler, Tammy Baldwin, Keith Ellison, Maurice Hinchey, Sheila Jackson-Lee, and Hank Johnson.
Chairman John Conyers insisted it was not an "impeachment hearing." But he also said, "I believe the evidence on these matters is both credible and substantial and warrant the response of the executive branch, under oath if at all possible... Let me add, we are not done yet, and we do not intend to go away until we achieve the accountability that Congress is entitled to and the American people deserve."
And by the end of the hearing, even the see-no-evil Republican witnesses admitted Congress should consider impeachment. So what stands in the way real impeachment hearings?
1. 228 Democrats (and 199 Republicans) who have not co-sponsored Articles of Impeachment against George Bush. Tell your Representatives to co-sponsor Rep. Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment:

2. Key Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who do not support impeachment.
a. Impeachment Hamlets: Bobby Scott, Zoe Lofgren, and Jerry Nadler believe Bush committed impeachable offfenses, but they are terrified to support impeachment. Call them to find out why they can't make up their minds:

b. AWOL Democrats: These members showed their contempt for the Constitution (and their constituents) by not even attending the July 25 hearing: Howard Berman, Rick Boucher, Artur Davis, Bill Delahunt, Luis Gutierrez, Linda Sanchez, Betty Sutton, Maxine Waters, Anthony Weiner. Call them to find out why they failed to do their jobs - and when they will support impeachment:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_AWOL
c. Impeachment opponents: Adam Schiff, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Mel Watt believe none of Bush's High Crimes are impeachable. Call them to find out why they have betrayed their Oath of Office:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_Opponents
3. House Democratic "Leaders" who oppose impeachment: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel, Whip Jim Clyburn, and DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen believe impeachment would hurt Democrats in November. Call them to say serious impeachment hearings will expose Republican High Crimes and help Democrats at all levels:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Democratic_Leaders_Should_Impeach_Bush
4. The Corporate Media
Despite six hours of in-depth hearings, there was no substantive coverage in any Corporate Media outlet. Call your favorite TV/radio talk shows and write to your favorite newspaper to demand coverage of impeachment.

Town hall meeting with Rep. Sam Farr
Last night my husband attended a conference call town hall meeting with Rep. Sam Farr. He took questions, so my husband took the opportunity to ask him this question: "Will George Bush be impeached and will this be completed before the end of his term"?
Rep. Farr answered by saying there is not enough time to impeach him before the end of his term. The impeachment is blocked by Speaker Pelosi and can't get enough support from the House or the Senate. This impeachment case has been put in the Judicial Committee for review (among many other cases from this administration). Rep. Farr said this does not excuse them from their crimes and they will continue to pursue impeachment after the presidency.
Rep. Farr continued to say there is a lot at stake right now as far as his own seat in the House is concerned. There is a lot of work to do to get the right people elected into so many seats that will be up for grabs (my own words, but that is the general idea of what he said). I'm assuming that since this is the case, many congressmen/women will not have their attention on impeachment because they are all worried about staying in office.
From what I can see, the Judicial Committee has many documented cases they are looking at because they don't want any stone unturned as far as all these criminal acts are concerned. They want it all documented for future reasons, one of which is they want to pursue these cases into the next presidency.
My husband then said he thought it would be appropriate if Rep. Farr was Speaker of the House as Farr chuckled and said "thank you for your compliment".
A young man who is a veteran of Iraq then was on the phone concerned about veteran benefits. He said we live in the richest country in the world and can't give enough to our veterans! So Farr went on to speak about what our area is doing for veterans. The veteran clinic in Monterey is expanding and the former Fort Ord empty military base has many future plans, one of which is a veteran's cemetary built on it, which they are starting now. They started out by building a state university on that land after they did an environmental clean up on it. Now they are thinking about what else to do with it.
That is a little bit of how our town hall meeting went. I am glad to know they will continue to pursue impeachment into the next presidency. To me it sounds like they are trying to cover all these cases and have a lot to do.
Rep. Farr is one of the people signed on to Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment. I thought I would let people know a little bit of his thinking. The funny thing about this is that Rep. Farr talks to everyone and doesn't say things like "you aren't my constituent so I can't talk to you". My husband is a Republican (who will not advocate for that Party now), but Farr has him on his list of correspondence. I'm a Democrat and once tried to communicate with Pelosi by email. She wrote back saying I'm not her constituent thus cannot talk to me! Sometimes I wonder if we should even have any such thing as a political party!
thanks for
the excellent report!

Shouldn't Democrats.com Support Robert Wexler?
Rep. Robert Wexler D-FL is one of only 7 House members to sign on to HR 1258 (the resolution to impeach Bush). His reward has been to get an "independent Democratic" spoiler, Ben Graber, challenging him this year. Shouldn't we stand by one of the very few who supports one of our chief aims and add him to those for whom Democrats.com is raising funds? Or is this site a cynical ruse to get money from progressives for DNC favorites, and not for those who stand up for the positions stated on the site?
Democrats.com does indeed
Democrats.com does indeed support Rep Wexler and his work. If you will note in the blog above, he is named for thanks along with Dennis Kucinich, and others.
If you do a little more research on this site, you will find numerous posts in support of Wexler. I also believe that you have the DNC mixed up with the traitorous and cowardly DLC and its "New Democrat" members.
we've never raised funds
for a candidate who is supported by the DNC - quite the opposite. in 2004 we supported Dennis Kucinich for President. in 2006 we supported 20 pro-impeachment candidates through ImpeachPAC.org at a time when the DCCC told all their candidates to oppose impeachment. in 2008 we're supporting progressive primary challengers who are running against DLC Bush Democrats.

Rep. Robert Wexler
He's an excellent advocate for progressive political thinking for the Democratic Party. He's always on target. There is no reason to think otherwise if you hear him speak.
