Ever since I began my fast for impeachment February 12th, each morning, from 8 to 9 AM I have stood in front of the building that houses the office of Representative John Conyers, chair of the House Judiciary Committee who is considering articles of impeachment.

I am not asking you to fast, but please join me in maintaining a presence at the courthouse before you go to work each day.

This is a critical time in our nation's history. It is important that we raise our voices at this time any way that we can.

DC: Amnesty International Lobby Week on Congress to Charge or Release Guantanamo Detainees

AIUSA will hold a Congressional lobby week to close Guantanamo. We'll be calling on the US government to charge detainees and give them fair trials, or release them. We'll also be calling for an end to torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment--and for accountability for those responsible.

Most of the detainees at Guantánamo are held in isolation, many of them with virtually no access to natural light or contact with other human beings, for up to 24 hours a day. Compounding their suffering is the fact that they have no indication of when or if they will be freed from Guantánamo. Most are detained without charge. Those who have been charged face unfair trials by military commission. Some may face execution. For more information, email ctwj@aiusa.org.

Redeclaring Our Independence

USAF LT. Col. (Ret.) Dr. Robert Bowman, Star Wars Missile Defense Shield Director under three presidents will be the keynote speaker at redeclaring Our Independence, a July 4th picnic at Laurie Dobson's farm, 78 Old Cape Rd. in Kennebunkport, Maine. Dr. Bowman will speak out for Bush-Cheney Impeachment and Indictment for war crimes.

Other speakers include Atty. Harold Burbank II, drafter of the legal ordinance for Bush's Indictment in Kennebunkport for war crimes, (which will be on the ballot in November once the signatures are collected), Kurt Daims, organizer of the Brattleboro Indictment Resolution which passed last year, and Laurie Dobson with updates on her Senate Campaign and on the Bush Indictment Resolution in Kennebunkport.

We're not having any organized protest but join dozens of us walking around the Park, talking with neighbors, registering voters, watching the fireworks, and wearing identical T-shirts, which declare on front:

Meeting Place open between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Obtain your T- shirts ($8 all sizes) and voter registration forms by the anti-war banner and table on the public sidewalk in front of the Indian school entrance (by Third Street) to the park.

Bring water to drink and sun protection. Park in nearby residential areas.

Since our inception during the 1987 Great Peace Walk, we have provided kitchen, first aid, and educational support for mass actions and other campaigns addressing the important issues of our time. Seeds of Peace is pleased to announce we have finalized the schedule and location for a full Free Action Camp this July in Northern Wisconsin. The Camp will be located at Anathoth Community Farm near the small town of Luck, Wisconsin. We invite all social and environmental justice activists, organizers, and other interested parties to attend this exciting and educational event.

While the speeches of the Presidential candidates received most of the media attention at this year's AIPAC Policy Conference, the focus was mostly on "taking action on Iran". When AIPAC urges action, that usually means military action. So it is not surprising that it is urging the President to effectively place a naval embargo on Iran. An act of war. A crime against peace.

Those who are participating will meet 30 minutes prior to the time we will begin the freeze. We cannot carry signs in Grand Central Station, but we will have available a statement to affix to your t-shirt that will carry a unified message and presentation.

The way it works is that we enter the terminal and spread out, acting normally and speaking to each other. We don't cluster but spread out, close enough that we make an impact, and far enough apart that we cover a large area. The distance we separate ourselves will depend upon the amount of people that show up, we don't want to lose the effect of the silent protest.
