Time to begin...

Now that the Democrats won, it is time to fix up some things, such as the gov't rountinely violating our Constitutional rights.
They violate the 1st Amendment by caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
The violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Fix up that, impeach the President and while you are at it, investigate 9/11 a bit more thoroughly.
Support indy media.

America Deceived (book)

Well, if you want us to fix whats broken, why don't you...

join our party and help carry the water? Being a Green isn't doing anything for the country...it only does something for you.

I need to point out that in Pennsylvania, had the Greens been successful in placing their candidate in this election, Santorum would still be a senator.

Please explain why you are a Green.

Here we go again

I'll explain why, on paper, I am a Green. I was a Dem for 20 years. After Kerry's presidency got stolen, I saw how Kerry turned silent and hid and how the heads of the Green Party went forward into Ohio for a recount. And they did it for the DEMS -- not their own party. At that point, I re-registered as a Green and sent a copy of that registration to the DNC and telling them WHY. I had seen no fight for 2 stolen elections, and I had had enough.

I vote strictly Democratic, but I needed to be outside the party for my own peace of mind. If they show backbone, I will re-register as a Dem again. I AM a Democrat, it doesn't matter what the paper says. If the Dems hadn't alienated alot of people by veering 'right' and ignoring the extreme left, the party wouldn't have fractured in the first place. Instead of condemning Greens, why doesn't the Party try to UNITE us all under a common cause instead of doing what the Repukicans do and ostracize them and make them go further away. Enough of the Green bashing, ok? Can't we enjoy some peace for a little while and work together? Kucinich joined the Greens to the Dems during his campaign. He had the right spirit. That's where I first met Greens and realized where they were coming from. But we won't come together if there is all this bile flowing in their direction.

let's all work together

to transform the Democratic Party into a truly progressive party so we don't need a Green Party.

after 1964, the Goldwater conservatives took the Republican Party away from the Rockefeller establishment and turned it into the party of Reagan.

after 1992, the Gingrich conservatives took the Republican Party away from the Bush I establishment and turned it into the party of W.

we can do the same to the Democratic Party by taking it away from the DLC establishment.

this netroots revolution is well underway at all the progressive Democratic sites like MyDD.com and DailyKos.com - let's bring that same spirit here :)

I'm with you

For the last few days, I've been seeing a lot of infighting between people whom I respect over this Green/Dem issue. The differences between the Greens and progressive Democrats are minuscule, compared to that between both and the GOP. Let's bury the hatchet.

Definition?

How do you define "progressive," Bob? Because a sexist like Markos doesn't qualify in my book. He made a lot of enemies in the feminist community during the 2004 election, and I'll never trust him again. As far as I can see, he's quite content to do the bidding of the DLC.

Hi truthseeker, Doing

Hi truthseeker,

Doing something "like" what the Greens have done (and so too, you) HAD to occur so that the Democratic Party did not continue to take Liberals for granite.

I place "like" in quotes because I would offer what I think is a far better way:

1-Lets call ourselves Democrats (if that is what we are) so as to build the label in every conversation we have throughout the land.

2-Lets make it clear we withhold our time, money, vote, and good press from any false Democrats.

I think this accomplishes what you and the Green's desire, while also forcing the guys/gals who are NOT Democrats to sod off ;)

I agree

I agree

Time?

“The two party system came onto its own(1828-1832). To give people a choice of two different parties and allow them in a period of rebellion to choose the more democratic one was ingenious mode of control to banish political disorder in the U.S. by a balance of power through two well-organized and active parties” _Robert Remini – the age of Jackson
The two party system has switched sides good cop bad cop like a bad police flick over the years to mute the people's call for justice and reform. But the masses never learn from history or the broken promises once they have elected the new actors. I say this because once you look behind the the curtain you will see the true power is one group not two that actually holds the reins of power in America.
There will be No impeachment, No real 911 investagation, No repeal of Patriot Act 1 or 2 or repeal the Military commission act. See you were trick into voting for the democrats into power and that was all they were interested in. Now after you cheer our side has won they will want you to go back to sleep and worry about the next super bowl or the next terrorist attack/or war. Don't ask for the truth, Not for Justice, Not for your freedom of speech.. No No they(democrats and republicans)only give you lip service to quail your voice for change not to actually change government.
The goal of any government is to protect the rich and there investment or properties with military force here at home and around the world with you and your children paying the price with taxes and your life for their greedy profit.

Fully Agree with Foxboy1313!

I fully agree with foxboy1313, and have held this view for a long, long time now. The American people, and the world, are being duped, and if you don't believe it, you're being duped as well.

I hope you Dems get it together and try to impeach Bush. When I read what Pelosi said about impeachment being "off the table", it just confirmed everything I've believed all these years. And Pelosi is from my district in San Francisco, one of the most left-leaning areas of the entire country! I was born and raised in SF and am a proud radical lefty. There's no way you'd convince me the Dems are serving the interests of the people of the world, or the world/environment itself. They are, for the most part, also in the hands of the elite/rich and serve their interests. Anyone in this country who threatens in a serious way to do otherwise is "neutralized", either by defamation, imprisonment or assassination. Think I'm off the deep end? Read your history!

And foxboy, while I'm not a great fan of the "founding fathers", this is a great Jefferson quote. Thanks!

Best,

Dr. Livingston

Doc...do you ever listen to Ray Taliaferro or Bernie...

Ward on KGO San Francisco? Both have done an expert job on pointing out exactly what the Dems have done.

Now if you have alternatives, how about sharing them.

Grinch, if you will note,

Grinch, if you will note, neither Foxboy nor the "Doc" are Democrats. They appear to be parroting either Lyndon LaRouche, or some wierd version of Libertarianism (if it can get any more wierd).

This country has fared just fine under the two-Party system for many decades, and only "Neos" and Third Parties want to change that status. We have the PNAC neoconservatives, the DLC neoliberals, and then there are these anarchists who keep weeping and wailing about the futility of it all.

Rather than actually doing something about reasonable and democratic change, the Third Party (or No Party "Independent") followers would rather sit on the sidelines and throw stones at the team players.

The "neos," on the other hand, just want to steal what they can not achieve under our Constitutional system of government, and attempt to circumvent its checks and balances. The most recent result was One-Party (read corporate) Rule.

The Middle American people may be slow to react, but last Tuesday showed that the "sleeping giant" does awaken from time-to-time. And, when awakened, the giant is usually grouchy and very capable of dealing out American-style ass-whoopins to those who are most in need of such -- both foreign and domestic.

Anti-"every thing" anarchists like Foxboy and the "Doc," thankfully, are in a very small minority.

Foxboy, regarding this statement of yours,

I say this because once you look behind the the curtain you will see the true power is one group not two that actually holds the reins of power in America.

Kindly explain to me the 180 degree changes that have taken place in our country since
Tuesday night.

Kindly define for me...

exactly what you think has changed? Pelosi and Dean are already on record saying they won't impeach. People are still dying needlessly in Iraq, and we're still pouring money into it. Bush is still pushing his extremist agenda. The only thing that has changed is that we might see a little change after January, but that remains to be seen.

The DLC is already trying to replace Howard Dean. Why should I think anything will change?

Let's see... The election

Let's see... The election was last Tuesday, and the new Congress won't convene until January. Actually, what Pelosi and Dean have said, is that "impeachment is not on the table." The implied qualifier to that statement is: "yet." Incoming Committee Chairpersons have stated that "investigations" are most definitely "on the table."

Thanks to Dubya/Rummy/Cheney, Iraq is such a tangled mess that I will be surprised if we see any sort of meaningful troop withdrawl until at least March or April.

I agree however, that the DLC is as big a threat to the Democratic Wing of our Party as the neocons. Now that we have the nation's attention, and their implicit permission for change, it would be a good time to put Al From, Will Marshall, and the rest of the Third Way neoliberals on notice. This will be difficult, and the bulk of the hard work must come from Howard Dean's "grassroots" efforts -- us.

Our job is far from finished, and we have much hard work in front of us. Now is not the time to rest on our laurels.

What has changed? The will of the American People for meaningful change, and their fervor for accountability. The ball's in our court.

Hey, Bill-

I recognize that it's too soon to expect results. My point was that there hasn't been 180 degree change. We have the potential for change, but the noises I'm hearing from the people who could make that change have me less than optimistic.

Morgaine, for the first time

Morgaine, for the first time in 6 years our glass is half-full. I still believe that it is solely up to us -- the grassroots -- to lead the "leaders."

It's true that the Democratic "victory" on Tuesday was accomplished in part with DLC-leaning candidates, but we had to start somewhere. Now the real job of taking our Party back begins in earnest.

Hang in there...;-)

Believe me...

I'm trying. I'm trying to hang in and see if they can pull it together. I just feel as if everything I'm hearing from them since the election is the opposite of what they should be doing.

They need to stop trying to play to the middle. Americans respect people who have the stones to do what they believe. They need to impeach these bastards, whether they think it's good strategy or not, because it's the right thing to do.

Rummy's out, Rove is on the way out( and defanged)

A woman from San Francisco ( YES!) is Speaker of the House.
Congress will change colors from a redish purple to a bright blue purple.
The Dems are in the majority for the first time in 12 years.

Hmm- Georgie is the lamest of the lame duck "presidents"

From Dennis Hastert to Nancy Pelosi- that's 180 degrees.

This is a nebulus-style web, that will take some time

This is a nebulus-style web, that will take some time to untangle.

In my eyes, impeachment will happen; and at the very least, intense investigations that will expose a littany of crimes that could and will neuter the neoconservative's agenda for good. It is quite obvious Americans; regardless of how they feel about traditional conservative or progressive ideas, do not agree with the warped modern neoconservative governing -- just take a look to Tuesday's election for proof of that.

It took six years to gain the majority, Conyers, Waxman, et al, have not even gained the gavel yet, and people want immediate results.

Everyone take a collective breath, I think we are all a little excited. There is much work to be done.

There is a mountain of evidence out there that will lead to significant investigations of misdeeds; it will not go unused.

Plus, as true democrats, we still have to, as Bill Harding reminds us often, cleanse our own party of neoliberals and the DLC faction.

"If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!"

help save our rights under the constitution

you are so right, thank god there are people like you who keep us informed of how the current government has violated our constitutional laws.

Dear Bob,

The impeachment ad on the side says one hundred thousand, not one million. I have signed on as a local promoter of the impeachment cause. PLEASE adjust the logo to reflect one million.

Saigon. Shit.

Democrats too gentle for their own (and our) good!

Yes, I, too, have become disheartened about the modus operandi of the Democratic party. The Republicans fight dirty and they have won that way. While I do not advocate their tactics. we must not forget who they are and how they fight.

If I failed to give the leaders in the party adequate credit, my apologies. I think more than anything enough Americans got fed up from being threatened on so many fronts by this President and his henchmen.

Democrats too gentle? Or Craven--until now.

Generally, I agree with you, but...

I live in a district that just elected its first Democratic Congressperson. She is a moderate, but thoughtful, a real policy-wonk--I've heard her speak and have spoken with her on several occasions.

You really should understand, that not all of the presently disenchanted, who voted for Democrats, yet have very progressive views. Conservative ideology has been too pervasive, for too long.

In order for Democrats to win, they do have to trim their sails, at least at first. No, my new Congresswoman is not a DLC'r, but she has had to be very careful. If she hadn't been, she might have been more ideologically correct, but she would never have carried the counties to our north, which are even more conservative than Dutchess County, NY (which never voted for FDR).

She won election with a comfortable majority, against what had been an "entrenched incumbent," who also had a few telling and well-timed missteps.

You can't overcome the heritage of Reagan and W (and Fox News, and the rest of the media) overnight. The real tragedy of Bill Clinton was that he could have; he could have made progressive politics attractive again, but he folded in response to the 1994 election and never recovered.

Democrats do have a chance to sell progressive politics now, but carefully, making the case by showing people how government can work for all of us, and how our country can be a better place in which to live.

If we get an attractive progressive for presidential candidate, and Congress has laid the groundwork, then he/she might be able to push the envelope a bit further. Then, if he (or she) is elected, we can all press him/her to use that bully pulpit for all it's worth. Then we may get somewhere.

But for now, Democrats need to be careful and present a contrast to the childishness of the Republicans. Democrats won't win again if they become like Republicans--fighting dirty, selling influence, adopting an ideological and unreasonable politics.

That's why Conyers needs to build a case long before "impeachment" crosses his lips. It should be pretty simple; we all know what Bush has done, and that he has not even concealed most of it. Nevertheless, Conyers needs to make the case as if he were in a court of law, assuming innocence until there is reasonable doubt of innocence (since the House's impeachment is an indictment, not a verdict). That's why I don't support the impeachment petitions. I would certainly support a petition to investigate "high crimes and misdemeanors" however.

time to follow the money

It is time to find out where the more than 100 billion dollars

disappeared to. Very little is being done at the monent. I hope

that the Democrats will investigate any and all mentions of

overpayments and money that was not accounted for. I think that

there are several people with deep pockets who know where the

money went, As a taxpayer I demand that complete investigations

be made into any reported instances where millions were paid

for nothing such as mre's. into where the $80 billion in Iraqi

money disappeared to.(whose pockets).

impeachment distraction

Conviction requires two-thirds vote of the US Senate.
That's not going to happen.
Bush will be gone in two years anyway.
Focus energy elsewhere.

If they won't impeach Bush, we will recall them!

We must get a constitutional amendment through which allows for the recall of those senators/congressmen not doing the jobs their constituents want them to dol.

THEY WORK FOR US!

Tommye, do you realize what it takes to get a Constitutional...

amendment through...particularly a complex one?

Remember the ERA...very simple and direct. Went through the process and ultimately failed some years after the action was begun.

Louis Pasteur

I&R Constitutional ammendment can be done

I agree Tommye, a National Initiative and Binding Referendum Act would allow us to make law, recall unfit officials, stop poor actions and legislation. We can do this if a overpowering majority of US Citizens demand it. So let us demand it !!!

Then we will recall those congressmen and senators who refuse to

do what We, the People mandate.

Re: Two-Thirds

Don't be so sure about that two-thirds. Bush is caving on immigrations, appointed a lightweight RNC chair, spent us into oblivion and vaporized the GOP as the cut spending party. We conservatives are getting REALLY of Bush. More Republicans than you think might wash their hands of carry any more of Bush's water.

The Value NOT Exercising The Impeachment Option

There is no question in my own mind that both W. Bush and Cheney have committed unlawful acts that rise to the level of "High Crimes & Misdemeanors", but that isn't my primary concern in this regard.

First of all, I do not believe that our already polarized country would benefit from the grueling and divisive process in such temporal closeness to the (unjustifiable) ordeal of the Clinton impeachment. I think that the ordeal would be very harmful to our country. Moreover, I sincerely believe that history will "suss out" all the gorey details of the Bush II presidency, and will ultimately judge him to be among the worst (and most destructive) presidents ever.

Secondly (and far more importantly) I believe that the ability of the new Democratically controlled House to "threaten" articles of impeachment to be a far more "useful stick" than the impeachment itself.

Simply put, Bush has already committed many "high crimes" (many of which could be charged as war crimes under international law). Therefore I therefore believe that the mere (perhaps unspoken) threat of a possibility of impeachment might render W. Bush to be a more reasonable and malleable executive than he would be once he were served with articles of impeachment.

Let us not rush into a non-productive and very public confrontation when we can instead milk his predicament (for all that it is worth) for the ultimate benefit of the nation.

Let's use this bully stick to prod W. not to try to end-run of a lame-duck session reappointment of John Boltin to his position at the U.N.

Let's use this stick to prod Bush into getting our troups out of Iraq quickly, even if he has to back-pedal (flip-flop?) on his previous public pronouncements. Let HIM figure out how to square the circle of his backing this country into a corner. Let him waffle, and "eat crow".

And let him do it for no apparent reason. We would be wise NOT to make public any threat of impeachment, and the possible criminal consequences of his past actions.

There is no need for(and indeed no benefit in) a "public" threat of articles of impeachment. But there could be a great number of benefits to doing so in private.

W. just might start behaving like a reasonable person for a change. He just might become more amenable to shifting tax breaks from the super rich to the middle class. He might find an excuse for supporting a raise in the minimum wage.

He might suddenly find it prudent to close down Guantanamo, and start allowing detainees there to speak with civilian attorneys. He might actually start doing things to redeem our nation's respect for the Geneva conventions. And he might not threaten to veto a Democratic bill to restore to everyone of the right to Habeus Corpus.

So, lets not waste this bully stick in any emotionally motivated rush to sweet revenge.
Let's instead behave like reasonable adults and seasoned politicians, and play this trump hand for all that it is worth.

Realpolitik or the Constitution?

The problem with your argument is this: each one of our new Congresscritters is gonna swear to uphold and defend our Constitution, which is quite clear in the matter. If the President commits high crimes and misdemeanors, he shall be impeached. Not "if it's convenient to the ruling party to do so", not "if we want to make a symbolic statement", not "if we want to suck up to the rest of the world and show them we have regained at least a little sanity after 6 years." Are we a nation of people governed by laws? Or are we a bunch of hacks? The Prez violated the law; heck, he even admitted to a felony on national television. Whether the process gets derailed or not, the path is clear and duty calls. We must reel in this "Unitary Executive" for he is doing harm to the Constitution, and we are sworn to protect and defend it.

here, here!

They have to do it - this is not an option. It's their duty.

If the Republicans still cannot see the light, then we have a

serious problem in this country. The grassroots impeachment movement is taking on a life of its own. Tommye

Not to be Redundant, but how about a little support from our

Democratic businesses for Air America. Republican companies are boycotting Air America and they are in bankruptcy. We all complain about the Republican-controlled media but we don't take care of one of the most listened to radio shows in America that is willing to give the Democrats a more than fair share of coverage. Step up to the plate and quit standing there swinging that bat and looking important! Tommye

BUSH MUST BE IMPEACHED! Stop this "no impeachment" nonsense!

This diatribe is laced with anecdotal garbage that ignores the most basic of facts:

Bush is guilty of no less than, and more likely at least ten, impeachable offenses that rise to High Crimes!

This is not about what is politically convenient or expedient! It’s about the rule of law! If we fail to impeach this president, the bar for impeachment will be set so amazingly high, no one, I repeat, no one will ever be impeached for any reason!

After six years to think that Bush, “might suddenly find it prudent” to do anything reasonable, lawful, or truthful is just plain ignorant, foolish and naïve.

There are thousands of people dead, wounded, unfairly locked up, and tortured – due to Bush – and you want to let him go “scott-free” because you don’t want the Democrats to squander political capital? That is purely ridiculous. These Congress men and woman have a responsibility to the Constitution, not their party or own wishes – which ever it may be – to defend the rule of law and uphold their oaths of office.

You do not use a stick to “prod” a murderer to stop murdering, you arrest him, try him, and imprison him – and you don’t fail to do so because the community might not like it or benefit politically from it! Justice is always the proper course of action -- it is not always the path of least resistance -- but it is always justified and warranted.

Your argument is inane, superfluous and demonstrates you do NOT have a clear understanding about this site or the Constitutional responsibility that every member of Congress has; Republican or Democrat.

I am damn tired of people who want to give in for a little quiet simply because we have injected some necessary adversary back into the system. So far, we have done nothing, except let a murderous, treasonous criminal to continue to occupy the Whitehouse and encroach on civil liberties and the American rule of law.

Maybe you should ask all those that have been tortured, the mothers of all the dead soldiers – who died for a lie – how they feel about letting Bush go?

As a one-hour long member, you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. There are many, many lists of reasons why he MUST be impeached and whole forests have been decimated to print the countless books filled with FACTS as to why Bush must be removed from office!

"If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!"

Let the Real "Thumping" Begin

I am a self-identified Veteran-Patriot (US Army), and a resident of Arizona (love the weather, hate the politics).

Despite a progressive victory, we progressives are still on shaky ground. I unfortunately, still see rational, patriotic fellow-Americans sporting their "W" bumper stickers. We DO need to impeach this bastard, but we need to understand that many will not share our zeal in this regard.

I say that a well-publicized process is more important than the ultimate outcome. Remember, they never successfully impeached Bill Clinton, but they did manage to alter his ability to govern. At a minimum we must STOP the madness of the Bush administration. Initiating impeachment proceedings will do this more effectively than any other course of action. Maybe we will get lucky and actually oust the Bush-Cheney, oil-company and big business machine, but we need to "stop and think" rather than rush-in where angels fear to tread.

Bush is GONE in 2008 no matter what. Do we want to be seen as pit-bulls lashing-out, or as the reasoned party of the people? Congress should initiate the investigation of ALL of the anti-American shit that has been the hallmark of this administration. Hey, let's take the high-ground and win BIG in 2008.

~Jack Perry

P.S. I just want to be clear...I AM for starting the proceedings, but being patient as our leadership (listening Nancy?) methodically investigates and PUBLICIZES the results. Maybe we can get those with the idiotic "W" bumper stickers to realize how duped they have been.

Proceedings as punishment

If we simply use the process itself as a method of revenge without any real purpose the people will see through that and we will be pegged not only as sore sports but as obstructionists in time of war. If we aren't going to go all the way, we're better off not going at all. If we just use the impeachment option for a public pranging then it will lose it serious meaning and with become a symbol of partisan spite.

Setting Clear Standards

It is important that we initiate this impeachment procedure in order to send a clear message to other presidential candidates that We the People will not tolerate such illegal actions as those of the Bush administration. My personal beliefs about Bush's involvement in 9/11 notwithstanding, his blatant defiance of the laws and constitution of the land since that event have been most agonizing. It is those subsequent actions that have made the USA such a figure of derision to the rest of the world. Bush and his phony cronies have embarrassed me to no end, and have nearly destroyed the image of Democracy that the U.S. symbolized to the rest of the world. It is HE who is the traitor, and not me... as he so energetically proclaims about anyone who does not support his positions. YES, YES, and YES! He needs to be impeached to help restore the good name of the U.S. both at home and around the world.

CeeGee, you are 100% correct.

Restoration of the rule of law, respect for the Constitution and a message to all future presidents is precisely why we must impeach this president.

Nixon was nearly impeached, but resigned before they could get the articles of impeachment out of committee and in front of Congress, for a breaking into Watergate and lying about it. If THAT warranted impeachment and the resignation of a president, how can anyone even compare the massive crimes of Bush and not loudly proclaim impeachment must happen?

The American people, through their duly elected representatives, must send a message that we do not agree with this president, and that as a democracy, we can and will hold those responsible for slandering our good name.

"If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!"

Impeach

Impeach all of them, including the GOP and DEM
legislative and judicial cowards who supported this coven of thugs.
There is no statute of limitations on the killings or our citizens and our troops, and innocent "collaterals."
Sentence all of them to death, suspend the sentences, and let them live on at Gitmo, under the same conditions as those who were tortured there. Let them work in a printing plant that publishes the U.S. Constitution: a copy for every person on the planet.
These bastards and bitches (let's not forget Rice, Hughes, Harris, Coulter) must pay for their murderous crimes.

I'm with you Brendan..it's difficult to get past the infuriating

blatant criminal activity that we have been subjected to from Day 1 of the first stolen election(I am still trying to get past the unprosecuted Kennedy Assassinations) The Bush/Cheney arrogance is a stumbling block some of us may NEVER get past. Impeachment and severe consequences are pre-requisites to healing from the massive Bush/Cheney inflicted wounds.

Impeachment proceedings as punishment II

If we simply use the process itself as a method of revenge without any real purpose the people will see through that and we will be pegged not only as sore sports but as obstructionists in time of war. If we aren't going to go all the way, we're better off not going at all. If we just use the impeachment option for a public pranging then it will lose it serious meaning and with become a symbol of partisan spite.

I don't no the exact spred but it seems that the two previous impeachments, starting from the beginning hearings to the vote took teo years the better part of two years if not more. even if we start right away we run the rish ofwinding up our plan right in the heat of the final election period. If were going to pull up short of impeachmeant where in the process would that be? What we have a vote and don't win it. Looks like a lose-lose situation to me.

Tedder, you obviously don't understand the process

Tedder, you obviously don't understand the process or the reason why this is not revenge.

First, impeachment is an indictment, not a trial. Clinton was impeached, but was exonerated in the Senate, where the trial part is held. You need to brush up on your history and civics 101.

What you suggest, letting Bush go with impunity, is akin to letting a murderer go without charges because you don't think the jury will convict.

This, above all, is troubling to me:

obstructionists in time of war.

We are involved in this so-called "war", because of the trecherous acts of this president. You cannot and do not remain silent while we are at war. That is not patriotic; it is being a blind loyalist and a traitor to the Constitution. This was a "war of choice" and is a war crime. Why can't you understand that!!!

Impeachment is a win-win. Failure to impeach is the only we, as nation, lose.

"If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!"

Lies, lies and more lies.

Impeachment is a must. We must not allow them to "stay the course" after the negligent homicide of Katrina, the Iraq war, Darfur. IMPEACH NOW!

Yes, impeachment is a must. We must work to get through

a Constitutional amendment authorizing the recall of an elected official who is not representing the wishes of his constituency or who is, like the Republicans, engaging in illegal/immoral/impeachable offenses.

We trusted our congressmen and senators to police themselves. This is a giant lesson for us. We cannot trust them to police themselves.

If enough of us favor impeachment and either house fails to impeach, we must have the power to recall the guilty parties for failing to represent us.
They work for us - not the other way around. We have seen hundreds of examples, in case we didn't get the first example, of the fact that they represent themselves!

They got away with this while Americans slept; Americans have woken up!

Our country is injured at its core. Painting over or plastering

over this core damage may hide the it temporarily but in the long run it will have to be fixed. We must impeach!

As Robin Williams once said

As Robin Williams once said in a comedy special,

" Look at the hole in the ozone. This is not something you can merely spackle over, we have to do something serious to fix it!"

The correct fix is a methodical investigation, with indisputable evidence and a permanent solution: Remove Bush from office.

"If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!"

It's really very sad......

Frank, you're absolutely right. There seems altogether too much joy over the prospect of impeaching Bush. I won't deny my share in it, either. But stopping to think, I realize it is a very sad thing, a shameful thing, that we have a president worthy of impeachment and the ethical responsibility to do so.
