For me, restoring the Constitution and the Rule of Law is THE most important issue in the upcoming elections. It is more important than the war, and more important than any progressive economic agenda. It is about maintaining who we are as a nation, and as human beings.

Dodd's decision to put a "hold" on any FISA fix that includes immunity for the telecom industry is EXACTLY the kind of hard-nosed LEADERSHIP that has been sorely lacking from Harry Ried and Nancy Pelosi!

The gutless majority of Congressional 'Democrats' have connived so long with Cheney and Bush that they are equally guilty of their treasonous subversion of the Constitution, and the Rule of Law. Thank God for Dodd and Feingold. No thanks to Fearless Leader Pelosi! Harry Truman would puke!

Each and every one of us must hold ourselves responsible for our words and our deeds all the time. You and I will always be able to come up with a ton of good reasons why it may not be in our best interests to be accountable for ourselves right now, but the truth is that it is ALWAYS in our best interests, and everyone else's, that we be accountable to ourselves and other for what we do and say, particularly those who have been placed in positions of public trust and, by accepting those positions, implicitly agreed to be accountable to the citizenry. As Krashkopf said above, the Constitution is the most important issue here, more so than the war or anything else, and it is under direct and relentless attack from the Bush administration. Without this document governing our actions and those of our elected officials, we are no longer America, and the Constitution defines us as Americans and as human beings. By living in America, we have implicitly agreed that this is so - and we must defend it at all costs.

If we fail to hold our leaders responsible for illegal actions, we will be condoning those actions. We will be saying that in this country, the law of the land, and the Constitution itself, no longer matter. Our country will never be the same.

It is nearing the time for genuine public dissent. It is nearing the time for action instead of words. Words are falling on deaf ears. We are being snubbed by all those in elected office. When a mandate by the people such as the "end the war" mandate is ignored, the people must open their eyes to the loss of representation. Taking that back demands tangible action.

The people of the United States need to stand on thier collective hind legs and take back our country. The congress will do as they please until enough of us make them do other wise. The present situation is the resuilt of the appathy of the voters, fewer than 1/3 of the available voters actually voted in the presidential elections.

WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS. This is what we are told from the first remembrances of CIVIC COOPERATION. WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS. We are conditioned to follow the laws of our communities, respectively. We are taught that hard working, honest, people that follow the laws are REWARDED, and people that break the laws SUFFER CONSEQUENCES. THIS BAND of TREASONOUS CRIMINALS have lied to get AMERICA into an ILLEGAL INVASION of A SOVERIEGN NATION, that had absolutely nothing to do with TERRORISM, PERIOD. They have set it up so that AMERICAN TAXPAYER MONIES are distributed amongst SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS by way of awarding NO BID CONTRACTS to the very companies that those EXECUTIVES were in charge of just prior to them taking their respective positions in this current administration. This administration has TOTALLY DISCARDED OUR CONSTITUTION, and attempted to implement laws that will undoubtedly be found to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL. This administration has constantly INTRUDED into the personal lives of ordinary citizens, breaking so many of our laws that one would have to consult an attorney just to know where to begin. All of this and I haven't even gotten to THE OATH that these CRIMINALS all took to hold their respective positions in this current administration, which actually charges each and every one of those TRAITORS with the task of PROTECTING AND DEFENDING THE CONSTITUTION, not the PEOPLE, or THE CORPORATIONS, but the CONSTITUTION. Now I will add to the CULMINATION of CRIMES that which is the most DISPICABLE. The amount of AMERICAN BLOOD, which at last count stood at 3800 soldiers killed in action, not to mention the IRAQI BLOOD, which depending on whatever poll you choose to believe, ranges from approximately 45,000 INNOCENT CIVILIANS to over 600,000(IRAQI) people killed, pouring over the hands of those OFFICIALS of this CURRENT ADMINISTRATION. This BAND of TREASONOUS CRIMINALS cannot be allowed to ESCAPE from OUR LAWS without being held ACCOUNTABLE for the crimes they have committed against the AMERICAN PEOPLE. They must also be made to stand for the HORRIFIC ATROCITIES committed against the country of IRAQ. IT IS TIME FOR IMPEACHMENT. AFTER ALL WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS.

Thanks for standing against the growth of the fascist state in America. NOW, let's work to remove the dangerous powers that have been ceded to the Executive and bring the Executive back under the Rule of Law.

I have personally witnessed the installation of very high speed snooping equipment in the major telecomm switching offices. Big brother is already here, and snooping now. It is time to put these traitors behind bars, and tried for treason.

Thank you for standing up for the Constitution and the Bill of Rignts. Sadly, it should not be that hard to do. But, apparently it is. It seems like we have moved backwards in this country as of late, and have now gotten to the point where we are continuously taxed by the Bush Administration to support the military-industrial complex without having any real representation in Congress to decide how else this money might be spent. I feel like a "serf."

The old hackney phrase of "if we don't fight them over there we will have to fight them here." HEAR! HEAR! We have met the enemy and they are in the White House and Congress. Bush and the majority of Congress has proven over and over again that they have no more regard for American lives or laws than any organized or unorganized gang existing anywhere in the world. We watch the killings and murders in America steadily rise because too many people believe that the American government cares nothing for their life or the lives of others. Too many in Congress have made it clear that their own political ambition wins out over people with beating hearts who once believed in the Constitution and the rule of law. Senators Dodd and Feingold give us hope, but hope will have to backed by action. Be prepared to be acted against if you act on behalf of the Constitution and the rule of Law. The callousness of Palosi and Reid is stunning. What can we do to encourage and give backbone to others in Congress? Do we do like Bush and Rove do? Find the dirt and counter pressure? Continue to act and believe that by being nice we shall overcome? Are they going to kill all of us who deeply love this country by driving our anxiety level so high our hearts give out?
